Chapter 12 Quelling the Rumours (Part 1/3)

"Madam, I don't think someone threatened the young lady." Aunt Zhou sauntered over unhurriedly. She greeted Jun Lixuan, turned around and said, "The young lady's yard is guarded by the best guards within the Mansion. Leaving aside her attendants, only you and the master can enter. Therefore, the possibility of her actions being instigated by others is unlikely. The young lady also does not seem to be kidnapped by someone. Just in case, Hongzhi has just visited the young lady's yard. There was no one was injured, and everything is normal. I've asked her personal maid and learnt that she left the yard by herself. Come to think of it, only Young Lady can leave the yard by herself."

"You..." All of Madam Ling's crying stalled after her lies were publically unveiled by Aunt Zhou. Ling Jieyu knew that her crime was indisputable. With a crazed smile, she turned and smirked at the crowd around her, "So what if I came here myself? The position of Her Royal Highness Ling should belong to me. It's mine! This scum, Ling Qiyang, robbed me of it! It's mine!!"

As those words reverberated across the yard, the Count Wangyang Mansion’s people held their breaths in disbelief. These words could easily count was insubordination and was a severe crime. The marriage between Jun Lixuan and Ling Qiyang was decreed by the Emperor. No one in the right mind would voice their dissatisfaction in front of a Prince, let alone claim that it was robbed from her!

"You... You are an idiot! Do you know what you are talking about!" The horrific words shocked Count Wangyang back to his senses. Immediately, he raised his arm to hit his daughter but was blocked by Madam. The Madam sobbed painfully in defence, "Sire, Jieyu is not lying…"

"Shut up!" Count Wangyang hollered. The domineering tone in Count Wangyang's voice muted Madam and Ling Jieyu. Count Wangyang immediately knelt down and pleaded in a hoarse, choking voice, " Your Highness, I've failed to discipline my wives and daughters. Please, for Qiyang's sake, forgive them."

Ever since Jun Lixuan heard Ling Jieyu claimed that Ling Qiyang had robbed her position, his face had become darker and darker. The crying women’s still had their heads on their necks only because Count Wangyang had knelt before him, and Ling Qiyang's Father still had to live here. He stared into the souls of the women and hissed, "How dare you, repulsive filth, compare yourself with Qiyang? Have you ever looked in the mirror to see your ugly self?"

Jun Lixuan’s voice was colder than the winter frost, and each word pierced like an icicle into the women's ears, "I don’t know where you heard the rumours. But let's make this clear. I never thought about marrying you, and Emperor Father never mentioned you. I didn’t even know who you existed before and how I hoped it stayed that way. So, don't bother playing your little games here." He remembered that the Emperor had said that only his own people knew about it. Most likely, what Ling Jieyu heard was the instigation of those who were jealous Ling Qiyang, plus her own speculation.

"If I ever hear of this again, I will hold you accountable for slandering the royal family and treason." Jun Lixuan took Ling Qiyang in his arms and declared to the entire Mansion, "I will only take Qiyang as my wife. From beginning to end, all the way till my death, only him."

Ling Qiyang stared at Jun Lixuan in a daze. He felt a warm tugging in his heart, and his eyes turned watery. He quickly lowered his head and smiled, covering up the complex emotions on his face.

"This time, I will write it off as familial arguments. I will not involve myself any further. Count Wangyang, I hope you can discipline your daughter well in the future. Enough with the trouble and nonsense."

"Yes, yes, thank Your Highness for your kindness." Count Wangyang kowtowed his head. he got up and kicked Madam Ling mercilessly and whispered in a firm, forceful tone, "Get out of my sight with this shameless thing!"

When Madam Ling heard that His Royal Highness Ling spared her daughter, she immediately cheered up. She peeled her daughter off the ground and hastily evacuated from Ling Qiyang's Father's yard under the concealment of several maids and grannies.

"I'm exhausted. You all can leave now."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Ignoring the crowd gathered around, Jun Lixuan put his arm around Ling Qiyang and walked into the room. He remembered that the Madam was Imperial Noble Consort's sister, and knew that Madam Ling and Ling Jieyu were under Imperial Noble Consort's camp. Instantly, a mysterious smugness sprouted within Jun Lixuan. Count Wangyang would most likely ensure that the entire Mansion kept this incident under wraps and, Madam Ling would never let Imperial Noble Consort catch wind of this.

However, he had the power to open this can of worms again. Whether this incident slide so quickly depended on Jun Lixuan...

Translator's Notes:

This chapter is fantastic!!!

Jun Lixuan's coldness towards the Ling Family is such an adorable contrast from his sweet attitude to Ling Qiyang! Too bad for Madam and Ling Jieyu. Serves them right! HAHAHA
