Chapter 21 Filial Piety (Part 3/3)
"Well,
you still remember your Master?" Ling Qiyang's Father glanced at him with
a subtle smirk.
"Master
left because of his anger at me. You know his temperament. I don't dare to
provoke him when he is angry. I thought he would write a letter to me after a
while. But I still haven't received anything until now." Ling Qiyang sat
back at the table and lamented. He knew that even if his Master ignored him,
his Father would not receive the cold shoulder.
"Your
Master wrote to me a while ago. He's at a small village to the west. The
villagers there contracted a strange disease. He is studying to see if he can
cure it." Ling Qiyang's Father smiled, "He also asked about you. I
told him that you are fine. He will be back soon."
Ling
Qiyang chuckled, "I'm relieved to hear that."
"When
your master writes again, I will tell you."
"Okay."
Ling Qiyang nodded. Now that he's learnt of the news from his Master, he had
nothing to worry about anymore. Finally, he could fully rest assured.
That
evening, Jun Lixuan kept Ling Qiyang's Father for dinner. Initially, he also
wanted Ling Qiyang's Father to stay the night. Alas, his offer was turned down
on the basis of upkeeping the traditional rules. With that said, Jun Lixuan had
to let people send Ling Qiyang's Father back.
After
several days of research and development, Ling Qiyang finally made a fool-proof
medicine and handed it to Jun Liyuan. In order to not raise suspicion amongst
the soldiers, Jun Liyuan specially made a few pots of mutton soup and mixed the
medicine into it. On the one hand, mutton was a good tonic during winter. Using
it as a reward for the soldiers was the perfect excuse. On the other hand, the
taste of the mutton was potent enough to cover up the medicinal after taste. In
the kitchen, the portioned the bowls of soup first, then mixed in the medicine
before service. The careful procedure ensured that every soldier had a drug
dosage, with no room for error.
While
researching the antidote, Ling Qiyang also continued Mo Qingge's treatment.
After going back and forth, he and Mo Qingge became familiar with one another.
He found that Mo Qingge was a man of many talents. Not only was he apt in
zither, calligraphy chess and art, he was also well-versed in epic poems and
historical text. Speaking to him was easy and conversation always flowed
happily between the two of them.
Today,
Ling Qiyang took the newly prepared wound medicine and went with Jun Lixuan to
treat Mo Qingge. When they reached, an attendant brought them to Jun Liyuan's
yard.
When
the two entered, Mo Qingge was sitting on the soft couch while Jun Liyuan sat
on the bedside. The latter gently blew on a spoonful of soup before sending it
into the former's mouth. Seeing the two coming in, Mo Qingge was choked in
shock, coughing with his head lowered. Contrastingly, Jun Liyuan was
indifferent. He smiled with the soup bowl still in his hands and said,
"Come on, sit down first."
Ling
Qiyang and Jun Lixuan took the offer and sat on the stools by the table.
Meanwhile, Mo Qingge struggled to stifle his coughs and pulled himself
together. When he finally looked up again, his face flushed so redly as if
blood could drip out of his pores.
Sensing
the stifling awkwardness, Jun Liyuan initiated a conversation, "Its
inconvenient for him to eat now that his hands are bandaged. Coincidentally,
the attendant who served him caught a cold, so I'm caring for him."
Initially,
Mo Qingge was against the idea of having somebody serve him. But the conditions
of his hands made it inevitable due to the immense inconvenience. Since Jun
Liyuan could not stay by his side 24/7, he reluctantly agreed.
Jun
Lixuan did not comment while Ling Qiyang chuckled and said nothing. If the
attendant fell sick, there were always others who could take his place. The job
would never land on the Master of the house.
However,
Ling Qiyang did not burst the bubble. He tactfully agreed, "His hands are
still healing. The initial recovery went well. Lesser use of the hands now is
beneficial for speedier recuperation."
Hearing
those words, the blush on Mo Qingge's face faded away. Jun Liyuan nodded and
continued to feed him soup.
"Your
Highness, Your Highness, the Sixth Prince is back." The butler rushed into
the room and announced with a bright beam on his face.
"Sixth
Brother is back? Let him in." Jun Liyuan put down the bowl and got up.
Jun
Lixuan and Ling Qiyang were also taken aback. Although they knew that Jun Liche
was returning soon, they had no idea which day it will be. Now that he was
already at the door, it was beyond fabulous.
"Third
Brother." Jun Liche walked in. Behind him, Wen Mo waited outside by the
door, " Oh? Lixuan and Qiyang are also here. I had just sent someone to
your manor to invite you to come. Looks like its a wasted trip."
"Let's
have a cup of tea first. Why did you come over as soon as you returned? Are you
not tired?" Jun Liyuan gestured to the tea freshly brewed by an attendant.
Jun
Liche picked up the cup before he lifted the lid, he saw Mo Qingge sitting on
the couch sharply. An unexpected smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, but
there was no deep meaning...
