Wang Ping stepped forward, positioning himself at the forefront, directly facing the pack of wolves across the field. His small denim jacket fluttered in the wind, exuding an unmistakable air of authority.
Under the watchful eyes of Gu Lang, Yuan Xiaoxiao, and a sea of online viewers, the wolf king paused for a moment before slowly advancing toward them. As it moved, the rest of the pack followed suit, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a street gang negotiation.
As both groups closed in, they stopped at a distance of less than five meters. Then, the two leaders—Wang Ping and the wolf king—stepped forward to begin their "negotiation." Or rather, Wang Ping took the initiative to greet the wolf king.
"Hey, nice to see you again!"
Wang Ping waved his little paw, then spotted a familiar figure behind the wolf king. His furry face broke into a grin.
"Haha, buddy, you’re here too!"
"..."
From among the pack, a muscular blue wolf quickly turned its head away, pretending not to recognize Wang Ping.
Gu Lang felt his legs go weak and discreetly rubbed them. Behind him, Yuan Xiaoxiao’s hand retreated into her sleeve, gripping the paratrooper knife she had secretly taken from someone’s backpack.
"Uh... damn it, how do I even describe this situation?"
Wang Ping glanced at the wolf king in front of him and then back at the utterly bewildered Gu Lang, scratching his furry head in frustration.
"Maybe we should introduce ourselves first?"
Just as Wang Ping raised his arm to gesture, the wolf king moved again, bypassing Wang Ping entirely and approaching Gu Lang, who stood frozen in place. The awkward tension in the air was palpable.
"Woo~"
The wolf king sniffed Gu Lang's scent, let out a soft growl, and sat down in front of him.
Gu Lang remained motionless, his brain and heart racing as if on the verge of overload.
Wang Ping turned around, walked up to Gu Lang, and slapped his calf with a paw. "Gu Lang, stop spacing out! You were the one who called them out!"
"Whoosh..."
Suddenly, the wolf king turned its head, glaring at Wang Ping with a threatening gaze and emitting a low growl.
"Damn..." Wang Ping muttered under his breath. This stupid wolf sure had a lot of opinions.
At that moment, Gu Lang, finally snapping out of his daze, impulsively reached out and placed a hand on the wolf king’s head.
The pack stirred uneasily, low growls rippling through the group. Gu Lang froze mid-motion, hesitating. But then the wolf king turned and growled twice at the pack. A few wolves that had begun to advance slunk back with their tails between their legs. The rest of the pack obediently sat down, quietly observing the scene.
The live chat erupted in awe. This wasn’t some scripted CGI spectacle from a movie—it was a real-life interaction with a pack of wolves. The audience’s emotions ran deeper than any cinematic experience.
"NetLitGen3 gifted Yacht ×3..."
"SausageCuteUncle gifted Super Rocket ×2..."
"TooUglyToRevealFace gifted Yacht ×3..."
"LittleFriendLily gifted Rocket ×1..."
"OldCat gifted Super Rocket ×2..."
"TheSoftshellTurtleNeedsToGoVegetarian gifted Fish Balls ×99..."
The continuous stream of gift notifications rang out from the tablet strapped to Gu Lang’s chest. He quickly silenced the volume to avoid startling the wolf king.
"Uh..." Gu Lang crouched down, extending a hand toward the wolf king’s hind leg while speaking softly. "Let me take a look at your injury..."
"Woo..."
The wolf king instinctively shifted away, raising a front paw to block Gu Lang’s hand.
"Uh..." Gu Lang’s hand hovered halfway, and he turned to Wang Ping with a pleading look. "Boss, it won’t let me check. What should I do?"
"How would I know? I don’t speak wolf language!"
Wang Ping looked exasperated but suddenly remembered a solution. His eyes scanned the pack, landing on a familiar figure trying to hide.
Taking two steps forward, Wang Ping gestured with his paw to one of the wolves. "Hey, buddy, come over here~"
The other wolves watched warily, except for one who turned its head away, pretending not to notice.
"Aww, come on, don’t be shy!"
Wang Ping marched over, and though the pack growled in response, no one made any aggressive moves thanks to the wolf king’s earlier warning. Moments later, Wang Ping grabbed the blue wolf’s front leg and began dragging it toward Gu Lang.
"Awooo~!"
"Woo~!!"
The blue wolf struggled, its face full of alarm and reluctance. Despite putting up a fight, Wang Ping’s strength was overwhelming. Even with three paws clawing at the ground, the wolf was dragged forcefully to Gu Lang.
The wolf king watched curiously but didn’t intervene. However, recalling the crude sketches from earlier, a few metaphorical black lines appeared on its forehead.
"I hope it’s not another incomprehensible drawing..."
The reluctant blue wolf whined softly near the wolf king, but Wang Ping jumped up, hooking its neck and pinning it to the ground. The wolf opened its jaws to bite, but catching the wolf king’s disapproving glare, it whimpered and closed its mouth, resigned to its fate.
With the blue wolf subdued, Wang Ping turned to grab the first aid kit Gu Lang had been holding. He pulled out an unopened roll of bandages and proceeded to haphazardly wrap the wolf’s hind leg.
"Hey, Boss, don’t waste the bandages..." Gu Lang called out instinctively, then realized Wang Ping was demonstrating for the wolf king’s benefit.
Yuan Xiaoxiao’s eyes nearly bulged out of her head. Wang Ping’s actions were far beyond her understanding of what a honey badger was capable of. Sure, she knew he was clever, but this was something else entirely—it was like an animal version of Pictionary.
Gu Lang and the live chat audience, however, were unfazed. Their perception of Wang Ping had already been shattered when he forced someone to treat Rosette’s injuries.
The wolf king observed its subordinate writhing in pain on the ground, then glanced at its own injured hind leg. Finally, it slowly lowered itself, exposing its leg to Gu Lang.
"Yes!"
Encouraged, Gu Lang quickly called out, "Boss, pass me the first aid kit!"
In the live stream, as the wolf king exposed its leg and Gu Lang leaned in closer, everyone saw the grotesque sight: the hind leg bent unnaturally backward, the skin peeled back, revealing dark red blood and detached tissue.
"Hiss..." Gu Lang’s hands trembled, hesitant to proceed.
At that moment, a shadow fell over him. Yuan Xiaoxiao placed Little Four on the ground next to Wang Ping and stepped forward.
"Don’t rush to bandage it. First, check if the bone is damaged," she whispered, handing him the paratrooper knife. "Cut away the detached skin first."
