Chapter 162: That Settles It

At He Zhichen’s words, Lin Tian suddenly felt a wave of insecurity and instinctively recoiled slightly.

“Mr. He—no, Brother Chen, can even this be analyzed with big data?”

“Of course,” He Zhichen replied earnestly. “As long as you provide enough information, I can calculate the highest probability of success for a confession plan tailored specifically for Miss Gan based on her dietary preferences, habits, interests, and more. From choosing the location to picking out outfits and conversation starters, I’ll handle it all.”

“A true master…”

Lin Tian clasped He Zhichen’s hands, momentarily overwhelmed with emotion.

“How did you know I’ve been worrying about this lately?”

In that moment, He Zhichen suddenly seemed so much greater in stature. No longer just a man glued to his tablet, he now embodied the ideal manager—an empathetic figure who truly understood what artists desired most.

“I told you,” He Zhichen spread his arms wide like an angel descending from above, exuding an almost divine aura. “I prefer discussing dreams over cold, hard data.”

This glowing image was how Lin Tian perceived him in that fleeting moment. But in reality, seeing Lin Tian so moved left He Zhichen momentarily speechless.

All those earlier details about music, training, and studios? Not a single one had registered with Lin Tian. Yet, one casual remark about romance sparked such enthusiasm.

So… was Lin Tian’s dream really music—or Gan Yanyu?

Before He Zhichen could say anything further, Lin Tian raised a hand to silence him. His gaze shifted toward Gan Yanyu instead.

If he was ready, then it was time to gauge her thoughts too—right?

“Miss Gan.”

Just then, Pu Yidan softly called out, approaching the girl. Gan Yanyu remained silent, her eyes fixed on the practice room where trainees were diligently rehearsing. She hadn’t spoken much since entering Yueyun Entertainment.

Pu Yidan leaned closer to Gan Yanyu’s ear, following her line of sight.

“You’re looking at yourself, aren’t you?” she asked gently.

Gan Yanyu turned her head, confusion flickering in her eyes.

“Your expression tells me you haven’t found yourself yet. Like me back then—did something go wrong?” Pu Yidan smiled warmly.

Gan Yanyu nodded slowly.

“Do you know how people in the company describe me?”

The girl shook her head.

“They call me ‘absolutely right’ and ‘absolutely confident.’ In their eyes, I’m someone who never makes mistakes and won’t tolerate any either. Any project I lead is bound to succeed; any team I manage will never have stragglers. Some privately refer to me as ‘Iron Lady’ or ‘Female Caesar.’ Funny, isn’t it? Those nicknames are proof they respect me.”

“…”

Gan Yanyu’s eyes widened in surprise. Despite their brief interaction, she couldn’t imagine Pu Yidan fitting such a persona.

“When you reach my position, becoming the person others need you to be becomes inevitable,” Pu Yidan chuckled. “My team needs a leader like that, and my subordinates expect a boss like that. So I became her—even though before stepping into the workforce, I was clueless enough to search Quora for tips on handling workplace relationships.”

Gan Yanyu absentmindedly twirled a strand of hair around her finger. Though she’d never worked a day in her life and had no experience navigating social dynamics, she understood Pu Yidan’s point—at least partially. What baffled her was how such a transformation occurred.

It wasn’t simply about putting on a facade. To inspire trust, one first had to embody excellence. Belief wasn’t something conjured through words alone—it required conquering oneself.

“A team needs a leader like me because it gives them psychological reinforcement,” Pu Yidan continued. “When they think, ‘If I work under Sister Dan, I must be meticulous and perfectionistic,’ they start living up to that expectation. Over time, these external suggestions become internalized, shaping who they are. And in turn, their growth motivates me to keep pushing myself.”

She smiled again. “Now, let’s return to my original question.”

“Miss Gan, the self you’re searching for—what does it look like?”

“…”

The girl’s pupils trembled slightly. Reflected in her crystal-clear eyes was the image of a severely asthmatic patient, sitting by the rooftop with vacant eyes—the autistic teenager she once was.

Without a word, she turned and walked back to Lin Tian.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Tian asked, noticing her slightly troubled expression but unaware of her conversation with Pu Yidan.

“We’ve seen enough. Let’s go.”

“Huh? Did you dislike it here?”

“No, it’s great. Mrs, Pu seems nice too.”

“Then—”

“Whatever you decide is fine with me, Lin Tian.”

Gan Yanyu gave a carefree smile before walking ahead.

“…”

Behind them, Pu Yidan draped an arm around He Zhichen’s shoulders, her voice teasing yet tinged with admiration.

“This kid is so adorable. If we sign her, I’ll treat her like my own daughter.”

“That’s the seventh new artist you’ve said that about,” He Zhichen grumbled, his face darkening.

“Oh? Really? Then Gan Yanyu will definitely be the youngest and most spoiled one!”

“…”

“Mr. Lin!”

He Zhichen called out, stopping Lin Tian mid-step. With Gan Yanyu’s approval secured, he wanted to know Lin Tian’s decision immediately.

“Mr. He.”

Lin Tian turned around, prompting He Zhichen to straighten up and adopt a serious demeanor.

“You previously calculated that if ‘Moonlight and Cat’ signed with a record label and released an album, the projected sales for the first month would be…?” Lin Tian struggled to recall the exact number.

“Yes, 110,000 copies,” Lin Tian confirmed, impressed by He Zhichen’s sharp memory.

“And if we factor in our debut MV along with the album, how many copies do you estimate we’d sell?”

“Sales would increase by 64%, reaching at least 180,000 copies. No problem.”

“All right.”

No threats or ultimatums were needed. If the album failed to meet expectations, He Zhichen would undoubtedly find his own way to make amends.

Lin Tian raised a finger decisively.

“In that case, our debut album and MV are in your hands.”
