Chapter 445: You Have One Turn to Let Your Imagination Run Wild
"In the name of Dark Demon, magic summon—Primal Dragon Egg!"
As Dark began his incantation, even the professors overseeing the other three arenas instinctively turned their gazes toward him. Of course, they only intended to glance briefly before returning their attention to their own fields.
But that single glance froze them in place.
A colossal dragon egg materialized from the summoning light, standing silently before the red contestant’s magic ball. It had no limbs, clearly unable to move, and was a special type of magical spirit. While egg-shaped magical spirits weren’t particularly rare, they were seldom used.
However, the dragon egg summoned by Dark exuded a faint primordial aura—an ancient presence that ordinary people couldn’t sense but which caused the three professors to stiffen with surprise.
Unlike the professors’ sharp perception, White Gawd felt an instinctive surge of danger when he saw Dark summon an egg. He pushed himself to accelerate his own summoning process, compressing it down to nearly five seconds!
Among first-year students, apart from Dark, only top-tier students could condense the casting time of a Normal Summoning Spell to this extent. In fact, this already met the standard for second-year end-of-term evaluations—a remarkable achievement.
Thus, before the dragon egg had fully hatched, White’s first magical spirit appeared in the blue contestant's summoning zone. But it too was an unexpected, never-before-seen magical spirit!
The surrounding spectators suddenly realized that both duelers had started the match with completely unfamiliar magical spirits. This instinctively made them feel as though both sides had already played their trump cards. And on White’s side, that was indeed the case.
The magical spirit he summoned at the start had been crafted under Tom Nixon’s guidance, using his own refined blood as a special ingredient alongside another core material. The method of refinement itself was intricate, one that only magisters with unique talents could employ. With this technique, White had created a total of three powerful magical spirits.
Take, for instance, the current one—a standout among 3-star spirits, almost replacing [Troll] in his heart. What emerged was a horrifying giant worm as thick as a barrel!

With three ultimates, this [Blood Colossus Worm] possessed the potential of three orange-tier cards. Its balanced stats formed what was known as a "bucket build," though its attack was 50 points lower than [Troll]. However, in actual combat between 3-star magical spirits, those 50 points barely mattered.
In every other aspect, [Blood Colossus Worm] outclassed [Troll]. Especially with its three ultimates: [Bloodlust], ensuring sustained combat; [Blood-Forged Carapace], boosting offense and defense; and [Bloodborne Explosion], whose devastating self-destruct left behind [Blood Worms] as offerings for further summons—all incredibly practical abilities.
White Gawd had watched Dark’s duel with Justin Wayne and knew that Dark could indirectly summon a 5-star magical spirit within just nine seconds. Though his [Blood Colossus Worm] couldn’t directly compete with a 5-star entity, it could use its self-destruction to severely wound such an opponent. Afterward, the resulting [Blood Worms] could serve as sacrifices to summon another 5-star magical spirit through a Special Summoning Spell—[Bloodseeker]!
[Bloodseeker], capable of being summoned using Normal Summoning under “specific conditions,” was White’s strongest ace. If even [Bloodseeker] failed to secure victory, then losing would be acceptable—he’d at least put up a fight.
Deep down, White Gawd didn’t believe he could win. As Robert had said, surviving a few more rounds against Dark counted as success, especially since he was stronger than Justin Wayne. Still, protecting this last line of defense required effort.
Two months had allowed White to take a significant step forward, but Dark’s strides were undoubtedly greater!
---
Though [Hatching] took some time, by the moment White’s [Blood Colossus Worm] crawled over with its massive body, the [Primal Dragon Egg] had already cracked open with countless fissures.
"Roar—"
Under everyone’s watchful eyes, a roar imbued with unmistakable draconic majesty erupted from within the shell. A silver-white hatchling with piercing blue eyes burst forth, shattering the eggshell completely!
---
Meanwhile, with his summoning cooldown refreshed, Dark casually began summoning [Shuckle]. Just as [Shuckle]’s summoning light descended, the [Blue-Eyes Young Dragon] took flight.
The nearly three-meter-tall juvenile dragon, carrying an unrefined yet formidable draconic presence, surged toward the blue half of the arena like a gust of wind. The cramped battlefield, ill-suited for dragon-types, was crossed in the blink of an eye.
The [Blood Colossus Worm] abruptly reared halfway up, its crimson folds rippling and emitting a vivid scarlet glow.
"Blood Colossus Worm, Carapace!"
White Gawd’s urgent command rang out. The bloody radiance emanating from the worm’s surface solidified into flowing, blood-like armor. Under the effects of [Blood-Forged Carapace], the explosive power of the [Blood Colossus Worm] increased by twenty percent.
Alarms blared in White Gawd’s mind. Without hesitation, he commanded again, “Do not falter! Make them pay the price—Bloodborne Explosion!”
"Boom!"
The [Blood Colossus Worm]’s eyes flashed red, and it detonated explosively before making contact with the Blue-Eyes Young Dragon. The tactic was decisive.
The blood wave unleashed by the [Blood Colossus Worm] surged toward the incoming Blue-Eyes Young Dragon. The fearless juvenile dragon was engulfed in the explosion in an instant. But with a resounding cry, it broke through the blood wave and lunged straight for the blue contestant’s magic ball.
White Gawd clenched the card for [Bloodseeker] tightly in his hand, but the five-second summoning spell was only halfway complete when the gaping maw of the Blue-Eyes Young Dragon closed around the blue magic ball. Gritting his teeth, he chose to continue the summoning rather than interrupt it to control the magic ball and escape—a gamble born of witnessing too many cases where controlling the magic ball left no time for summoning, leading to death.
But as the crimson-skinned demonic figure of [Bloodseeker] barely poked its head out of the card, the unprotected blue magic ball was crushed in a single bite by the Blue-Eyes Young Dragon!
Even with 8,000 Health Points, it might have lasted a bit longer, but the mere 2,000 magic energy value of the life barrier couldn’t withstand that bite.
"Bang!"
As the shattered remnants of the life barrier scattered like stardust, the magic energy reading dropped to zero. [2000 → 0]
---
Victory or defeat never gives one time to prepare mentally.
Only now did the summoning light of [Bloodseeker] fall onto the blue summoning zone. Driven by its [Bloodlust] instinct, the crimson-skinned demon lunged at the nearby Blue-Eyes Young Dragon. But without activating any ultimates, it stood no chance of piercing the dragon’s scales.
The Blue-Eyes Young Dragon widened its adorable big eyes. After the outcome was decided, it clamped the creature’s head between its claws and began rubbing it vigorously, much like kneading a dog’s head.
---
This small comedic interlude added color to the otherwise swift conclusion of the match.
---
It wasn’t until now that the audience outside the arena snapped out of their shock at Dark’s “Special Summoning” of a 6-star dragon-type. Whether it was the sacred aura and imposing draconic presence emitted by the hatchling or the sheer speed of the summoning, everything left them astounded.
Dark Demon’s [overpowered] reputation grew even more [overpowered]. As for White Gawd, who had fallen a second faster than Justin Wayne, he barely registered in anyone’s thoughts. After all, whoever took his place likely would’ve met the same fate.
Failure wasn’t terrifying. What was terrifying was when others—and even oneself—considered failure inevitable.
White Gawd, far from feeling overly disheartened, merely experienced a subdued sense of loss as he retrieved [Bloodseeker].
