After speaking, Nord and Marion exchanged a knowing smile before turning to leave. Tang Fang, already suspicious, quickly said his goodbyes to Grant and the others and followed them out of the bridge.

They took the elevator further up, heading toward the upper deck. When the doors opened, they were greeted by a small cockpit-like chamber, barely more than ten square meters in size. The colorful blinking electronics and touch panels around the edges were unremarkable compared to what truly caught Tang Fang's attention: a person standing at the front of the cabin—and above her head, a flickering psionic flame.

"Claire?" Recognizing her silhouette immediately, Tang Fang couldn’t help but freeze momentarily.

Claire turned and smiled. "You’re here."

"What are you doing here?" He had assumed she was helping Virginia with logistics coordination.

"Remember, this is a Charles Federation warship. Without me, you might just fly it straight into the sun," Claire teased, clearly in high spirits. With their victory in the Arctic campaign, the government forces routed, and Hatto Spaceport now under Garcia Resistance's control, all that remained was absorbing the port’s fleet. Once done, Marion’s forces would exceed 600 ships—lacking only carriers to qualify as a full-fledged space fleet.

Marion chuckled, nudging Tang Fang playfully. "The opportunity’s yours. Don’t waste it." Then, as if remembering something, he added, "And don’t mention any of this to Virginia. You know how sharp-tongued that old woman can be."

Tang Fang rolled his eyes. The old man was seventy, while Virginia was barely in her fifties. If she was an "old woman," then what did that make him?

"Cough, cough." Nord cleared his throat pointedly, glancing at the three of them. "General, Montgomery, Adelaide, and some revolutionary leaders should have arrived by now. Why don’t we let Claire show Tang Fang around the ship? No need for us to meddle further."

Nord emphasized the word "meddle," earning a hearty laugh from Marion. "Right, right, of course. Claire, take Tang Fang on a tour of The Morning Star. Nord and I have urgent matters to attend to."

"Alright," Claire agreed readily. With that, Marion and Nord departed.

"Come on, I’ll give you a detailed tour of The Morning Star," Claire offered.

"Not so fast," Tang Fang interrupted, stepping closer to the central console. Pointing at the psionic flame hovering above them, he said, "Let’s talk about this first."

Claire gave him a knowing look, then walked over to a touch panel on the right and tapped a few keys. A blue flash illuminated the air, projecting a holographic model of The Morning Star. She highlighted a ring-shaped protrusion on the upper deck. "This area below is where we are now."

Tang Fang recalled noticing the strange device earlier when they’d been on the gangway—a silver ring embedded with diamond-shaped crystals that pulsed with a faint blue light. At the time, he’d thought it might be some kind of quantum radar or photonic apparatus, not expecting it to be Epsilon technology.

"I know what you’re thinking," Claire said with a smile, swiping across the panel. The hologram zoomed in on the ring structure, highlighting a line connecting it to the EZero catalytic chamber in the engine area.

"We call it the EZero Particle Spatial Effect Field Generator. By channeling EZero particles released from the catalytic chamber, the generator creates a warp field similar to a temporal bubble, enveloping the ship and placing it in a semi-hyperspace state."

"Semi-hyperspace?" Tang Fang had never heard the term before.

"Yes, semi-hyperspace—a peculiar dimension between real space and hyperspace. Essentially, the ship enters a subspace-like sealed region, existing outside normal spacetime. It can’t be detected by radar or photonic sensors but remains physically present. By adjusting the supply of EZero particles, the ship can alternate between subspace and real space, achieving invisibility."

Tang Fang sucked in a breath. Alternating between subspace and real space was far beyond conventional stealth techniques like camouflage coatings, radar jamming, or holographic disguises.

Claire glanced at him. "Of course, this Epsilon tech isn’t perfect. First, subspace is merely parallel to real space and lacks warp effects, so speed isn’t particularly high. Second, entering or exiting subspace causes spatial oscillations, requiring the ship to remain stationary until the oscillations subside, leaving it vulnerable to attack during that period. Third, our navigation systems aren’t fully compatible with Epsilon tech, causing positional errors upon exiting subspace. Factors like massive explosions, high-energy particle bursts, or stellar storms exacerbate these errors, potentially sending the ship off course by thousands of kilometers—a flaw reminiscent of warp drives."

"Understandable," Tang Fang nodded. Warp drives derived from Epsilon tech already had significant flaws; integrating such advanced alien devices directly with human technology was bound to have imperfections. If not for these limitations, Marion wouldn’t have needed to orchestrate such elaborate schemes. He could’ve simply brought the fleet to Ramsden’s doorstep and launched a surprise attack, likely securing Asram’s star system long ago.

"No wonder Colcrav has struggled to deal with your movements within imperial territory for years," Tang Fang mused, glancing at the psionic flame above. His curiosity piqued again. "How many of these devices are there? And how did rebels acquire such advanced tech? Did it come from the Charles Federation?"

Claire shook her head. "There are 480 EZero Particle Spatial Effect Field Generators divided equally among the twelve Garcia Resistance factions. Each leader controls forty units."

"They didn’t originate from the Charles Federation," she continued. "Do you remember the Garcia Uprising twenty years ago?"

When Tang Fang nodded, she elaborated. "The Garcia star system lies on the empire’s frontier near the Charles Federation. Initially, Tambor, one of its planets, was treated as a minor resource world. However, everything changed when Epsilon ruins buried beneath sandstone were discovered on Tambor’s moon, Azeroth. News of the discovery somehow reached the Charles Federation. Coincidentally, Tambor erupted in rebellion, spreading across the continent. Rebels seized government buildings, spaceports, and military bases."

"At that point, the Charles Federation activated sleeper agents embedded in the Garcia system, assisting the rebels in capturing the Starport and guiding Marion’s group to secure the Epsilon ruins on Azeroth."

"Colcrav I, newly ascended and politically unstable, delayed mobilizing the fleet, giving the rebels ample time to grow stronger. Using scientists, they unlocked the ruins, recovering the sealed Epsilon devices—the 480 generators. Though they eventually lost to the imperial fleet, the rebels learned to use the generators effectively, allowing survivors to escape the encirclement and flee Garcia safely."

"So that’s how it happened," Tang Fang murmured, gaining new insight into the Garcia Uprising. No wonder the resistance’s harassment campaigns had plagued Colcrav for two decades. Their success stemmed from Epsilon technology.

"One more thing," Tang Fang asked. "If there are only 480 generators distributed among nearly 400 ships, how do the rest avoid detection?"

Claire anticipated this question, ready with an answer. Her slender fingers danced across the panel, replacing the ship’s model with a miniature projection of the entire fleet. Forty beams of red light radiated from ships along the formation’s edge, forming a network that enveloped the entire fleet.

"This is..." Tang Fang gasped, realizing the implication.

"You guessed correctly," Claire confirmed. "The EZero generators can operate individually for single-ship cloaking or synchronize frequencies to create a spatial effect field array, expanding coverage to cloak multiple ships simultaneously."

"Amazing," Tang Fang muttered. Each encounter with Epsilon tech left him awestruck. It was no wonder some referred to them as gods. Their advancements surpassed humanity’s significantly—even eclipsing Terran tech from games like StarCraft. Still, they likely fell short compared to the Protoss.

Returning to the present, Tang Fang gazed at the holographic projection, feeling deeply moved. Marion had been exceptionally generous—not only gifting him a state-of-the-art destroyer but also including one of these priceless generators. This went beyond mere gratitude; it showed trust and camaraderie.

Could the psionic flame contain critical information? Eyeing Claire sideways, Tang Fang extended his hands toward the flame. "Let’s see what secrets this device holds."
