Chapter 147: The Battle of Apalus (Part 4)

The moment Tang Fang’s hand, crackling with electric energy, touched the lamppost, a powerful electromagnetic pulse surged through the closed-circuit surveillance system. Like a hurricane unleashed, it swept across the steel mill and surrounding areas.

“Zzzt… Zzzt…” In the command center’s monitoring room, hundreds of screens abruptly went dark.

“No… no, this is bad! Really bad!” The guard who had just witnessed Tang Fang disable the entire surveillance network with some unknown device leapt to his feet in panic.

“Du Shaohui, stop stammering and tell me what happened,” said the head of security, casually tossing aside his poker cards as he turned toward the commotion. But when he saw the wall of blackened monitors, his face twisted in shock as if someone had stabbed him from behind. “What the hell happened? Maintenance team! Get the maintenance team over here!”

“D–Dei… Dei Chief… Th–those three people we let in earlier did it,” Du Shaohui stuttered nervously.

“Du Shaohui, how many times have I told you not to mumble during critical moments?” The security chief shot him an exasperated glare before finally piecing together his words. “Wait… what? You’re saying those three VIPs caused this? Are you messing with me?”

“D–Dei Chief, I swear it’s true.”

“To hell with your stammering! Straighten out your tongue before speaking.” Clearly, the security chief didn’t believe him. “Maintenance crew, hurry up and investigate the issue!”

While chaos erupted in the control room, outside in the outer ring of the Apalus military-industrial complex, Housen glanced at the now-useless lamppost and grinned. “This is what they call letting the wolf into the sheepfold.”

Tang Fang ignored him and waved his hand. Instantly, 112 Marines, 12 Marauders, and 12 Reapers materialized on either side of the road.

“Alright, troops, it’s showtime,” Housen bellowed, ready to lead the charge. But Tang Fang stopped him. “Hold on.”

“What now?” Housen asked, puzzled.

“This isn’t enough manpower…”

“Not enough?” Both Housen and Arroz were stunned. The combat potential of these 136 soldiers was equivalent to half an armored brigade. How could that not be sufficient?

Without answering, Tang Fang focused his mind within the system interface. Back at the terran base, there were now 20 supply depots, and the Orbital Command Center had utilized its “Calldown: Extra Supplies” ability to increase their supply capacity—each depot could now support 16 units instead of the usual limit. Thanks to the recent battle at Kabuto Air Force Base, resources had skyrocketed to 58,445 minerals and 23,750 gas. Meanwhile, the current supply cap stood at 149/314. It was clear that breaking the 200-unit threshold had provided Tang Fang with unprecedented advantages—he could field more troops and wield greater military power.

Brave Bastion wasn’t just a fortress; it bristled with automated defense robots and possibly even Heavy Armor Warriors. Tang Fang knew their mission required maximum impact—to force the Third Army stationed on the eastern front to retreat by causing chaos here. Small-scale skirmishes wouldn’t cut it. They needed to obliterate an entire garrison sent to quell the uprising, creating a diversion so massive it would leave the enemy scrambling.

Each Marauder cost 100 minerals and 25 gas, occupying two supplies. Each Reaper consumed 50 minerals and 50 gas, taking up one supply. After careful consideration, Tang Fang made a bold decision. He ordered SCVs to construct ten additional supply depots while queuing up 150 Marines, 50 Marauders, and 10 Reapers for production.

Resources plummeted from 58,445 minerals and 23,750 gas to 44,445 minerals and 6,250 gas. Simultaneously, the unit count surged to 409/474. With a flick of his wrist, a wormhole opened, and another 210 soldiers poured out.

Housen stared dumbfounded, while Arroz’s cigar fell from his mouth, scattering ash onto the ground. Combined with the forces already present, they now had 262 Marines, 62 Marauders, and 20 Reapers. By sheer numbers alone, this was equivalent to a full battalion. Factor in their superior combat capabilities, and they rivaled half an armored division.

“Arroz, take 100 Marines, 30 Marauders, and 10 Reapers. Head west along Route A, then turn north. Leave nothing standing—burn and blast everything in your path.”

“Housen, you’ll lead 100 Marines, 30 Marauders, and 10 Reapers east along Route B straight toward the inner ring…”

“You can count on me for destruction,” Housen interrupted eagerly. “I’ll make sure nothing survives. The military will see what true devastation looks like.”

“Understood? Then move out.” Without further explanation, Tang Fang took the remaining 62 Marines and 2 Marauders, and headed directly north.

Arroz and Housen’s missions were simple: wreak havoc. Their goal was to level the industrial zone entirely. Tang Fang, however, aimed for the inner ring—the research institutes housing cutting-edge military technology.

“It’s showtime, boys!” Housen roared, launching a grenade that flipped the armored vehicle upside down. Like a rampaging bear, he led his squad eastward in a fiery tide of destruction.

Arroz, ever the composed one, picked up the half-smoked cigar from the ground, stuck it nonchalantly into his mouth, and signaled to his waiting unit. With swift strides, he disappeared westward.

As Tang Fang watched them vanish into the horizon, he donned a set of Marine armor and gazed toward the towering helical structure at the heart of the Apalus complex—a skyscraper hundreds of meters tall, piercing the heavens like a celestial pillar.

“Boom! Boom!” Muffled explosions echoed continuously, sending plumes of black smoke and crimson flames billowing into the sky. What had once been a tranquil factory zone was now engulfed in chaos. Ground tremors rippled outward as fuel-laden pipelines detonated violently.

Thick clouds blotted out the sun, while roaring infernos raged like dragons. Blast furnaces, storage tanks, and fuel chambers exploded one after another, sending seismic waves radiating across the area.

“Thud… Thud… Thud…” The deep rumbling from beneath the earth sounded like hammers pounding against leather drums, instilling terror in all who heard it.

Inside Brave Bastion’s command center, the guards had abandoned their idle chatter, gambling games, and naps. Instead, they exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what to do next.
