The villain only wants to live a Buddhist life c12 part 1

Chapter 12: Dark Demon Perseveres

Tuesday’s classes included Dueling, Arithmetic, and the History of Magic.

The first-year Dueling instructor, Professor Pavar Jones, was a dueling master with one-sixteenth giant blood!

Not only that, she was also the head of Noble House!

As a side note, the head of Knight House was Professor Sarah Silver, who taught Summoning.

The head of Magister House was Professor Lily Laplace, who taught Arithmetic.

The head of Fool House was Professor Didi Maxwell, who taught History of Magic.

As one might expect from a typical Galgame plot, all four house heads were women!

Saint Marian Academy, from its name to its principal to its professors, had a distinct atmosphere of female dominance.

Professor Jones, with her giant blood, was larger than an ordinary human in every aspect. She had short, neat hair, athletic muscles, bronze skin, and an overly developed secondary sexual characteristic—exuding a sense of robust health.

Though Dark wasn't particularly fond of this basketball-carrying professor, she seemed quite popular within the academy.

Rumor had it that Professor Jones' giant blood came from the giant royal family, while her father was a legitimate human noble. Though her race wasn't pure, her nobility was undeniable!

Among senior students of Saint Marian, she had many admirers, both men and women, mainly for her power of course.

Both Noble House and Knight House first-year students were excited for Professor Jones' Dueling class.

However, after one class, Professor Jones only explained some very basic theoretical knowledge.

She covered the rules and tactics of dueling competitions, combinations of magic cards, and the interactions between racial attributes…

The good news was that the dueling club would be recruiting new members on Friday afternoon.

The bad news was that the prerequisite for joining was owning a deck of at least twenty magic cards!

This bad news crushed the hopes of the freshmen eager for dueling.

It was only the second day of school, and who could have twenty magic cards by then?

But to be fair, if one couldn’t even gather a deck, why join the dueling club?

Next up was Arithmetic class, which was even more tedious and difficult than Dueling.

The freshmen were utterly miserable, unanimously declaring it the hardest class of the first year!

Dianna said she spent the whole class daydreaming.

Although Rose was trying to pay attention, her face showed confusion, indicating she barely understood anything.

As for Dark, he wasn't listening at all.

This elementary-level math class insulted his intelligence!

[Pride +1]

Professor Lily Laplace, who taught Arithmetic, was said to be a fairy, a different race distantly related to elves.

Like elves, they had long lifespans and the wisdom accumulated over time.

Professor Lily Laplace preferred students to call her "Professor Lily."

Like most fairies, her body stopped aging at the appearance of an eleven- or twelve-year-old human, making her look younger than the freshmen sitting in class.

She was about the same height as Dianna.

Additionally, she had a pair of dragonfly wings and liked to go barefoot, never letting her feet touch the ground.

The third class, History of Magic, was taught by Professor Didi Maxwell, another fairy, but with butterfly wings and a much older appearance, complete with deep wrinkles on her forehead.

Professor Didi’s teaching style mirrored Professor Lily’s, strictly by the book.

Both of them likely had vast knowledge and wisdom but were poorly suited for teaching…

History of Magic was undoubtedly the dullest class, but fortunately, Professor Didi was kind and gentle. Even if a student accidentally fell asleep in class, she would only lightly tap them and deduct five or ten points at most.

Additionally, the Wednesday evening Astronomy class was also taught by Professor Didi.

But Astronomy was an "interest class," held only when Professor Didi announced it.

That meant no Astronomy classes for the first month after school started.

Similarly, Friday’s Magic Beast class was also postponed.

The Magic Beast class was said to begin next semester, though it could be further delayed.

First-year students weren't allowed into the dungeon outside the castle, making it difficult to study Magic Beasts properly.

As a result, one week had only six courses left: Summoning, Magic Theory, Potions, Dueling, Arithmetic, and History of Magic, each with two sessions per week.

It was a very light load!

----

In the library.

Dark managed to sign in before Pandora arrived and snagged the same seat as yesterday in the reading room.

He then took out the Arithmetic workbook and began working on the problems.

These problems were way too easy!

Armed with the multiplication table, he breezed through them.

By the time Emma sat down diagonally behind him, he had already completed half of the workbook.

By five in the afternoon, he had finished the entire thing!

That meant he had essentially finished all the Arithmetic homework for the semester.

Dark closed the workbook with satisfaction and placed it neatly on the upper left corner of the desk.

Since he was calm while doing the problems, he didn't trigger the [Greed] indicator.

However, when he felt pleased with his progress, a [Pride +1] appeared in his field of vision!

"Does this mean I’m proud and complacent of finishing the elementary school math problems?"

Dark was shocked!

Emma was also shocked!

She couldn't imagine how Dark had managed to finish an entire workbook in such a short time!

They were both first-year students, so why was he so extraordinary?

Stunned, Emma doubled down on her efforts to study Arithmetic!

----

After finishing his homework, Dark noticed that his [Pride] indicator, for some reason, wouldn't go down. Though he didn't show it outwardly, he was growing increasingly anxious.

"Am I really that prideful?" Dark began to question himself.

----

That question lingered for an entire month.

Dark wasn't even sure how he survived that month!

But as the saying goes, life is like being watched by a persistent stalker. Since you can't resist, you might as well learn to enjoy it.

Dark became the most attention-grabbing star among the first-year students!

Every day, he would wake up at 6:00 a.m. and appear in the common room at exactly 6:15.

  3. Some introspection doesn't hurt! And MC stopped getting his wrath up when pride goes up. And he's the school idol now! Success! All that wothout interaction with the protagonist.
    Thank you for the chapter!

  4. Heard that Professor Jones’s giant blood origin was from the giant royal family, and her father was a pure blood human nobleman. Although she was not pure blood in terms of race, she was definitely pure blood in the sense of “aristocracy”!
    - He heard?
