“Riiing ring ring”

The sound of the alarm clock was so sudden that she sat up from the bed.

She opened her eyes to see that she was still in her bedroom. She could see the light pink walls, unkempt white bookshelves, and a bit of a mess on the table. There was also a hand ledger that she had forgotten to close. Several animal stamps and washi tape were thrown aside, and her coat was draped on the back of the chair.

She froze for several minutes before returning to her senses.

Did she have a nightmare?

But it felt too real.

He Xing recalled what happened in her dream as she felt a dull ache in her back. She jumped out of bed and put on her slippers. Then, she went to the landing mirror and turned her back to it. She stretched her neck to take a look and saw that her pajamas were perfectly intact. There were no traces of being stabbed at all.

What was she thinking? It was just a nightmare. How could she be killed!?

He Xing could not help but laugh as she rubbed her head. She had felt that she may not be able to wake up. Her head was still a mess.

Her mother yelled out from the kitchen,”Xiao Xing, have you woken up? Go wash up and quickly come over for breakfast.”

He Xing came to the living room after washing up and getting changed.

There was a glass of milk with cereal and a hot fried egg on toast placed on the table. It was just like yesterday’s breakfast.

He Xing took a sip of milk and stared at the swaying branches outside the window.

How could a dream be so vivid?

Now that she recalled it, every detail was as clear and lifelike as a butterfly's wing.

But there were many events she could not remember.

After confessing her love to Jiang Yingjing, she met Qin Xingli while returning home. Was that really what happened? What did she eat last night? Qin Xingli’s fried rice with eggs? Why didn’t she have any memory of it? Was Qin Xingli also a part of the nightmare?

The more she thought, the more confused she became and her head ached from thinking about it.

As the saying goes. What you think about in the day, you will dream of at night. She must’ve been overthinking from being under too much pressure lately.

He Xing focused and tried to clear out those confusing thoughts from her mind.

After breakfast, she put the books of that day’s classes into her bag, said goodbye to her mother, and set out for school.

He Xing pushed open the door of her classroom on the third floor and walked straight in. She sat at her usual place and took out the English textbook from her schoolbag. Suddenly, she heard a surprised voice from the front row: “Little Star, are you here to look for me?”

He Xing stiffened up. She looked up slowly and saw Qin Xingli sitting in front of her.

He smiled at her with his clear eyes sparkling.

“Senior.”

Something was wrong.

How could a senior be in the same classroom as her?

He Xing looked around and found that there was not a single familiar face among the students around her. She didn’t know any of them.

She looked up at the podium and saw a woman with black-rimmed glasses, whom she did not recognize at all.

Although He Xing’s grades weren’t particularly good, she wasn’t so stupid that she wouldn’t be able to recognize her substitute teacher.

Even a fool would know exactly what was going on. He Xing’s face instantly turned red. She hurriedly put her books back into her bag, and stammered as she said to Qin Xingli: “Ah senior, I may have walked to the wrong classroom.”

Saying that she flew out of the classroom.

He Xing thought about it several times as she stood in the corridor. She didn’t go to the wrong classroom.

So why was the classroom full of strangers? The substitute teacher was not the English teacher she was familiar with.

He Xing stood in the corridor scratching her head, not knowing what to do. Suddenly, she heard a crisp voice call out to her.

“Xiao Xing, why are you so late?”

He Xing turned around to see Xia Xiyan panting as she ran over. Xia Xiyan grabbed onto her hand and continued running while pulling her along.

Xia Xi Yan was still wearing that pure beautiful white skirt like yesterday. As the department’s beauty, her stature was tall, and her legs were long and white. Her short black hair was tucked over her ears, making her look very pure and beautiful. She also had a refreshing temperament. Along the way, she attracted the eyes of countless people. He Xing was pulled by her to the end of the corridor of the classroom, pushed open the door, and saw Teacher Zhang placing the teaching plan on the table.

“Oh, no. We already had this class yesterday.”

He Xing stood at the door of the classroom, not daring to walk in. She tightly grasped Xia Xiyan’s hand.

Xia Xiyan looked at her in surprise: “What are you talking about?”

They walked over to the third row and took a seat at the same place as yesterday.

Teacher Zhang called for attendance as usual. He Xing found that all the students were the same people who had this class with her yesterday, but they didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong.

Zhang Kexin and Wang Meixuan were sitting in the front row. Zhang Kexin was wearing the same red short-sleeve T-shirt, with two plastic rabbits tied to her hairband as yesterday. Wang Meixuan dropped her eraser. She bent down to pick it up while dropping her pen again. She looked at Zhang Kexin and smiled awkwardly.

He Xing glanced at Zhou Mingming and Li Wei, who was sitting diagonally in front of her. Zhou Mingming stretched. The five yuan in his back pocket was about to fall. Li Wei stealthily took a sip of his milk and accidentally spilled a few drops on his new clothes. He was so angry that he almost swore.

Everything was like deja vu.
