Chapter 201: Want a Ride on the Convenient Wind?
London. The same white-washed hospital room.
Anna stood by the window, her face dark with irritation as she watched a group of nurses wheel in another bed beside Wang Ping’s. A mummy-like figure—Park Yoo-hee—was carefully transferred onto it.
Luke hovered nearby, barking orders for everyone to be careful. But before he could finish, Anna grabbed him by the arm and dragged him aside. Her voice was sharp, almost biting. “Luke, what do you think you’re doing? Why is he here?”
“Hey, hey!” Park Yoo-hee’s voice cut through the tension even before Luke could respond. “Anna, that’s harsh! What did I ever do to you?”
“Anna…” Luke sighed, shaking his head with a wry smile.
“Hmph!” Anna hesitated, then pointed at Park Yoo-hee accusingly. “He’s going to get in the way!”
“How exactly?” Park Yoo-hee shot back, louder this time. “I’ve got nurses taking care of me—I’m not your problem. Ohhh, wait, I get it now. Are you planning something romantic with Wang…?”
“That’s enough!” Anna’s face flushed red as she stormed toward him, ready to throw a punch.
“Whoa, whoa, calm down!” A couple of onlookers—a curious bystander and Sama—rushed over to intervene just as Park Yoo-hee yelped and shut up. But a moment later, unable to resist, he turned his head away and snickered quietly.
“All right, all right!” Luke jumped between them, pulling Anna back while whispering urgently, “We’ve got another mission coming up soon. You didn’t trust the caregivers, remember? Let Park stay here—he can keep an eye on things for you.”
“Another mission? Already?” Anna frowned deeply.
Luke exhaled, his tone heavy with resignation. “Something went wrong somewhere. The Secretary-General told me that the real Golden Eagle King wasn’t stolen after all. Even so, losing any protected animal counts as failure. Our team has been ordered to investigate.”
“That’s against protocol,” Anna said stiffly. “Investigations are Interpol’s job!”

Meanwhile, halfway across the world, Gu Lang had other concerns. Back in Tibet, worried that Wang Ping’s cold might be getting worse, he made an emergency trip to the vet once they returned to Lhasa late at night. Despite Wang Ping’s protests, Gu Lang insisted on getting him vaccinated.
After all, Wang Ping was an adult hum- adult honey badger. He would never resort to physical retaliation over something as trivial as a vaccine shot. But if there was one thing Wang Ping couldn’t stand, it was people who didn’t follow the rules. So that night, when Gu Lang broke the unspoken etiquette of keeping to the right in the hotel corridor, Wang Ping didn’t hesitate to give him a good beating.
The next morning, contrary to his usual routine of lying comatose in bed until noon, Gu Lang made an unusually early start. He accompanied the tow truck to the auto repair center, ensuring the damaged Jeep was safely delivered. Upon returning to the hotel lobby, however, he found himself cornered.
A young woman wearing a press badge greeted him warmly, microphone in hand, while a cameraman snapped photos from behind.
“What’s this about?” Gu Lang blinked, instinctively reaching out to grab the camera.
“Relax, we mean no harm!” The reporter laughed, holding him back. “We’re from Western Tibet News Network. We’d like to interview you.”
“Interview me? For what?” Gu Lang looked utterly bewildered.
"You don’t know? You’re a celebrity in the outdoor and livestreaming worlds now!" The young reporter offered Gu Lang a light compliment to ease him in. But when he still looked puzzled, she pulled out her phone and showed him a stream of news articles.
"Tibetan Legend: Outdoor Streamer Builds Friendship With Wolf King"
"A Young Man Saves a Wolf in Tibet—Turns Out It’s the Alpha!"
"How the Wolf King Repays Kindness"
"Douyu Streamer Faces Wolf Pack in No-Man's Land—Here’s What Happened Next"
"Shocking! Man Makes Surprising Choice During Bear-Wolf Showdown"
……
Inside their hotel room, Wang Ping was busy supervising Little Four’s bathroom break, ensuring the tiny creature didn’t accidentally fall into the toilet bowl and get flushed away along with its poop.
Just then, the sound of the door opening broke the silence, followed by Gu Lang's animated voice as he ushered two people into the room. He was all smiles, eagerly offering them water and playing the role of the perfect host.
By the time Wang Ping flushed the toilet and stepped out of the bathroom with Little Four in tow, he was greeted by an unexpected scene: Gu Lang sat perched on the edge of the bed, enthusiastically chatting away with a young woman seated across from him. A young man stood nearby, occasionally snapping photos.
The trio turned their heads at the sound of movement. Two gasps rang out almost simultaneously.
"Boss, you take care of the little guy—I’m in the middle of an interview here!" Gu Lang said with a dismissive wave, clearly basking in the attention.
It didn’t take long for the reporters to recognize Wang Ping either; they quickly recovered from their initial surprise and refocused on Gu Lang. Still, their eyes kept drifting toward Wang Ping.
Emboldened by the attention, Gu Lang recounted his entire journey—from entering Tibet to crossing the wilderness and arriving safely in Rutog County. His dramatic retelling of the black-and-white wolf kings’ moonlit duel left the reporters wide-eyed.
Unfortunately, since the event hadn’t been live-streamed due to equipment failure, skepticism lingered. Sensing the doubt, Wang Ping casually retrieved the wolf fang from Gu Lang’s bag and began tossing it around.
“Don’t lose that, Boss,” Gu Lang muttered nervously, reclaiming the fang immediately. When the female reporter inquired about it, he proudly declared, “This is a tooth from the Black Wolf King himself! Kept as a souvenir.”
Examining the gleaming white fang streaked with faint traces of dried blood, the reporter exchanged astonished looks with her colleague. Excitement bubbled over—this might actually be legitimate news!
After snapping several photos of the fang and arranging a group picture with Gu Lang, Wang Ping, and Little Four, the reporters hurried off to draft their article.
Later that afternoon, Chen Bai called Gu Lang. He congratulated him on surviving the ordeal but also mentioned the buzz surrounding the interview. The piece had gone viral online, sparking debates among outdoor enthusiasts and wildlife experts alike. Some praised Gu Lang’s bravery; others accused him of exaggeration. Yet, thanks to Douyu’s promotion of footage showing the White Wolf King appearing in the stream, most viewers leaned toward believing the story.
For Chen Bai, the publicity was perfect timing. The more attention Gu Lang garnered, the better it would be for Douyu’s upcoming outdoor program. With urgency, he urged Gu Lang to return to Hangzhou ASAP to prepare.
But there was one hitch: the Jeep needed repairs, which would take at least a week. Flying meant leaving one pet behind. As Gu Lang mulled over renting a private vehicle, an unknown number flashed on his phone screen.
The caller wasted no time. “Gu Lang, want to catch a free ride on the plane?”
