Chapter
14 Lingering Love (Part1/4)
That
night, Jun Lixuan could not fall asleep. So he, albeit a tad selfishly, pulled
Ling Qiyang to chat with him. Ling Qiyang put down the medical notebook and
said, "Would you like Ming Li to burn some soothing fragrances?"
"It's
fine. Just talk with me for a little bit. I think I trained a little too long
after dinner. Now, my entire body is pumping with adrenaline." Jun Lixuan
would practice martial arts for half an hour in the morning and evening when
not commanding troops. As he watched the soldiers depart for war earlier in the
day, the warrior part of him felt an inexplicable urge for battle. As such, he
practised longer than usual.
"Alright.
Let me massage your head, to help you relax and sleep better." Ling Qiyang
sat up and put a soft pillow between his legs.
"Alright."
Jun Lixuan took up the offer and laid down. He did not want to fall asleep but
simply enjoyed having Ling Qiyang's soft, tender fingers passing through his
hair. They had been married for a while, but this was the first time Ling
Qiyang offered to massage him. Naturally, he would not refuse.
As he
felt Ling Qiyang's fingers comfortably pressing onto the pressure points, Jun
Lixuan asked, "I heard that you have two younger sisters. Why did I only
see one that day?"
"Little
sister has always lived in Madam's maternal home. She rarely comes back."
"Huh?"
Jun Lixuan was confounded. It did not matter if she was away on average days.
But how could she miss out on a family reunion during the New Year?
"When
Madam was pregnant with her, she believed that the newborn would be a boy. As
she was afraid of losing the child, she took all sorts of medicine to ensure a
smooth pregnancy and easy childbirth. Every day, she got people to read history
books and military strategies for me, hoping that her newborn son would
accomplish great things in the future. Unexpectedly, the newborn turned out to
be a daughter in the end. When she heard the news, Madam fainted.” Ling Qiyang
laughed contemptuously and then said, “What’s even more absurd was that after
she woke up, she decided to raise little sister as a son. She even prohibited
us from calling her "Sister". Tragically, even her name sounds like a
boy. Seeing this absurdity, even Sire could not do anything. If things did not
go as Madam wanted, havoc would break up daily."

her to be crazy about having a son. As Ye Empire had a low proportion of women,
they were not despised, unlike other nations. However, people still favoured boys. They were the clans' head and passed on the lineage,
generation to generation. Furthermore, having Omegas solved the problem of low
pregnancy rates due to the scarcity of women.
"Later,
it was Madam's mother who gave up on her. She removed little sister from the
mansion and decided to raise her. She quickly corrected her name and raised her
as a normal girl. However, Madam didn't want to meet her, so Little Sister
never returns to the mansion."
"I
see." To think that such an extreme mother existed. That also explained
Ling Jieyu self-centredness and radical reactions. "I hope she does not
turn out like her elder sister."

Qiyang smiled without saying a word. His memories of his little sister were
vague, leaving him unable to comment on her.
"Qiyang
..." Jun Lixuan looked up to the man who was massing his head with utmost
focus.
"Yeah?"
Ling Qiyang responded softly.
"Before
you married me, what were your plans for the future? Anything that you would
like to do?" Jun Lixuan wanted to know all Ling Qiyang's thoughts, not
just knowing his wife superficially.
"If
I didn't marry you, I probably will become a leftover Omega, unable to get
married after two more years. I've considered leaving the Capital and
travelling around, just like Master. I can cure diseases and save people's lives."
Even now, he wanted to go explore the world and helping those in need. After all,
doing good will accumulate blessings for Jun Lixuan.

Lixuan grabbed Ling Qiyang's hand. He sat up and looked into Ling Qiyang's
eyes. "If I want to accompany you, would you take me with you?"

Qiyang looked at Jun Lixuan in surprise. As a Prince, he had a country to be
loyal to and had duties as a son towards his parents. How could he leave
everything behind and go with him? Moreover, his explorations had no purpose
and time limit. Perhaps, when they returned, everything in the Capital would have
changed to be completely unrecognisable.
