Chapter 13 A Strategic Advancement (Part 2/3)
When
Ling Qiyang returned to the manor, the chief attendant reported to him
immediately. After listening to the report, Ling Qiyang quickly made the appropriate
arrangements and freed himself from work's drudgery. Just as he was about to
head to the pharmacy, Luo Su stopped him."Prince
Consort, I think it is better to sleep for a while before working. If Your
Highness comes back and finds out that you haven't rested, he will punish
me." Luo Su looked at him pitifully.
Ling
Qiyang felt a little helpless. Thinking of Jun Lixuan's sad face after coming
back, he nodded in compromise, "I'll rest for an hour, wake me up
later."
"Yes."
Luo Su responded crisply.
On the
other hand, Jun Lixuan walked to the Sixth Prince Manor. He stood at the gate
and looked at the words "Sixth Prince Manor" written by the Emperor
himself on the plaque. As he stared, he really could not comprehend the
Emperor's intentions. In Ye
Empire, the Princes leave the palace and establish their once manors when they
hit adulthood. All Princes born by the Empress were immediately given the title
"His Royal Highness". The Princes born by concubines were promoted based
on their personal virtues, merits and knowledge. Of course, some Princes were
never promoted. Jun Liche was considered under the Empress's lineage and should
be promoted when he left the palace. However, the Emperor did not give the
title. Then, Empress Mother just smiled and shook her head, saying that the
Emperor had his own plan.
Although
he had not been promoted, the plaque was personally written by Emperor Yanxi. This was enough to solidify Jun Liche's position. Some even speculated that the Emperor
intended to make him the Crown Prince. But everything remained speculation since
Emperor Yanxi expressed his thoughts. Jun Liche was also calm and did not
harbour dissatisfaction because of this. His cool-headed thinking saved the Empress a lot of
worries.
"Your
Highness, His Royal Highness Ling is here." The young man led Jun Lixuan
into the main hall and informed Jun Liche, who was drinking tea with Jun
Liyuan.
"I
was wondering why I was suddenly invited. Turns out that Third Brother is
here." Jun Lixuan handed his coat to the attendant and sat down.
"I
heard that you slept overnight at Count Wangyang Mansion last night." Jun
Liche laughed.
"Well,
I took Qiyang back for a visit."
"Why
didn't he come together?" Jun Liyuan asked. Judging from his younger
brother's attitude, it was apparent that Ling Qiyang should be brought along
with him.
"I
didn't sleep well last night, I told him to go back and rest first." Jun
Lixuan took a sip of hot tea and said, "Is this tea newly gifted by
Emperor Father ?"
Jun
Liche smiled and said, "Good taste. I will wrap you a little bit later and
bring it back for Qiyang to have a taste."
"Sounds
good."
"When
I came this morning, I heard the people talk about the incident at Count
Wangyang Mansion last night. What happened?" Jun Liyuan asked. He
initially thought his own brother was embroiled in an accident, but now it did
not seem like he was injured or harmed.
Speaking
of what happened last night, Jun Lixuan's gaze instantly fell to ice-cold
again. He told them what happened last night in detail.
After
listening to the story, Jun Liche burst into a peal of laughter. He said in awe,
"Originally, you were too hostile to everyone, and everyone was afraid of
meeting you. The Ling family's young lady probably heard of your infamous
aggression and dared not think about doing anything. However, she probably
found that you were different from the rumours and dared to come out with this
absurdity."
Jun
Lixuan frowned slightly.
Jun
Liche continued, "If you visited Count Wangyang Mansion alone, she
probably would have wished to vaporise and disappear from your sight on the
spot. Whether you have Qiyang by your side or not directly determines the
hostility on your face."
Jun
Lixuan remained silent. In fact, he was not a gentle person deep down. But
facing Ling Qiyang, he made himself softer. Alas, he never expected his
feelings for his wife would be misunderstood by others.
"Since
they dug their own grave, you don't need to care about it." Jun Liyuan put
down his teacup and said, "Today, we called you over regarding the Tarmar
unrest."
