Chapter 14 Lingering Love (Part 4/4)
"Thank
you for your guidance, I will remember it. I had been very disrespectful
before, but I hope Master will not blame me." Jun Lixuan said sincerely.
He believed that his rebirth was only possible as Ling Qiyang exchanged his own
life. Otherwise, why didn't he, a man who had been dead for many days, not
enter the underworld? Why did he retain his consciousness until Ling Qiyang
died in front of him?

"It's
fine. Right and wrong will show itself when the time comes. Buddha is merciful.

give lectures, please take your time here."
"Yes,
please take care too, Master." He remembered that when he first met Master

it's an excellent sign," Ling Qiyang beamed brightly. Evidently, this sign
eased his mood and gave him peace of mind.
"Well,
if there are no other things to do, let's go down the mountain. The bazaar
seems to have lots of food." Jun Lixuan held Ling Qiyang's cold fingertips
and strolled off.
Ling
Qiyang nodded, and the two went down the mountain together.
Many
people went directly to the bazaar from the temple. The streets were enveloped
by the orchestral sounds of people chattering and footsteps hitting the
pavement. Their loud sales and recruitment calls were brimming with contagious
excitement and adrenaline. The road's chaotic crowds were not suitable for riding
horses, so the two decided to walk. There was a roadside store selling hot rice
cereals. In the winter chills, rice's pure fragrance with the sweetness of
osmanthus sugar was incredibly tantalising.
Jun
Lixuan pulled Ling Qiyang over. Usually, Jun Lixuan did not patronise these
street stalls. However, today he brought Ling Qiyang. Seeing how warm and sweet
the rice cereal looked, he was willing to try it.
"Boss,
give me a big one." Jun Lixuan said.
"Okay,
find a place to sit first, and wait for a while." The boss was a shrewd
man. Seeing how the two were very well-dressed, he immediately could tell that
they were young masters of a wealthy family. Coupled with Ling Qiyang's
exceptional elegance, the boss threw in a special service and added more nuts
into their cereal.
Ling
Qiyang tugged on Jun Lixuan's clothes and looked uncomfortably. He never ate on
the streets.
Jun
Lixuan smiled lightly and said, "It looks good. Let's eat together."
Having
found a place to sit down, the boss brought the cereal over quickly.
"Enjoy."
Jun
Lixuan nodded and passed a spoon to Ling Qiyang.
Hesitantly,
Ling Qiyang took a sip. Instantly, the sweetness and light fragrance of
osmanthus spread in his mouth. Together is the gentle warmth of the cereals, the
chills of winter were slowly expelled from his body. It was indeed a perfect
winter snack. Furthermore, this roadside store's food was not inferior to the
food from the manor. Instead, it should be described as fresh and unique
flavours.
Seeing
his wife's pleasantly surprised expression, Jun Lixuan was elated. However,
after taking two bites, he found the sweetness not to his liking and did not
eat anymore. Instead, he sat and just watched Ling Qiyang eat.
Suddenly,
a sharp shriek shattered the cosy warmth around the two. A woman was crying for
help not far away.
"Help!
Someone help me..." A woman in white dashed down the path frantically.
Seeing her desperate rush, the pedestrians stepped aside in fear.
Not far
behind the woman, a group of strong men chased. They brandished wooden sticks
and were shouting as they ran, "Stop! Where do you think you can run to!
You are asking for trouble!"
The
woman's hair scattered as she ran. Her white clothes were dirty and stained in
several places. Her frightened face scanned the passers-by, pleading for help.
As they watched, the passers-by did not know what was going on. As the menacing
group of brawny men charged behind, no one dared to step in.
"What
are you looking at?! Haven't you seen the brothel arresting their girls!"
The man at the front swung the wooden stick chasing away the people on the
road.
"I
am, not...you..." The woman turned around to dispute the statement. Alas,
her feet tripped, and she tumbled to the ground. From her dishevelled
appearance, she lost all her means to escape.
"Let
you run again! Come on, run!" The burly men rushed up and surrounded the
womon.
"I'm
the daughter of a prim and proper household. I am not what you said...No!"
The woman obviously could not mention the unsightly words. Alas, her arguments
were weak and fell on deaf ears.
Jun
Lixuan's eyes narrowed slightly. Instantly, a mysterious hostility radiated
from him. All the guests in the teahouse could not help look away and
unconsciously retreated from him.
Ling
Qiyang stretched out his hand to hold Jun Lixuan's. According to Jun Lixuan's
character, he would have acted by now if he could. If he was still sitting
here, he must have his reasons.
Ling
Qiyang also agreed that saving others required wisdom and strategies. Although
the brute force was useful, it was not a smart way along this bustling
street...
