Chapter 19 The Fateful Meeting (Part 1/3)
At the edge of the pit, Jun Lixuan put down the injured man. Seeing the bleeding bruises, Ling Qiyang immediately knelt beside him and checked his pulse. Jun Lixuan watched quietly as the memories he had of this man flashed in his mind. Although they only met a few times in his previous life, and the man's face was stained with blood, Jun Lixuan recognised this handsome appearance almost instantly.
"How
is he?" Jun Lixuan asked.
"He
can still be saved. It's basically all skin trauma and without parasitic
infection. But we need to act fast. I'm afraid his body cannot handle it
." Ling Qiyang spoke and was about to take off cloak to put it on the man,
but Jun Lixuan stopped him.
"Be
careful not to freeze yourself." Jun Lixuan's eyes showed a weak smile. As
a doctor, Jun Lixuan appreciated Ling Qiyang’s kindness in helping others. But
as his Prince Consort, Jun Lixuan can't bear to watch him get cold.
Jun
Lixuan took off his cloak, wrapped the man in it and looked to Ling Qiyang for
further instructions. The latter found a pill from the medicine box, broke it
into smaller pieces and fed it into the man's mouth. He looked up and said to
Jun Lixuan, "We must hurry back to the manor."
Jun
Lixuan hesitated for a moment, and said, "Send him directly to the Third
Brother's house."
"Huh?"
Ling Qiyang looked at him puzzled. How could he let the person he saved to be
sent to the Third Brother's Mansion?
Jun
Lixuan pinched Ling Qiyang’s ears and said, “I don’t like having outsiders
distracting you when we are home. There are many people in the Third Brother's
mansion to take care of him. If you want to treat him, we can go over. It's not
far."
Ling
Qiyang squinted at his husband, evidently doubting this reason.
Jun
Lixuan smiled and said, "In the manor, you must focus on me."
Ling
Qiyang smiled helplessly. Whether the reason was true or false, he just had to
accept it. Even if this was just an excuse, Ling Qiyang trusted that Jun Lixuan
had his own reasons which he could not let him in for now.
"Let's
not delay any further." Ling Qiyang put the medicine box away.
"What
should I do here?" Jun Lixuan looked at the mass grave behind him.
Only
now did Ling Qiyang remember that there were still parasites in the pit.
"This is indeed the place where the parasites are raised. The black spots
that were attracted to the white powder were the larvae of the parasites. These
larvae would contest with others and eat the losers. Only the strongest would
survive and grow as they eat the weaker larvae. The mature parasites are not
that easy to be drawn out, only the Parasite Master who raised them can do it. The
easiest way to destroy them once and for all is to burn the entire grave,
including the parasites."
"Yeah.
Then let me get someone to guard this place, and I will ask Emperor Father to
make a decision later." If the Emperor was unaware of the incident, the
place would be blazing by now. However, they were here on Emperor Yanxi's
orders and needed to seek his advice.
"Alright."
Ling Qiyang took out some pills and passed them to Jun Lixuan.
Jun
Lixuan summoned a few shadow guards and gave them the pills. Their job was
simple, guard this place secretly and identify any suspicious person
approaching.
After
finishing the order, Jun Lixuan hugged Ling Qiyang and rushed to the Third
Prince's Mansion. The injured a man was carried by the shadow guard, following
closely behind.
In
truth, Jun Lixuan did not deliberately want to keep Ling Qiyang in the dark.
However, this was regarding his past life, and he did not know how to inform
Ling Qiyang. The injured man was Mo Qingge. In his previous life, Mo Qingge's
father was found guilty of a crime. As a result, he was sold as a slave before
he even turned fourteen. Later, he was bought by the Tranquillity Pavilion
owner and was taught how to play the zither. In the end, he became the leading
zither virtuoso of the Tranquility Pavilion.
Tranquillity
Pavilion was where gifted men and princes gathered to talk about literature and
appreciate music. Jun Lixuan was not fond of patronising this kind of place,
but Jun Liche liked it. Hence, the three brothers had visited Tranquility
Pavilion several times and had met Mo Qingge. While the interactions they had
were few, it had made Jun Liyuan fond of Mo Qingge. Coupled with Mo Qingge's
outstanding musical skills, Jun Liyuan admired him even more.
Initially,
Jun Liyuan wanted to pay his debts on his behalf and bring him to the mansion.
Alas, Mo Qingge had sworn never to enter any place related to the imperial
family in his lifetime. Tranquillity Pavilion had always respected the opinions
of its staff. Hence, even if Jun Liyuan liked him, he failed to bring him to
his side.
