Chapter 3 — Confession

Part 1
_________________________

When Chu Feng returned with the things he bought, Rong Xun had already been admitted to the ward.

Chu Feng gently pushed open the door of the ward. The ward was quiet and the lights were bright, making the room even colder and whiter.

Chu Feng gently put down the things in his hand. Rong Xun wasn’t awake and there was still half a bag of IV drip, which should have just been replaced. Rong Xun frowned, obviously not sleeping peacefully and he didn't know if he dreamt of something bad or his body was uncomfortable.

Song Bin arranged a single room for Rong Xun. The room wasn’t big, but the facilities were relatively complete, conveniently located inside the room. However, there was only one bed, so Chu Feng would have to sleep on the sofa if he wanted to rest.

Chu Feng turned on the bedside lamp and turned off the headlights. The light in the room dimmed and he felt more comfortable. After drawing the curtains, Chu Feng sat down on the edge of the bed. He looked at Rong Xun, whose brows were furrowed, then tucked him inside the quilt.

The incident of rebirth really surprised him, but it was also a chance given to him by the heavens, a chance to redeem himself. He couldn't make the same mistakes he made before, he must plan for the future not only for himself, but also for Rong Xun.

Chu Feng knew very well that he must compensate Rong Xun in this life. He wanted Rong Xun to have a good life. This was what he owed to Rong Xun and what Rong Xun deserved.

But in order to give Rong Xun a good future, he must first have a certain amount of financial ability. The theory that the economic base determines the superstructure was applicable in many aspects. Only if he had the ability could he pave the way for Rong Xun's future, and Rong Xun's future could go smoothly.

In his previous life, his grades didn’t enter a domestic university, so his family sent him to study abroad. He didn't take classes seriously for more than a few days at a foreign university. After graduation, he didn't learn anything, he earned nothing except for a diploma. After returning to China, he also entered the entertainment industry with a playful mindset and ended up making a good living unexpectedly.

Genetic inheritance was really a wonderful thing. He had followed his mother and he is very talented in acting. He had a great talent for acting. Even if he didn't come from an acting major, after some simple training, his acting was no worse than that of a professional and even with more vigor. With his family as his backing, his acting path went very smoothly. He won the best Newcomer in the first year and then went straight to the top of the film industry the following year. It could be said that he had developed well among his group of actors, making him the best actor of his generation. At the age of 26, he won two international awards for Best Actor in a literary film, and he became the hottest actor in China.

Apart from acting, Chu Feng couldn't think of any other ways to make money at the moment, so in this life, he would probably continue to follow this path. Although the entertainment industry was chaotic, if he was well connected and had a wide network of contacts, it would be easier for him to pave the way for Rong Xun when the time came.

As for the rest, he would just take one step at a time. In short, after reading the novels left by Rong Xun, he was able to get this chance of rebirth, he felt that the heavens were looking out for him. At least he had a chance to compensate, and he wouldn't live in regrets all his life. He also wouldn’t let Rong Xun's feelings that moved him have no place to rest.

Rong Xun let out a muffled grunt, his eyelids moved slightly, and then slowly opened his eyes.

Noticing that he was awake, Chu Feng hurriedly stood up and leaned forward a little and asked softly, “Awake? Is there any discomfort?”

Rong Xun's confused state1 seemed to awaken at the sound of his voice, his opened eyes stared at Chu Feng blankly for two seconds. Then, as if remembering something, he grabbed the quilt and hid inside, as if he was afraid of Chu Feng, and as if he did not want to see him at all.

Chu Feng quickly grabbed his hand pierced with a needle and said softly, “Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you again.”

Rong Xun struggled even harder when Chu Feng grabbed his hand, and his breathing became heavier.

Chu Feng was not upset. He only patted Rong Xun who was hiding in the quilt, and said, “Don't move around. You have a needle in your hand. If you touch it, you will have to puncture it again.”

As if he had found safety under the blanket, Rong Xun did not struggle so much, but Chu Feng could still feel Rong Xun trying to shrink the hand he was holding into the quilt.

Chu Feng sighed in his heart; it was his own fault in the first place. Even if Rong Xun hit him now, he would not fight back.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Chu Feng gently patted Rong Xun and said, “You have a needle in your hand, you can't move around. You behave, I will let go of my hand, okay?”

After a moment, the quilt moved, Chu Feng knew that Rong Xun was nodding his head. Only then did he let go of Rong Xun's hand, and place it on the side of the bed, then spoke and asked, “Are you hungry?”

Rong Xun didn't say anything2, he just shrank in the quilt, like a cub who had lost protection suddenly found a defensive shell.

Looking at Rong Xun who was hiding, Chu Feng wanted to slap himself. How much of a bastard he had been back then to do such a thing? How Rong Xun got through this period in the first place, he couldn't even think about it.

The quilt trembled slightly from time to time, Chu Feng frowned, worrying if Rong Xun was shivering because his fever hadn't gone down, “Is it cold?”

Rong Xun did not answer.

Chu Feng felt that this would not work. In case he was really cold and shivering, he had to let the doctor come to see him, so he didn’t care about Rong Xun’s resistance. He pulled off the quilt from Rong Xun’s body, and what met his eyes was Rong Xun's face full of tears.

Chu Feng's heart ached a lot, he reached out to wipe the tears on Rong Xun's face, but the more he wiped it, the more he could not wipe them clean at all…

“I'm sorry.” said Chu Feng then he stopped moving.

Rong Xun didn't look at him, just lay down on the bed and said something in a soft voice. The voice was very small, but Chu Feng heard it, Rong Xun asked him “why.”

Chu Feng pulled the pillow over, propped up Rong Xun's head so that he could lie on it and be more comfortable.

After a moment of silence, he replied: “Rong Xun, I like you.”
