Chapter 23 Ignorance (Part 2/3)
When Jun Liche arrived at Serene
Palace, the Empress was kneeling in front of the Buddha and praying for him. As
an attendant rushed in and chirpily announced the Sixth Prince's return, the
Empress quickly got up and welcomed him.
"Empress Mother. I've been
unfilial and caused you worries." Seeing the Empress, Jun Liche knelt and
bowed immediately.
"Get up, get up. Let me take
a look at you." The Empress quickly pulled Jun Liche to his feet.
Carefully, she sized up every corner of her son. Although he was slightly more
rugged from his journey, he did not lose weight or got injured. Only after her
thorough inspection was she relieved.
Jun Liche looked at Empress
Mother, teary-eyed and flushed with anxiety, he said smilingly, "I brought
you a gift."
"Stupid child, why did you
bring a gift. You just had to return safely. Come in, it's cold outside."
Empress held her son's hand and distinctively felt the warm palm in hers. Now,
she was genuinely reassured that Jun Liche was safe and had returned.
If something really happened to
this child, she would die from duress and sorrow. Even if she died, she would
not know how to face her sister, who left him in her care in the afterlife.
Fortunately, the Heavens watched over him and let Jun Liche returned safely.
At the same time, Jun Lixuan and
Ling Qiyang had left Your Royal Highness Yi Manor. They took their time, slowly
strolling back to their own home.
"What do you think of Mo
Qingge?" Jun Lixuan asked.
"Why are you asking this
suddenly?" Jun Lixuan had basically never mentioned this person to him.
For him to suddenly ask for his opinion, Ling Qiyang felt a little perplexed.
Jun Lixuan fell silent for a while
and said, "I always found him very mysterious. He seems to know something,

well with him."

"It's more interesting to
talk to him than with me?" Jun Lixuan raised his eyebrows. If he did not
know Ling Qiyang had no romantic intentions towards Mo Qingge, he would have
died from jealousy.
Ling Qiyang looked at him and
smiled, "What's the point of the comparison?"
"Master." The two were
talking, and they saw Ming Li running towards them. When he reached them, Ming
Li bent over and panted heavily.
"What's the matter?" Jun
Lixuan asked. From Ming Li's expression, it did not seem to be an urgent
matter.
"A message came from the
palace. The Emperor invites Your Highness and Prince Consort to a banquet
tonight. It's to celebrate the Sixth Prince's return." Ming Li said
happily.
"I see. Then, why are you in
such a hurry then?" Jun Lixuan was perplexed. "Are you afraid that no
one in the Capital knows that I'm going to enter the palace?"
Ming Li smiled and scratched his
head, "Well, I thought that you and Prince Consort needed to go back home
to change clothes. What if you did not have enough time because of my
tardiness?"
"Hm, very thoughtful of
you." Jun Lixuan nodded his head. Pulling Ling Qiyang's hand and walked
back quickly. This banquet was to celebrate Sixth Brother's achievements, he
could not be absent or late.
When the two changed their clothes
and entered the palace, Jun Liyuan had not arrived yet. The Empress was talking
to Jun Liche and seemed to have no time to worry about them. Her full focus was
on the son who had just returned from the expedition. Ling Qiyang smiled and
walked out of the main hall with Jun Lixuan.
"Want to play chess?"
Jun Lixuan suggested.
Thinking of playing chess, Ling
Qiyang shook his head. His memories of the previous aftermath were still fresh
in his mind. While it was acceptable to be more relaxed at home, some restraint
was needed in the palace. After thinking about it, Ling Qiyang said, "Why
don't I see Mo Yu'er?"
Jun Lixuan scanned his surroundings.
Usually, this little guy would run over by now. He asked the attendant outside
the hall, "Where is Mo Yu'er?"
"Your Highness, Mo Yu'er had
taken a liking to play at the artificial hills in the Imperial Garden recently.
He would only come back after dinner." The attendant looked down and
carefully replied. Facing His Royal Highness Ling, the attendants did not even
dare to breathe, let alone look him in the eye. Although he seemed much more
kind than before, the hostility on him still kept the attendants from getting
close and continue on their toes.
"Let's go to the Imperial
Garden." Ling Qiyang said.
"Okay." Jun Lixuan
nodded. The two of them did not let anyone follow them and walked to the
Imperial Garden alone.
As the
biting winter still lingered, the imperial garden was void of flora and fauna
with no scenery to admire. Although there were plum, pines and cypresses
growing, their limited blooming were nothing compared to the magnificent
springtime beauty when several hundred flowers blossomed simultaneously.
However, winter had its beauty. The vast spread of pure white snow was a sight
to behold.
