Chapter 135: New Abilities

The Adjutant's response nearly made him bite his tongue off—maximum simultaneous connections capped at 65,535.

Sixty-five thousand five hundred thirty-five… The total number of satellites orbiting the planet Krotan didn’t even come close to a fifth of that figure. This meant that right now, he had the ability to intercept any communication transmitted via satellite across the entire planet.

As Tang Fang basked in this overwhelming discovery, the Adjutant dropped another bombshell. The Orbital Command Center wasn't just capable of eavesdropping, analyzing, and decrypting encrypted messages—it also came with features like disguising data streams, tampering with military orders, jamming mobile communications, and more.

But it didn’t stop there. The Orbital Command Center could block remote requests, seize control of satellites, and even hack into ground-based mainframes.

Tang Fang couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret about Marion wiping out all of Krotan’s military satellites earlier. If they were still operational, he’d have the freedom to manipulate the military forces at will. After all, military satellites weren’t limited to communications, reconnaissance, navigation, or early warning systems—they included interference satellites, energy platforms, and even ones armed with nuclear missiles and particle weapons.

If those offensive behemoths were still around, turning their firepower toward Rheinstadt’s governor's mansion would’ve been quite the spectacle.

"Useless? Useless my foot!" Tang Fang muttered under his breath. If the Orbital Command Center was useless, then what wasn’t? This was a true strategic-level asset—at least within human society. Compared to Overseers or Sentinels, the Orbital Command Center was far more valuable.

The abilities to summon Mineral Mules and increase supply limits paled in comparison to the sheer absurdity of the "Scanner Sweep." But upon reflection, it made sense. The Orbital Command Center was originally designed by humanity to manage orbital satellites. Breaking through government firewalls and taking control of them should be second nature. After all, the tech level in StarCraft was centuries ahead of where humanity currently stood.

After issuing the Adjutant the command to “connect to all satellites,” Tang Fang exited the system interface and began walking back down to the surface.

Unlocking the Orbital Command Center lifted some of the sorrow weighing on his heart. It seemed Nehemiah had informed the special ops team about his actions. As he walked, every person he encountered either saluted him solemnly, nodded with a smile, or bowed deeply. Each gesture conveyed gratitude in its own way.

Tang Fang acknowledged them one by one with slight nods. As he continued walking, his mind wandered back to an earlier incident. When little Sam perished, his rage had erupted, unleashing something akin to the high-frequency electromagnetic pulse generated when the runic crystal sphere exploded in the Epsilon ruins. That pulse had overloaded the Heavy Armor Warrior's circuits and boosted the output power of the marine armor significantly.

What was that all about? He tried focusing his mind, shutting out all distractions, and tuning into whatever was nestled in his forehead. In his mind's eye, a golden ε symbol spun endlessly, surrounded by countless faint currents dancing erratically.

"What is this thing? Why does the Epsilon character keep appearing in my mind?" Suddenly, he recalled Arroz and Housen mentioning something strange about his forehead back on Planet Namie. At the time, he thought they were teasing him, but after experiencing the "Epsilon Maiden's Memoirs" and witnessing this phenomenon firsthand, he had no choice but to accept that the Epsilon script resided in his forehead. As for the faint currents, there was no doubt they were residual electromagnetic pulses absorbed from the explosion of the runic crystal sphere.

Tang Fang attempted to activate the golden rune, but nothing happened. Then he focused on channeling a single thread of the faint current. This time, there was movement. Like a mischievous sprite, the current slid down from his forehead, traveled along his right arm, and finally pierced through the insulation layer of his powered armor glove. It erupted from his palm as a crackling net of high-voltage electricity. Simultaneously, the power readout on his armor's UI spiked, and flashing red overload warnings bathed his face in crimson light.

Startled by his own power, Tang Fang instinctively jerked his hand away, breaking his concentration. The basketball-sized grid of electricity vanished, retreating back up his arm to nestle once again in his forehead as a seemingly weak high-frequency pulse.

He swallowed hard, forcing himself to calm down and replay the scene in his mind. Could it be that the high-frequency electromagnetic pulses absorbed from the runic sphere had somehow converted into controllable energy within him?

With this thought, he glanced around and noticed a soldier's club across the way. Looking down at his hand, then back at the recreational facilities inside, an idea sparked in his mind. He strode forward purposefully and pushed open the door.

Ignoring everything else, he headed straight for a virtual panoramic shooting game cockpit. Flipping the power switch, he waited as lines of text scrolled across the screen until the system booted up.

He had zero interest in the game itself—he was here to test the destructive potential of his newfound electrical grid.

Bringing his hand close to the control panel, he concentrated, repeating the steps from before. A burst of high-frequency pulses shot out from his palm, unleashing compressed electromagnetic energy that tore through the device's circuits. Capacitors exploded, sending plumes of white smoke billowing out, while sparks danced wildly inside the machine due to overloaded coupling effects. The monitor flickered briefly before going dark. Moments later, a tremor rippled through the cockpit, followed by a loud boom. Thick black smoke poured out of the shattered control panel, flames licking at the edges.

A sharp hiss echoed as the thermal sensors activated sprinklers, cutting off the club's power and dousing the area with cold water. Within seconds, the feeble flames were extinguished.

Glass shards clung to Tang Fang's powered armor, and soot smeared his once-pristine shoulder plates. Yet behind the visor, his face radiated both exhilaration and disbelief.

EMP. He could generate a high-frequency electromagnetic pulse storm using nothing but his flesh-and-blood body. With this ability, whether it was the Heavy Armor Warriors or Locust Swarm clusters, anything electronic in his path would collapse into useless scrap.

Insulation barriers? Please. High-energy pulses capable of piercing marine armor? Humanity’s current technology wouldn’t stand a chance against such raw power.

“I wonder how much stronger I’ll become once I equip Ghost armor,” Tang Fang mused aloud, raising his head to gaze at the blood-red sunset outside the window.

In the center of his right palm, a three-foot blade of azure lightning pulsed violently, sending arcs of jagged electricity leaping in every direction.
