Her Mountain, Her Sea 3.1 Deskmate

Luo Zhengli's friends managed to get her to come back to class. Her eyes were still red and puffy and she buried her head on the table as if she was wronged. After the lesson ended, the other girls from the dorm went to comfort her.

“Come on, they were just playing around.”

“Sigh, Chi Tang should have minded her own business. She had to stick her nose in.”

The more they comforted her, the more she cried, acting as if the biggest victim of the incident was herself.

Chi Tang thought her weeping was irritating enough, but Wang JiaoYang kept prodding her shoulder.

“Hey, were you jealous?”

“Do you not like me receiving the love letter, or do you dislike other people liking me?”

“If you are my girlfriend…”

Chi Tang could not stand him anymore and headed to the staffroom to find the teacher.

Students of their age refrained from finding teachers when they had problems; going to the teachers to solve a problem meant betraying the students’ side and becoming the teachers’ dog. Chi Tang did not care about that though. She was too lazy to do anything about it earlier on, but her annoyance has built up to an unbearable amount.

She has always disliked making compromises so of course, she was going to do something about this.

“Teacher, I would like to change seats. I can’t see the blackboard from behind.”

Although he seemed surprised, Old Fang smiled instead of showing disapproval. “I’ve always told you to move to the front of the classroom. The students seating at the back all disregard their studies and your results might get affected. See? This month you didn’t do as well as the last. Work harder and do better next time, okay?”

Old Fang, like all other form teachers, liked serving chicken soup for the soul to encourage people, although his words did not have their intended impact on his students. In the hearts of teenagers, their little moods, the rainy weather, their deskmate’s gossip…... Everything mattered more than studying.

Old Fang picked up the class list and seating plan asking, “Is Luo Qingqing also in your dorm?”

Luo QingQing and Luo Zhengli shared the same bunk bed and always hung out together. She was You Yu’s deskmate.

“Luo Qingqing also told me she wanted to switch seats; she doesn’t want to be deskmates with You Yu.” Old Fang sighed and asked, “Can you sit next to You Yu?”

It seemed that he also knew that You Yu didn’t get along with the other girls.

Chi Tang agreed. To her, as long as she could get rid of that Wang JiaoYang, sitting closer to the front was not unacceptable.

Coincidentally it was Old Fang’s Chinese lesson after their brief conversation. They headed back together. Chi Tang moved to the third row and became You Yu’s deskmate while her original seat was occupied by another boy. Luo Zhengli’s deskmate moved back one seat and Luo Qingqing was her new deskmate.

The one who was the least happy with the new arrangement was no other than Wang JiaoYang. When she carried her table away, he rocked his chair and complained. “What do you mean by this? Why did you move to the front?”

Chi Tang had no intention of being polite. “Because you are annoying.”

Perhaps that had hurt his “man’s pride”. Wang JiaoYang felt that he had lost face and turned away to speak to someone else.

Chi Tang did not care. She slid her desk into the void besides You Yu.
