I Have a Date with a Zombie Chapter 1

Chapter One: Doomsday Zombies

In the evening of Cangzhou City, the burning clouds spread like beautiful silks in the sky. The brilliant orange-red color was tinged with gold until the sun sank completely and the afterglow in the sky remained.

However, under this brilliant sky, this city, and every other city under the blue sky, has become completely strange.

There is not a breath of life in the city. The streets were streak with blood, and the remains of some people were scattered all over the ground. In the setting sun, roars burst from the quiet street, and three or five people rushed out from a dark place not far away, and a little girl in a wheelchair was being pushed forward.

Behind the desperate fleeing crowd, there were roaring monsters. They have the shape of a human being, but their flesh is basically rotten. There was a beast-like roar from their mouth, some without arms or legs, but still chasing forward unconsciously.

One of the escaped men fell accidentally, and all the monsters that followed him flocked and dismembered him alive. The monster who didn't get a share keeps chasing without getting tired.

"Big Brother!" An inch-headed man, watching his brother being eaten by zombies, held up the stick in his hand in sorrow and angrily turned his head, and rushed toward the monster: "Damn zombies, I'm going to fight you."

"It's dangerous, don't go!" His companion tried to catch him, but he broke free.

He rushed into the group of zombies, jumped up, and blasted the heads of several zombies with a stick, blood splattered on his face, which was particularly tragic. It was impossible for him to deal with thousands of zombies alone, and he was quickly overwhelmed by the zombies.

Three people left, a man, a girl in a wheelchair, and a big guy with a beard all over his face. The expressions of the three of them were heavy, and all they thought of was running away.

The zombies behind roared and chased them, and the suffocating smell filled the entire street. Suddenly, Uncle Hu pushed the man back abruptly and said, "I'm sorry, little brother, you can help me block it first.”

The girl in the wheelchair screamed, and the man quickly steadied himself and stared at the uncle who had already run away, swearing, "Damn it!"

Fortunately, the man reacted quickly. When the zombies didn’t catch up, he quickly adjusted his direction and went through one of the alleys.

"Brother Meng Han, I'm scared." The girl tightly grasped the man's hand and hugged the doll in her arms tightly.

Meng Han comforted the girl while pushing her to run, "Mo Xi, don't be afraid, I'm here.”

His words seemed to give the girl extra encouragement."Yes."

The girl in the wheelchair is called Luo Mo Xi. She and Meng Han are neighbors. Mo Xi's father is a scientist. He used to develop rare drugs and patented inventions for the country. Now he is doing research for a pharmaceutical company.

When she was a child, she was in a car accident and could no longer stand on her legs. For his daughter to stand up again, her father quit his job at the National Academy of Sciences and became the most expensive researcher in a local pharmaceutical company. What he's working on now is how to get his daughter back on her feet.

He had studied it for more than ten years, and instead of waiting for his daughter to stand up, he waited for the outbreak of the last-day zombie virus.

Meng Han took Mo Xi all the way to escape, turned around and ran into a clothing store on the side of the road, and hid quietly.

"Shh, don't say anything." Meng Han motioned to Mo Xi to keep quiet. "I'll go inside and check it out. Be good.”

    Mo Xi nodded, "Okay."

He went to the store with a stick to see if there were any zombies. After confirming that there were no zombies in the clothing store, Meng Han returned to Mo Xi. "Mo Xi, let's hide here for a while and wait until we have a chance to rush out, then find something to eat."

Mo Xi was very well-behaved, "Yes." Holding the doll in her arms, she said guiltily, "Brother Meng Han, I am the one who is holding you back."

Meng Han sat on the floor beside her. When he heard what Mo Xi was saying, he raised his hand and rubbed her head. "What are you talking about, silly girl? I promised my uncle I'd take care of you." Seeing her pale face and her messy hair, Meng Han sighed in his heart.

When it came to her father, Mo Xi lowered her head and sobbed, "Will I never see him again?"

Meng Han looked at Moxi with some distress. This girl saw her father being bitten with her own eyes yesterday. I am afraid it will become a shadow for a lifetime. “As long as you are alive, my uncle will be relieved.”

Mo Xi lowered her head, and as soon as she closed her eyes, she could think of the picture of saying goodbye to her father.

The zombie virus appeared from nowhere. The next thing they knew, the whole city had become like this. Everyone chased after each other and bit each other as if this was normal.

Mo Xi and her father were hiding at home. As long as they didn't make a huge noise, they wouldn't attract zombies, but the golden retriever who grew up with Mo Xi was outside. To save the golden retriever in the garden, her father had to venture out, but he alarmed the nearby zombies and attracted a group of zombies to their house.

Just when the father and daughter were almost eaten by zombies, Meng Han came. Meng Han rescued Mo Xxi, but Father Lou was bitten by a zombie in order to protect Mo Xi. The golden retriever saw his owner being bitten, he rushed to bite the zombie and finally fell.

At the moment when he was surrounded by zombies, Father Luo tried his best to say, "Xiao Han, Xi'er will be left to you, please... take care of...Ah...”

“Dad...Dad..." Seeing her father surrounded by zombies, Mo Xi was anxious and angry but hated that she couldn't move her legs.

“Mo Xi, wake up." Meng Han gently wake Mo Xi up, who had fallen into a nightmare.

Mo Xi slowly opened her eyes, but there was darkness in front of her. She panicked. "Where are you, Brother Meng Han?"

Meng Han quickly reached out and shook her hand. "Don't be afraid. It's just getting dark and we can't turn on the lights. It's all right." Such composure and being so calm in the dark, that it gave her a sense of security.

Mo Xi nodded and looked through the window at the zombies wandering back and forth outside under the moonlight. She asked in despair, "Brother Meng Han, do you think we can survive?"

"Yes, of course, we just need to find other survivors. We can survive." In Meng Han's heart, there is no basis for what he's saying, but he needs to comfort Mo Xi.

“The uncle from before, why did he do that? "During the day, Mo Xi still remembers the action of Uncle pushing Meng Han.

"Meng Han looked at the innocent Mo Xi but he didn't know how to explain to her the dangers of the human heart. In such a situation, it makes sense for the uncle to abandon his partner and run away. After all, people don't kill themselves. However, Meng Han didn't want Mo Xi to know these things.

He said softly, "Uncle is helping us. He helped us by getting rid of the zombies so we can hide here."
