Listening to Mithra’s incessant chatter, Viya found it hard to reconcile her impression of the noblewoman with her preconceived notions of aristocrats.

“So, have you decided? Rest or continue? You must be exhausted by now.”

Mithra was rambling because she secretly feared that Viya might choose another Lord’s Island.

Even a well-coordinated four-person team needed to transition through a few Tranquil Islands after completing a Lord’s Island to recover before attempting another high-intensity exploration.

If Viya forced herself to continue, failure would be inevitable.

I actually wanted to go to the Tranquil Island the most… Viya muttered inwardly. If given the choice, she would’ve picked the safest island, maybe to admire the scenery and enjoy nature along the way.

But she knew “herself” likely wouldn’t think that way.

‘Hopefully, the next enemy won’t be so… horrifying.’ Viya prayed silently.

Suddenly, the clouds beneath their feet began to tremble, and countless raindrops fell upward into the endless void above.

Looking up, at the farthest reaches of the sky, countless pure white orbs coalesced into rings, interlocking and rotating in rhythmic harmony.

The next moment, a sight that would forever be etched in Viya’s memory unfolded: those interlocking rings simultaneously opened countless eyes. The surrounding sky deepened, and millions of cold, indifferent gazes stared down upon them.

It was none other than Taroya of Cycles—renowned even today in the Empire of Enlaini.

He’s watching me… Viya’s heart raced, her thoughts scattered as her gaze was drawn to the myriad alluring eyes in the sky, unable to look away.

From those cold, detached gazes, Viya quickly realized His focus wasn’t on her but seemed directed at something deeper within her.

A sharp burning sensation seared her hand. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a mark with a cycle rune slowly appear on her hand, then swiftly fade.

Along with it disappeared the great presence in the dome above.

“Were you even listening to me?”

As her distorted senses gradually returned, the first thing Viya saw was Mithra’s concerned expression.

Mithra waved her fingers in front of Viya’s unfocused eyes, worriedly saying:

“You’re completely out of it. Let’s just leave for now.”

If it weren’t for the fact that leaving required unanimous consent from the entire team, Mithra would’ve already exited the Void Domain to rest.

“…” Viya still hadn’t recovered from what had just happened. If she could, she might have collapsed weakly onto the ground.

This wasn’t an issue of courage or resolve—it was the overwhelming spiritual pressure exerted by a higher being. Simply being in the same space left her nearly suffocating.

‘Are my wounds healed?’

‘Was it because of that glance?’

Viya suddenly noticed how light her body felt. All the scars left by the banshee had vanished.

So that great being came all this way just for this? Viya grumbled internally, using the joke to slightly dispel the lingering fear.

“There’s a new milk tea shop near Central Plaza. How about we check it out instead…”

Mithra persisted, trying to persuade her one last time.

But the next second, a vivid red light engulfed their figures.

---

When her vision cleared, they stood on a snowy mountain. Six, seven, or eight massive wolves glared viciously at them. At the rear of the pack, the proud wolf king raised its head, its icy gaze exhaling bone-chilling breaths.

“I knew it!” Mithra lamented, turning her head aside.

When she turned back, the complex emotions in her eyes had vanished, replaced by unwavering focus as she prepared for battle.

She looked toward the enemy ahead.

The Icefield Wolves excelled at leveraging their numbers, luring enemies into prolonged fights until their joints froze, at which point they would swarm.

But they were nowhere near as formidable as the banshee.

There were varying levels of difficulty among First Ring Lord’s Islands. Some featured bosses like the banshee, with both mechanics and substantial stats, while weaker ones could be tackled by a team of four average Ascenders.

This encounter was back to the normal intensity of a typical Lord’s Island.

Defeating the wolf king would scatter the remaining pack.

“I’ll handle…”

Before Mithra could finish, a sudden whooshing sound cut through the air, sending snow flying.

Her astonished eyes reflected a blurred figure. A sword swept through the drifting snow, drawing a perfect arc in the air.

The wolves lacked significant intelligence, meaning Viya didn’t need to vary her attacks—pure, straightforward slashes sufficed.

A gruesome wound appeared on the neck of the lead wolf.

The wolf king reacted, letting out a loud roar as the pack surged forward.

Viya didn’t dodge. She let her sword hang naturally at her side, exhaled deeply, and allowed magical motes to rise behind her, weaving into a phantom laureate above her forehead.

She abruptly struck the sword against the mountain wall.

CLANG—

The piercing shriek shattered the already fragile minds of the wolves, causing them to collapse into the snow.

The effect also reached the wolf king. Though Viya wasn’t a banshee—capable of singing for minutes to wear down her foes—she couldn’t afford such luxury.

She quickly dispatched the wolves around her and charged toward the wolf king, determined to eliminate the biggest threat first.

Meanwhile, several ice chains extended from behind her. While marveling at Viya’s continued performance after battling the banshee, Mithra didn’t forget to cast spells to support her.

---

“Wait, is this real? My teammate actually does stuff?”

Lin Qi was momentarily stunned as he watched the boss being controlled.

He hadn’t encountered such a reliable teammate in ages. Most NPCs in games only cast flashy but ineffective skills to provide companionship.

But this NPC not only unlocked treasure chests but also cast useful spells.

Way too overpowered!

If the developers accepted feedback, I could suggest toning this down before release… Lin Qi thought virtuously, unable to bear seeing players get spoiled.

Under the alternating control of Banshee’s Kiss and his teammate, these monsters posed little threat. It took some time, but they were eventually cleared.

To be honest, Lin Qi felt nothing about Mithra’s exaggerated descriptions of these lords.

The difficulty in fighting the banshee lay in figuring out how to attack it. As for those so-called fierce claw strikes and brutal lunges…

Isn’t it just a matter of pressing the dodge button?

He’d need to keep an eye out for relevant skills in the future; otherwise, Round Two would be tough.

After clearing the Lord’s Island, Lin Qi scanned through the blessing options once more.

[Blessing of Cycles (Blue)]
[Effect: Each time you heal, you deal minor damage to your surroundings.]

Pass. There are no reliable healing skills right now.

[Effect: Increases damage by 5%.]

Simple and straightforward, but the stat boost is too low.

[Blessing of the Sighing One (Purple)]
[Effect: Increases laureate range by 30%, boosts effects by 35%, increases cooldown by 15%.]

Now this is good!

Lin Qi’s eyes lit up. The stats are quite generous!
