Chapter 19 The Fateful Meeting (Part 2/3)

Alas, fate was twisted and toyed with life. When Emperor Yanxi visited Tranquility Pavilion in disguise, he took a liking to Mo Qingge. After he returned to the palace, he wrote a decree and summoned him into the palace. Jun Lixuan still vividly remembered how the colour drained from his Third Brother's face when he heard the order.

Everyone initially thought that Emperor Yanxi called Mo Qingge into the palace to be his secret male concubine. Tradition dictated that the Emperor’s concubines should be women. However, keeping male concubines secretly were common. To this fact, everyone just turned a blind eye, as long as there was no pregnancy involved.

However, Emperor Yanxi did not treat Mo Qingge's as everyone had guessed. Instead, he arranged him to the Education Division in the palace to teach zither to the musicians. Although Mo Qingge was only a zither teacher, Jun Liyuan did not dare to ask the Emperor to marry Mo Qingge. After all, he entered the palace and belonged to the Emperor. Mo Qingge could never be his unless Emperor Yanxi gave Mo Qingge as a reward, or he took the position of Emperor.

The red string of fate snapped with that decree. However, there was a chance for redemption now. Since this person was picked up by Ling Qiyang, Jun Lixuan felt a need to do something for his Third Brother. Regardless of whether Jun Liyuan still liked Mo Qingge in this life, he had to create a chance for their meeting.

When the two arrived at the Third Prince's Mansion, Jun Liyuan had already returned from the barracks. After hearing the report, the attendant greeted him. Seeing that the shadow guard behind them holding an injured person, he asked, "What's the matter?"

"It's a long story. Please arrange an empty room first. Saving lives is more important." Jun Lixuan did not explain much.

Jun Liyuan did not probe further and said, "Go to my yard, no one will bother you there." He gestured for them to follow his lead into the mansion.

Jun Lixuan's brows furrowed. Jun Liyuan had the same as him. They did not like others to enter his personal yard—however, this time, he brought them in without asking more questions. Fate seemed to be intriguingly intertwined between the two of them.

Entering the room, the shadow guard put the injured man on the bed and stepped back. Ling Qiyang ordered the attendants to prepare hot water and asked Jun Liyuan for some clean clothes. During the preparation period, he wrote a list of medicinal herbs and instructed the attendants to procure them.

After Jun Liyuan ordered the attendants to listen to Ling Qiyang's arrangement, he and Jun Lixuan stood in the room's corner. As Ling Qiyang fought to save the injured man's life, Jun Liyuan listened to Jun Lixuan's report about the mass grave.

First, Ling Qiyang cut Mo Qingge's clothes and took them off. Then, he took a clean white cloth, dipped it in water, and wiped the severely injured hands clean. All ten fingers were mercilessly broken. They were red and swollen, with dark purplish spots all over. At first glance, they were ghastly. Ling Qiyang could not imagine how this person survived the excruciating pain. Mo Qingge's fingers were very long, and his nails were flat. Judging from his skin texture, he had a pair of fair-skinned hands. Alas, the original appearance was unrecognisable with the bruises and cuts.

After taking out the silver needles, Ling Qiyang pierced a few needles on his head, arms and back of hands. The needles on the pressure points would relieve as he attempted to reconnect the shattered bones. While the pain would not disappear, it could be more bearable. After the acupuncture was done, Ling Qiyang poured several powders into another cup and added water. Very quickly after the powder and water mixed, a sticky mixture formed.

Putting on thin gloves, Ling Qiyang began to the broken fingers. Each time a position was fixed, Ling Qiyang applied a wound medicine layer and spread a cast with the sticky mixture. The powder mixture solidified quickly under Mo Qingge's body temperature and immobilised the fingers. To ensure that his hands remained dexterous after healing, Ling Qiyang paid extra attention to the muscles and joints' position. Although the procedure was slow, it had to be foolproof.

After ten fingers were cast, Ling Qiyang wrapped them individually in white cloth. By the time the procedures were completed, Ling Qiyang was drenched in sweat.

Ling Qiyang took a long, deep breath and refocused himself. After the more serious broken bones, he had to treat the countless whip bruises. While applying medicine to him, Ling Qiyang's fingers felt a peculiar touch on Mo Qingge's shoulders. Upon further inspection, he found an undetectable line. As he pulled along the edge of the line, a piece of fake skin was torn off. Underneath was a shocking discovery. He found the mark of an Omega, a lotus blossom marking on his scapula.

Quickly, Ling Qiyang lowered the bed canopy halfway to block the sight of Jun Lixuan and Jun Liyuan. Everyone else in the room was attendants, so there was no need to be overly wary of them.
