Chapter 20 — Holiday
_________________________

When Chu Feng returned home, his parents were there, and Chu Rou also came back and was sitting in the living room watching TV with their mother.

“You’re back?” seeing him coming in, Song Xin said with a smile, “Go wash your hands and change your clothes. Dinner will be ready soon.”

“Okay.” Chu Feng answered, carried his school bag, and was ready to go upstairs.

Chu Tang looked at the time and asked, “Didn't the school finish early? Why did you come back at this time?” Chu Rou had been back for a while, which made Chu Tang not only wonder if Chu Feng had gone out to make trouble with someone else.

If it was the former Chu Feng who heard his father's question, he would have blown up. But now Chu Feng was not so easy to lose his temper, but his father's words still made him feel a little uncomfortable.

“My deskmate and I discussed a problem for a while, but it was a little late.” Chu Feng didn't smile, but he didn't lose his temper in the end.

Chu Tang was silent for a moment and said, “Oh, go upstairs and change your clothes.”

Chu Feng was stunned by his father's attitude. For a moment, he felt that his father was not so difficult to get along with, as long as he didn't go out to make trouble.

Song Xin scolded her husband half-heartedly, saying that he didn't trust her son.

Chu Tang said in a helpless tone, “Don't I care about him?”

Chu Rou smiled at her somewhat awkward father and blinked at Chu Feng.

Chu Feng smiled at her and went upstairs without saying anything.

At dinner, the family sat at the table and Chu Rou chattered continuously about the school affairs these days. Chu Tang and Song Xin listened very carefully and asked a few questions from time to time. The atmosphere was very good.

After Chu Rou finished, Song Xin asked Chu Feng, “What are your holiday arrangements?”

“There is nothing for the time being. I'm going to ask the tutor to make up for a few more days after I rest at home.” Chu Feng said his plan, and then asked, “What's the arrangement at home?”

“Tomorrow we are going to have lunch with your grandparents. After that, there's no arrangement.”
Song Xin said.

Chu Feng nodded and said, “Okay.” His grandparents died a few years ago, so now they usually eat at his grandparents' side during the New Year and holidays. There were no relatives at his father's side anymore, so they can just walk around during the New Year.

“Are you satisfied with the tutor I found?” Song Xin asked.

“En, he’s very good. I understand the lecture,” Chu Feng said.

Song Xin smiled and nodded, “That's good. You can set a holiday to make up for a few days of classes, and I'll call him for the tutoring fee.”

“Okay.” Chu Feng replied, adding soup to Song Xin with a wink.

Song Xin's smile deepened, and her eyes looking at Chu Feng were full of love.

After dinner, Chu Feng went upstairs to read. He knew that the exam results after returning from this small and long holiday might not be satisfactory. But he only hoped that he would not let Rong Xun down. If he could get a better score, Rong Xun would have more confidence in them going to the same university in the future.

Around seven in the evening, Gui Heng's parents suddenly came. Gui Heng's parents are busier than Chu Tang and Song Xin, so they could only take time to get together during the long holiday.

Gui Heng's parents came to express their gratitude to Chu Feng. They said that Gui Heng finally began to make progress after listening to Chu Feng. They didn't have time before. Now they finally have time, so they came quickly.

Chu Feng and Gui Heng have had a good relationship since childhood, and misfortunes always come together. Now Chu Feng began to make progress and didn't let his son fall behind. Gui Heng's parents were very happy to see that Gui Heng had really begun to work hard. No matter what the result was, as long as they were willing to work hard, they would be very satisfied as parents.

It was also the first time for Chu Tang to be thanked by people. He was surprised and he didn't know how to answer. He was at ease in shopping malls and entertainment circles, but he seemed to have no way to deal with his children's problems.

It was Song Xin who smiled and praised Gui Heng. She didn't give her son credit. She only said that Chu Feng raised the point of Gui Heng. Finally, it was true that Gui Heng wanted to work hard.

After talking for a while, Song Xin called Chu Feng down. After all, Chu Feng always showed up when Gui Heng’s parents came home.

After that, the two families talked about something else. At nearly nine o'clock, Gui Heng's parents left and went back.

Before Chu Feng went upstairs, Chu Tang stopped him and said, “Chu Feng, you must study hard. Dad is very happy.”

This was the first time his father had said such a thing to him. Chu Feng looked at his father for a few seconds and smiled. He suddenly found that in fact, he and his father didn't need to be so tit-for-tat. There were reasons for this. He rebelled, his father was dissatisfied, and the total number fell on him. Naturally, he was unhappy and had to quarrel with his father. But if he behaved better, even if he didn't get good results, his father wouldn't say much about him, and he wouldn't quarrel with his father. It felt really good to be at peace like this.

His father said so. Chu Feng thought he should say something, “I didn't learn much in the past two years. My grades may not be ideal in a short time. I hope you won't be too disappointed when you see the report card.”

“It's all small things. Everyone has what they are good at and what they are not good at. The key point is that you’ve grown up, it's enough to know you’ve worked hard. Your grades may determine your starting point, but what height you can reach depends on yourself. Grades account for only a small part,” Chu Tang said. He knew a lot of people, and they didn't graduate from famous universities. Some even didn't go to college for various reasons, but they found what they were good at, and finally, they still got up in the market.

“Well, I see,” His father said this, which actually relieved him of a lot of pressure. “Then I'll continue to go upstairs and read.”

“Go ahead.” Chu Tang nodded and rarely smiled at Chu Feng.

Back in his room, Chu Feng thought about his father's words and felt that the family was actually very good. Maybe in his last life, he and his father chose the wrong way to get along, which led to a precarious relationship.

For the next two days, Chu Feng got up at 6 a.m. on time. After going downstairs for a glass of water, he began to recite English and Mathematical formulas. He ate with his family at 7 a.m. on time and then continued to read. After lunch, Chu Feng would ask the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. He would spend the afternoon reading while drinking. Before dinner, Chu Feng would go out for a walk. After all, it was not good to stay at home for a day without activities. After dinner, Chu Feng would continue to read and go to bed on time at 11 o'clock.

In addition to having a meal with his grandpa at noon on the first day of the holiday, Chu Feng spent all his time on study. The degree of effort made Song Xin worry about whether he would be too tired.

This morning, after breakfast, Chu Feng said to his parents, “I want to find Rong Xun at noon and study with him in the afternoon. I happen to have several questions to ask him.”

As soon as she heard that she was looking for Rong Xun, Song Xin immediately nodded and said, “Go and invite Rong Xun to a meal at noon.”

Chu Tang looked at Song Xin puzzledly.

Song Xin said with a smile, “Rong Xun is Chu Feng's deskmate.”

“Oh.” Chu Tang suddenly said, “I happen to have the membership card of Changfeng Guild Hall. Where are you going to eat? Charge it to my account.”

Changfeng Guild Hall was a guildhall with a better environment in City C, it was basically the place for friends' parties or family dinners.

Chu Feng thought for a moment and said, “Then I'll take Rong Xun there to eat in the evening. I want to eat nearby at noon, and then find a quiet place to read.”

“Go,” said Chu Tang “If it's too late, call at home and I'll ask the driver to pick you up.”

“Okay.” Chu Feng nodded.

After eating, Chu Feng answered two more sets of papers. When the time was almost up, he packed up his things, said goodbye to his parents, and went out to find Rong Xun.

He told Rong Xun before going to bed last night and asked him to wait at home at noon. Originally, Chu Feng wanted to ask Rong Xun to go downstairs when he arrived, but later he thought that since he was there, he should always visit Rong Xun's parents. After all, he wanted to stay with Rong Xun all his life. It was very necessary to make a good impression on his elders as soon as possible. So Chu Feng went to the supermarket to buy some fruit and food before he rushed to Rong Xun's house.

Downstairs, Chu Feng called Rong Xun.

Rong Xun answered quickly. With a smile in his voice, he asked, “Are you here?”

“En. Is it convenient for me to visit your parents at your house? I always think it's impolite not to go through the door all the time.” Chu Feng smiled.

Rong Xun was silent for a moment.

Chu Feng intuitively felt that on Rong Xun's side, it seemed inconvenient. He was just about to say “forget it, it doesn't matter”, Rong Xun opened his mouth and said, “Come up, I'll open the door for you.”

“Okay.” Chu Feng smiled and hung up the phone.

The anti-theft door downstairs soon opened. Chu Feng went in and went directly to the third floor.

Rong Xun opened the door for him.

Seeing him coming up, Rong Xun smiled and said, “Come in.”

Chu Feng carried something into the door. After changing into slippers, he put them on the cabinet at the door and asked, “Your parents are not at home?”

“En…” Rong Xun looked at the things Chu Feng brought and said, “Sit down first and I'll pour you water.”

“Okay.” Since there was no one at home, Chu Feng didn't have to be so restrained. After sitting on the sofa, he simply looked around.

Rong Xun's house was very standard, with two rooms and one living room, transparent from north to south and good daylighting. Although it was an old house, it was tidied up very neatly and had a smell of home. He couldn’t tell why, but Chu Feng always felt that Rong Xun's family seemed deserted, but he couldn't point out where it was deserted.

Rong Xun put the water in front of Chu Feng and said, “You bought so much fruit, I can't finish it.”

“It doesn't matter. It should be kept in the refrigerator for some time.” Chu Feng felt that the three members of Rong Xun's family would certainly finish the fruits this holiday. “Have your parents gone out to visit relatives?”

Rong Xun shook his head, sat next to Chu Feng, and whispered, “I don't live with my parents?”

“Huh?” Chu Feng was stunned and didn't quite understand Rong Xun's meaning.

Rong Xun breathed softly and told Chu Feng about his family situation.

After hearing his words, Chu Feng hugged Rong Xun in his arms and said, “Why didn't you tell me earlier.”

The teenager, who lived alone for so many years, had always wanted to study hard and make his parents like him. How could he not feel distressed for Rong Xun?

Rong Xun leaned against Chu Feng and whispered, “After all, it's my family's matter. I don't think you must worry about me because of my family's matter.” If Chu Feng hadn't come to visit, he wouldn't tell Chu Feng in a short time.

“It's not a worry, it's a concern.” Chu Feng sighed in his heart, “I won't feel upset about your matters. I hope you are happy with me every day.”

“I'm very happy with you,” Rong Xun said. Chu Feng held his strength, which made him feel very relieved.

“But if you had told me earlier, I wouldn't have let you spend the festival alone.” Chu Feng felt bad at the thought of Rong Xun staying at home alone for two days.

“I’m used to it.” Rong Xun smiled lightly. “Besides, didn't you come to me?”

“You…” Chu Feng felt that Rong Xun would really hurt him all the time.

“I'm glad you came to me.” Rong Xun smiled.

Chu Feng kissed his hair and said, “It's not enough. I have to make you happier.”
