It wasn't until the clock softly chimed at midnight did Dark abruptly come back to his senses.
He looked at the increase in [Greed] and felt rather pleased with the thirst for knowledge he had developed over the past six months.
In the process of reviewing the old and learning the new, he found that he had taken another big step forward in his comprehension of the crafting method of [Zoo].
"Perhaps, before the end of this semester, I'll be able to learn how to craft [Zoo] with my own strength!"
The luscious fruit that could only be picked after a hard work would always be sweeter than a low-hanging fruit.
After letting out a deep sigh, Dark looked up at the clock on the wall and realized that the date had changed from the 13th to the 14th.
So according to the plan, he picked up three of the five wine-filled chocolates from the table and prepared to put them in front of the three girls' doors under the cover of the late hour.
He did this not only to imitate Dianna and Eudora, but also to avoid the embarrassment of giving the reciprocal chocolates in the classroom.
After all, his reciprocal gift was just a "return gift" and didn't have any other meaning.
But just when he took the chocolates and opened the door by a crack, he actually heard voices in the corridor late at night.
"It can't be, right?"
Silently craning his neck to take a look, Dark found that there were shockingly a lot of people who had the same idea as him...
"Forget it, let's do it in the daytime."
"Am I that kind of person who moves sneakily?"
"Of course not!"
As Dark adjusted his collar and prepared to change into his pajamas, he glared at the peeking magical spirits.
Only after the magical spirits returned to their beds did he wash up and go to bed, sleeping with his clothes on.
Three o'clock at dawn.
Dark quietly opened his eyes, carefully pulled out his arm from under Sylveon's belly, and slowly slipped out of bed.
Of course, he wasn't going to deliver those three wine-filled chocolates to the three girls' doors again, but to secretly place the ten portions of milk chocolate for the magical spirits on their bedside.
The reciprocal gift of chocolate on White Day should've been a surprise, but since he made the chocolate together with the magical spirits, it had robbed them of that surprise.
Secretly placing chocolates on their bedside at three o'clock at dawn was just to make up for it a little.
He only hoped that this could make them feel a little happier when they woke up.
After doing this series of tasks, Dark snuck back into bed.
On the bed he had left for a short while, the warmth was still lingering.
Dark snuggled inside and couldn't help but sigh:
"Why does this White Day feel just like Christmas..."
……
There was nothing exceptional about the morning of March 14th.
The sun still rose as usual, and the spring breeze was still as cold.
The cold wind that blew past upon getting out of bed would make one even more reluctant to leave their bed.
After waking up and taking a couple of blinks, Dark suddenly noticed that Sylveon and Gatomon were no longer by his side.
He sat up with some doubts and looked sideways at the row of small beds lined up against the wall.
The quilts on Sylveon and Gatomon's beds were bulging. At some point in time, the two magical spirits had gotten back to their beds.
When Dark made a noise as he was getting up, the magical spirits opened their eyes one after another.
Pairs of hazy, sleepy eyes, soft whines as though just waking up from slumber, and the synchronous rustling of quilts being lifted.
And then, just a few seconds later, the magical spirits each let out a cry of surprise upon seeing the chocolate next to the bed!
In an instant, there were meows, moos, mon-mons, shuckles...
These chaotic and unified cries filled up the entire bedroom.
……
Dark watched this poorly acted scene with a blank face.
Then he got out of bed, washed up, changed clothes, packed his books, fastened on his card pouch, took the chocolates, and walked out of the door.
In a rare occurrence, he didn't have breakfast in the dormitory.
Meowth and Leomon, who he had overlooked, squatted in their magic cards and looked up into the distance.
Click.
When the door lock clicked, the dormitory instantly turned quiet.
It was so quiet that one could even clearly hear a pin drop.
The magical spirits looked at each other with confusion and worry written in their eyes.
After a long while, DemiDevimon muttered, "Did we mess up?"
……
Outside the door, Dark didn't go far after he went out. Instead, he stopped at the doorway and touched the corners of his eyes.
His fingertips were a little moist.
It should be because he didn’t wipe it dry when he went out.
The corners of his eyes were a little red.
It should be because he got up at three in the morning.
"Misdreavus~"
Dark pushed back Misdreavus who had poked half of its head out the door and strode towards the stairs.
It was rare for him to go to the cafeteria in the morning. How could he live up to himself if he didn't increase some [Gluttony]?
……
The moment they saw him coming, the halfling chefs were all surprised.
He greeted the chefs and went to the counter to order a steak, a fried egg, two slices of bread, a glass of milk and two sausages.
When the halfling aunt with a slightly chubby face handed him the plate full of food, she gestured to him: "Wait a moment."
With a hint of doubt, Dark put back down the foot he had already raised.
Not long after, the halfling aunt took out a copy of 《Daily Sage》, rolled it up, and placed it beside his plate.
After being stunned for a while, Dark quickly said, "Thank you, Auntie!"
"Don't mention it." The halfling aunt gave him a kind smile, "Happy White Day."
……
Dark found a seat in the corner of the cafeteria and sat down. He spread the 《Daily Sage》 on one side of the table and habitually read it while eating.
This was actually against etiquette.
But what did that matter?
One day, when more people did this, it would become part of etiquette.
As expected, the headline spread of this issue of 《Daily Sage》 was occupied by White Day.
A craze for divination seemed to have arisen in the kingdom due to it.
In order to know in advance whether or not their confession was accepted, before the day came, men and women would look everywhere for fortune-tellers to do a divination for them.
The profiteers who came after the smell of money would put on black cloaks, carry crystal balls, and turn into fortune-tellers, collecting enormous fees and telling fortunes that would make their customers happy.
This kind of craze happened once a year.
And each year, when White Day arrived, all the fortune-tellers who had suddenly popped up would disappear without a trace.
But people still fell for the same trick every year.
There were no profound topics in this issue of 《Daily Sage》. Most of them were groundless gossip.
It was occasionally interspersed with some interesting anecdotes about nobles and celebrities, drawing out a few laughs.
But when Dark was halfway through eating his steak, he suddenly saw an article in an inconspicuous spot in the corner of the newspaper that looked fake at first glance.
"Rumor has it that the eldest prince Charles, in the name of eldest princess Eliza's older brother, may be actively planning a… blind date for her? Pfft!"
Dark nearly spurted out the milk in his mouth.
"Just how idle is Charles... But come to think of it, this is actually a clever way to break the deadlock!"
"Do you think so as well?"
A strong fragrance suddenly assaulted his nose.
With a slight turn of his head, Dark saw Professor Medea Bartholomew, who always wore the same set of clothes, holding up a plate and sitting down in the empty seat next to him.
Dark had to fold up the newspaper to make room for her.
"Good morning, professor."
"Good morning."
