13 A Strategic Advancement (Part 1/3)
Back in
the room, Jun Lixuan did not rest immediately. He sat on a chair, hugging Ling
Qiyang who on his lap. His eyes scanned the room and observed the fine details.
The layout of the room was like Ling Qiyang's style, clean and straightforward.
The bedding was just changed, and the porcelain vases awkwardly adorned on the
cabinets. These decorations were most likely haphazardly thrown on when the
attendants cleaned the room, oddly misfitting the room's style.
"Have
you always lived here?" Jun Lixuan asked.
Ling
Qiyang was stuck on his lap and could not walk away even if he wanted to. So,
he turned around to face Jun Lixuan and nodded, "The room is a bit
rudimentary. It can't be helped. You can't compare it with the manor. Just make do with
it tonight, alright?"
"How
could I complain and be unhappy with my wife's room? "The cold darkness on
Jun Lixuan had dissipated since he stepped into the room. He smiled gently at
the man on his lap, "Everything here seems to smell just like you."
"What
smell?" Ling Qiyang was puzzled, wondering if the room stank of medicine.
"A
very faint, clean fragrance. That's your smell. It makes me feel good and
happy." Jun Lixuan buried his face into Ling Qiyang's neck, snuggling into
his body and searching for the fragrance.
Ling
Qiyang laughed, "Are you learning from Mo Yu'er ?"
"That
little thing will only let you hug him. I'm different, I can hug you." Jun
Lixuan whispered in his ear.
As the
warm breath caressed his ears, Ling Qiyang's ears reddened. Shyly, he slapped
Jun Lixuan's hand, "Nonsense."
Jun
Lixuan let go of him and beamed "There is no one else here. You are my
wife, so I can naturally say this to you."
Ling
Qiyang took a look at the shameless Prince. Although he liked Jun Lixuan very
much, the sudden acts of immature and teenage affection were still hard to get
accustomed to.
After
pouring tea from both of them, Ling Qiyang changed the subject, "Big
Brother just told me about the political discussion he had today..." Ling
Qiyang told Jun Lixuan what Ling Hongzhi had said to him.
After
hearing this, Jun Lixuan smiled and said, "Well if that's the case, I can
also spend the whole year with you. Anyway, after the celebrations, things will
be clear during the morning assembly. So don't worry too much."
Ling
Qiyang nodded.
After
Jun Lixuan drank the tea, he picked up Ling Qiyang in a swoop and walked to the
bed. This caught Ling Qiyang by surprise. He struggled and frantically
whispered, "We are very close to Father's place...."
Jun
Lixuan smiled and put him on the bed. Softly, he chuckled, "I just want to
tuck my wife to bed. What naughty things are you thinking of?"
Ling Qiyang
glared at him with tomato-red ears. As he stared, a deep kiss from Jun Lixuan
landed gently on his forehead...
That
night was peaceful, as quiet as still water...
The
next day, Jun Lixuan and Ling Qiyang got up early and ate breakfast with Ling
Qiyang's Father. They didn't invite anyone else during the meal. With Jun
Lixuan actions, his favour of Concubine Yue was apparent. Accordingly, everyone in Count
Wangyang's Mansion was much more attentive to Concubine Yue's needs.
After
the meal, the two talked with Ling Qiyang's Father again before leaving Count
Wangyang Mansion. While the three were enjoying family time, Ling Jieyu's epic
saga had spread across the Captial like wildfire. With each reiteration of the
story, it became more exaggerated. Simultaneously, another rumour spread; Jun
Lixuan's declaration of his love for Ling Qiyang and his vow to not concubines. Although
all these mindless chatters at the dinner table for the citizens, it was clear
that the former was a huge joke and the latter, a touching story.
The
carriage was trotted along the way, the two in the carriage chatted. Suddenly,
Ming Li opened the corner of the cotton curtain of the carriage and said,
"Your Highness, the Sixth Prince sent someone over to invite you to his
manor."
The
carriage stopped on the side of the road. Jun Lixuan raised the curtain. It was
someone that he recognised.
"Go
ahead." Ling Qiyang said.
"You
go with me."
Ling
Qiyang shook his head, "Sixth Brother should have something to discuss
with you. I am not interested in court affairs. It would be troublesome to let
Sixth Brother entertain me alone..."
Thinking
that Ling Qiyang might feel bored, Jun Lixuan no longer insisted. Furthermore,
the Sixth Prince was not yet married. While he did have concubines, it was
inappropriate for them to sit with Ling Qiyang.
"Alright,
you have been busy with the New Year these few days. Go back and get some
sleep." Jun Lixuan said.
"Yeah."
Ling Qiyang nodded. He was going to go back to prepare the medicine for Ling
Hongzhi. He did not know when his eldest brother would head out to subdue the
unrest, it was better to prepare early.
Jun
Lixuan got out of the carriage and watched the carriage gradually go away.
Then, he brought Ming Li along to the Sixth Prince's Manor.
