The Actor and His Three and Half Years Old Sister | Chapter 10 Part 1

Chapter 10 Part 1

Translator: Rya

Chu Xiaoyi really didn't expect Chu Jiadong to play very well.

Chu Jiadong started playing stiffly and gradually became more comfortable and familiar. He frequently threw three-pointers, making Chu Xiaoxiao cheer joyously. Unlike Chu Xiaoyi's playstyle, he didn’t run and attack all the time but scored points with sophisticated and precise shooting skills.

Chu Xiaoyi was a bit confused, he suddenly felt that his family was hiding a crouching tiger. Chu Xiaoxiao being proficient in Russian was already fair enough. How could even Chu Jiadong suddenly become a skilled basketball player?

In Chu Xiaoyi's eyes, his father, Chu Jiadong, was a boring, headstrong person. He seemed to have no special hobbies, but he would boast of himself from time to time. Besides, he also liked to belittle others' interests in order to show his own insights. For example, Chu Xiaoyi used to like to play guitar, but Chu Jiadong dismissed it as worthless, resulting in Chu Xiaoyi never wanting to share anything with his father.

Everything was inferior, only education was worthy. That was the only belief in Chu Jiadong's life. Chu Xiaoyi's flamboyant hobbies were mostly useless in his father's eyes. They were just an accomplice in delaying his academic performance.

Therefore, Chu Xiaoyi had never played with his father in the past, and whoever allowed him to play would not directly help in his study.

Chu Xiaoxiao excitedly shouted from the courtside: "Go, Daddy! Go, Daddy!"

The score between the two was unexpectedly tight, with Chu Xiaoyi's repeated attacks being fruitless while being invaded by Chu Jiadong’s strong yet calm defense. They were all quite absorbed in the game, running around and jumping up and down with all their might.

As the day grew dark and the surrounding landscape grew blurry, it became clear that night was about to fall. Yet Chu Xiaoyi still desperately wanted to win, but Chu Jiadong smiled and waved his hand: "No way, I'm too tired, I'm already out of energy..."

Chu Xiaoxiao saw the two stopped in the middle of the court, she was hurriedly run over with her small steps while glancing at Chu Xiaoyi proudly. Chu Xiaoyi didn't know how her small face could produce so many expressions, and she could still look haughtily at people.

Chu Xiaoyi and his father were unable to decide the outcome as the final result was the exhaustion of Chu Jiadong's physical strength. However, Chu Xiaoxiao felt that her father had won a big victory. Provided with her dad's temperament, his skills were good and didn’t show off, while compared with her stinky brother, he would be flying to the sky if he could somewhat play basketball!

The street lights were already on when they went home together. The father and son had just had a fierce competition, and now the atmosphere was not too tense, at least they could say a few words to each other. Chu Xiaoyi walked home while dribbling the ball, and said dully, "I don't even know you can still play?"

Chu Jiadong: "I liked to play basketball in college."

Chu Xiaoyi's current mood was very delicate. He always thought his father was a bookworm student and never engaged in any sports.

Chu Xiaoxiao borrowed her father to destroy her brother, she proudly raised her small chin: "There are experts beyond our small world, there are skies beyond our skies, you still don't know many things."

Chu Xiaoyi saw the way the little thing got her way. He was afraid that his hands were dirty so he couldn't rub her head around indiscriminately. Instead, he could only say: "It's not that you can play, why are you being so excited? You can't even shoot the ball, wait until you know how to play properly, only then you can be arrogant, okay?"

Chu Xiaoxiao disdainfully glanced at him while shaking her head: "Towering genius disdains a beaten path. It seeks regions hitherto unexplored"1

    Chu Xiaoyi: "???"

Chu Xiaoxiao: "I speak English this time, you should be able to understand it, right?"

Chu Xiaoyi: "..." These days you couldn't even talk to your sister if you were not good at foreign languages!

Chu Jiadong saw his elder son’s dumbfounded face, he smiled and persuaded him to make peace: "Well, well, Xiao Xiao has the way of Xiao Xiao, and Brother has his own way. You all have different good ways..."

As an illiterate English listener, Chu Xiaoyi felt isolated and unable to continue talking. He simply turned off the topic and muttered, "Actually, we can still fight for a while."

Chu Xiaoyi had not yet had his fun, he couldn’t help but feel regretful and disappointed. He didn’t know when he would play next time, and it was estimated that his opponent would hardly be a ‘father’ anymore.

Chu Jiadong: "No, no, I'm out of strength today."

"You used to have good stamina, when you beat me it was a ......" Chu Xiaoyi's voice stopped abruptly when he realized what was slipping out of his mouth, he wanted to hit himself in the mouth. He felt that He Xin's worries were indeed correct. He always couldn't control himself and said something out of place.

Since Chu Xiaoyi returned home, he had deliberately restrained himself a lot, trying to maintain the sunny side in front of his family. But the joyful moments after exercise made him slacken for a bit and lose his tense state. He didn't mean to be sarcastic on purpose, but the words came out spontaneously when they came to his lips, which was hard to guard against.

Sure enough, Chu Jiadong obviously heard Xiao Yi's words clearly, and he showed an agitated look in his eyes, seeming to be at a loss. His lips opened slightly and moved lightly, as if he wanted to say something, but made no sound.

Under the streetlamp, Chu Xiaoyi suddenly noticed that his father had some gray hairs, and suddenly felt a bit bad, his heart inexplicably sour. He hoped that his father would be as vigorous and confident as he used to be. So that he would be able to rebel against each other with confidence, just as he wanted to do in his childhood.

Yet he couldn't do this. Before he could prove anything, Chu Jiadong had already grown old.

Chu Xiaoyi waited with fervor for a fair fight, but his father had long since lost the strength to fight. Before he could win, the opponent raised his flag and surrendered, leaving him with endless suffocation. He had no way to strike out at his father again, but what had happened to him in the past?

The time flew by, and he no longer had the opportunity to speak out his grievances and rants.

Once the perfect timing was missed, there was no longer any point in confiding.

  1. This is actually aggravating to read. In a good way as in good writing but damn talk about the basic picture of every asian child who has suffered verbal and physical abuse growing and the parents has never apologized but merely grew old, gentle, and or forgetful, suffocating the child from ever getting closure. Tooooo real
