Chapter 7 — Care

Part 1
___________________________

Even if he didn’t want to face it, Chu Rou was still his sister, and it was impossible for Chu Feng to run away from her. Now that Chu Rou didn’t know about what happened in the last life, he didn’t have to face Chu Rou’s crying face and eyes full of hatred.

He took a deep breath quietly and calmed down his emotions, Chu Feng said, “I’m here.”

“Brother.” Hearing his voice, Chu Rou walked in, and then sensibly greeted Si Xian, but when she saw Rong Xun on Chu Feng’s bed, she was stunned, “Senior Rong Xun? What’s wrong with your face?”

Chu Rou was two years younger than Chu Feng. She was admitted this year, had just entered the first year of high school and was still a newcomer to the school. Chu Rou had a very small baby face. She looked well-behaved and cute. With a gentle personality, she soon made good friends and became familiar with the school environment. The school did not prohibit girls from going to the boys’ dormitory, but boys were absolutely not allowed to enter the girls’ dormitory, so in general, Chu Rou would come directly to Chu Feng and Chu Feng could only call Chu Rou if something happened.

“It’s nothing, I accidentally fell.” Rong Xun replied with a light smile.

Chu Rou, a young girl who had yet to be well versed about world affairs, was much easier to deal with than Si Xian. After hearing that, she nodded seriously and said: “Senior, should be more careful in the future.”

“En, I know.” Rong Xun nodded and didn’t say anything more.

“Hey, that’s not right, why is Senior Rong Xun here?” She remembered that Rong Xun and her brother were not in the same dormitory.

Chu Feng smiled and replied, “In the future, Rong Xun will live here.”

“Really? That’s great.” Chu Rou raised her head to look at Rong Xun, and said, “This will make it much easier and convenient for me to ask Senior Rong Xun any questions about my studies in the future.”

“Yeah.” Rong Xun responded with a smile. He didn’t have much contact with Chu Rou, but he had a good impression of this girl. When Chu Rou said that he was Chu Feng’s younger sister, he was surprised. Although Chu Rou and Chu Feng have completely two personalities, they get along very well.

“What are you holding?” Chu Feng turned his gaze to the bag that Chu Rou was holding. When Rong Xun talked to Chu Rou, for some reason, he didn’t know why, but he was a little uncomfortable, so he simply turned Chu Rou’s attention away.

“Oh, I brought some porridge and vegetables from home.” Chu Rou put the bag in her hand on the table. “You didn’t come home this week. Mom asked me to bring it to you.”

“Yeah.” Chu Feng took out the thermos cup and lunch box inside and opened it. The porridge was made of rice with oats and wolfberries and the vegetables were a box of stir-fried mushrooms and a box of steamed pork ribs. Both congee and vegetables were still hot, so it was just right for Rong Xun to eat now, so there was no need for him to go to the cafeteria to buy food.

“Just in time. I bought fried chicken and pizza, let’s eat together.” Gui Heng smiled. He and Chu Rou are also familiar and eating together was a common occurrence.

Chu Rou said with a regretful expression: “I asked my classmates to go shopping. She’s waiting for me downstairs.”

“That’s fine.” Since the appointment had been made, it couldn't be missed or canceled. “Next time I buy it, I’ll send it to your dorm, you come down and get it.”

“Okay, thank you Brother Heng in advance.” Chu Rou responded with a smile. Gui Heng had a good relationship with Chu Feng and often came home. For her, Gui Heng was another brother of his, so there was no need to treat him with formal courtesy.1

“Is the money enough?” Chu Feng asked her. Girls must bring more money when they go shopping.

Chu Rou blinked and looked at Chu Feng. Only then did Chu Feng remember that when he went abroad, he basically didn’t have enough money. He often asked Chu Rou to borrow more money. It was only after he started making money that he started giving money to Chu Rou.

With a dry cough, Chu Feng said, “I still have a little bit. The weather is getting colder. If you are going to go shopping, buy a thicker piece of coat. Don’t get cold.”

Chu Rou smiled and said, “I have enough money.” She was also very happy that her brother cared about her.

“Well, don’t come back too late. Call me when you get to the dorm.” Chu Feng reminded her. His relationship with Chu Rou had always been good, but as an older brother, he didn’t care enough about Chu Rou.

Chu Rou looked at him with some surprise, then nodded in a daze and said, “Okay.”

“Go.” Chu Feng smiled. In his new life, he must not only take care of Rong Xun, but also make up for his previous shortcomings. Naturally, his concern for Chu Rou would be put on the agenda.

After Chu Rou said goodbye to them, she left first.

Chu Feng beckoned to Rong Xun who was sitting on the bed, and said, “Come down and eat, this congee is cooked just right.”

“That’s what Chu Rou brought for you, it’s not good for me to eat it.” Rong Xun said hesitantly.

“There’s nothing wrong with it.” Chu Feng smiled, “What is the difference between mine and yours?”

Rong Xun pursed his lips and smiled, got out of the bed, sat down at the table, and waited for Chu Feng to serve him the congee.

Gui Heng and Si Xian looked at each other. Although they had some doubts about what Chu Feng said just now, they didn’t say much— between friends, there wasn't much any difference between each other.

Chu Feng, Gui Heng, and Si Xian sat at the table eating fried chicken and pizza. Si Xian happened to have a few cans of Coke and took them out. Chu Feng also added steamed pork ribs, leaving only the fried mushrooms for Rong Xun. After all, Rong Xun had to eat lighter, and it was for the sake of Rong Xun’s body. However, leaving Rong Xun alone to be a vegetarian, Chu Feng felt that he was leaving out Rong Xun, so he took a chicken leg, peeled off the fried layer, picked a little meat and put it in Rong Xun’s bowl.

Chu Feng: “You can only eat this much today. I will take you out to eat when you are better.”

Rong Xun nodded obediently and cherished the little chicken that Chu Feng had given him. The cautious attitude and faint smile of contentment of Rong Xun made Chu Feng feel sad— in fact, even if he was just a little bit nice to him, Rong Xun would still cherish it.
