Chapter 3: Self-Rescue

Upon hearing the robot's words, Jack Sun froze for a moment, almost thinking he misheard. Was the robot just complaining about its name?

"Hello? I'm asking you a question, retard. Answer me."

As the robot spoke again, Jack Sun realized this must be the change after the logic system iteration.

But he never expected the intelligence of the robot to change so drastically after the iteration. The once cold and mechanical robot had now learned to swear.

"So the iteration has been activated already? That’s really impressive."

"Of course." The robot put its hands on its hips, slightly leaning back, looking extremely proud.

Although impressed, facing death rendered everything else insignificant. The space station was descending, and if he didn't find a way to save himself, both of them would be doomed!

"Have you found the location of the escape pod in the subnet data?" Jack Sun hurriedly asked the robot.

"Nope." The robot's words instantly dashed Jack Sun's hopes.

"But hey, we don't need to escape. This thing has a shock absorber. Although I'm not sure how much of it works, considering the friction with the atmosphere and the final impact, the chance of disintegration is less than 10%."

It was indeed good news, but the station not disintegrating didn't mean they would land safely.

Watching metal debris floating around due to weightlessness overhead, Jack Sun could imagine how deadly they could become upon reaching Earth's gravity.

In a life-or-death situation, Jack Sun's mind raced. "Robot, I need a safe place to cushion the landing impact and evade the debris. Do you know where on this space station such a place might be?"

"How would I know? I haven't worked on this ship before." The robot shrugged.

"Are you serious! Weren't you connected to some subnet data? Isn't there any map or something in there? Have you only learned how to speak foul language?" Jack Sun quickly moved to the door, cautiously peeking outside.

"Screw you! How can you blame me for this? That subnet isn't from this ship, who knows which nearby debris still has a working WIFI." The robot trailed behind Jack Sun, muttering.

Somehow, it seemed the robot's feet and hands had magnets or suction cups, allowing it to stand effortlessly even in weightlessness.

"Moreover, why look down on foul language? The art of language starts from dirty words."

Annoyed, Jack Sun didn't bother arguing with the foul-mouthed robot. He just wanted to survive.

He racked his brains, thinking of ways to maneuver this situation. Suddenly, he remembered the glitchy monitor from before. "Right, that glitchy display!"

Even though it was obviously broken and unusable for him, that didn't mean it was useless for everything else.

"Robot! Can you extract data from the broken computer, like hacking or something like that?"

"Of course! That's my specialty." Saying this, the robot's screen displayed a smiley face. (^ω^)

"Great, follow me." Jack Sun maneuvered through floating debris, making his way back.

When he returned to the arched glass room, he saw Earth outside the glass, gradually enlarging, resembling a colossal creature about to engulf them with its gaping, dark mouth.

Seeing the planet, the mother star, grow larger, Jack Sun felt an overwhelming sense of oppression and suffocation. He was finally experiencing megalophobia.

Suppressing his fear, trying not to look outside, he led the robot to the malfunctioning screen. "This is it! Hurry, time is running out."

"Watch this." Next, Jack Sun witnessed the robot's left hand rapidly splitting, extending several optical fibers resembling jellyfish tentacles, swiftly sliding into the crevice on the left side of the screen.

Subsequently, the screen flickered even faster, displaying glimpses of tourist ads, revealing this area was just a designated viewing spot on the space station.

At that moment, a faint "cracking" sound was heard. Jack Sun turned to look to his left.

Seeing a crack climbing rapidly from the bottom of the glass cover, accompanied by the cracking sound, he gasped, feeling like his soul was about to escape through the top of his head.

"Hurry up! Quickly! The glass won't hold much longer!!"

Jack Sun, drenched in cold sweat, scanned around for a solution.

Suddenly, he stepped back to where the red dot was before, pushed it hard, and with a jolt, the previously fallen arc-shaped wall slowly rose up.

However, before Jack Sun could relax, with a loud crash, the glass that hadn't been completely sealed shattered instantly, exposing him to the vacuum of outer space!

In a split second, Jack Sun grabbed onto the nearby chair, almost wedging his entire body onto it, preventing himself from being pulled outside by the suction force.

Feeling the suffocation, boiling saliva, expanding lungs, and intense burning sensation on his skin, Jack Sun thought he was about to pass out.

"Hurry!" Jack Sun shouted at the robot with his last bit of strength.

As the screen flickered rapidly a few times, the robot retracted the optical fibers. It then kicked the screen a few times. "Damn it! Are you giving me the data or not?!"

After smashing the screen, the robot used an optical fiber to search among the debris. When it found a fingernail-sized chip, it inserted it into a slot on its forearm. The screen on its face flickered rapidly, displaying a large exclamation mark.

"I found the map! Let's go to section E4."

Just then, the arc-shaped wall above finally closed, and the unbearable discomfort also finally disappeared.

Exhausted and pale, Jack Sun floated in mid-air, and the robot gave him a thumbs-up. “Good job."

Jack Sun was incredibly grateful for activating this robot. Finally, they found a way out of the death trap.

The robot came over, helping Jack Sun upright. "It's just one atmospheric pressure, look how tired it made you. Flesh-made bodies are truly weak."

With the robot's assistance, Jack Sun arrived at the so-called E4 cabin, which seemed to be a cultivation cabin.

Black, withered traces covered the floor and ceiling - these were plants that had dried up and decayed without any care.

"Why are we here? Is this place safe enough?" Jack Sun asked.

The robot didn't speak. Instead, its index finger shot out a bright blue flame, cutting the wall on the left. As the wall was sliced, a blue gel-like substance, similar to jelly, oozed out from within.
