Chapter 118: The Bio-Soldier Company
Tang Fang's thoughts drifted back to the present as he gazed at the Protoss base. Underneath the Pylon, clusters of Stalkers, Sentries, and Dragoons were gathering to replenish their energy. He couldn’t help but let out a deep sigh.
There was no denying the sheer power of the Protoss units. Faced with weapons that operated on particle-level or anti-matter technology, ordinary human arms were like toothpicks compared to an elephant’s leg. But—and this was a big "but"—in the previous battle, something had gone awry. Toward the end of the engagement, one of the Stalkers had sent him a feedback message: “Void energy depleted. Recharge required.” Then came the Dragoons, followed by the Sentries. By the time the last armed helicopter crashed into the water, three Stalkers, two Dragoons, and four Sentries had lost their ability to attack.
After the battle, Tang Fang recalled the Protoss units into his storage space. Those who had been incapacitated automatically gathered near the Pylon. As its crystalline surface pulsed faintly, soft halos of light began to emanate from the energy crystals embedded in their bodies.
Seeing this unfold, Tang Fang fell into deep contemplation. According to game lore, the Pylon created a void energy field essential for warping Protoss structures into existence. But now it seemed clear that the Pylon also served another purpose—recharging Protoss units.
It made perfect sense upon reflection. The Pylon radiated void energy, sustaining the needs of the Protoss warriors. On Planet Krotan, however, there wasn’t a single Pylon in sight. Whether it was the Stalker’s particle disruptors, the Dragoon’s phase-splitting shells, or the Sentry’s disintegration beams, all consumed vast amounts of energy. Without timely replenishment, losing combat capability was inevitable. As for why Zealots could maintain prolonged fighting stamina, that was easy to understand; psionic blades were melee weapons, far less energy-intensive than ranged weaponry like the Stalkers'.
Thus, while the Protoss units boasted immense offensive power, they suffered from poor endurance. In his current situation, unable to summon Protoss buildings into reality, their best role was as a final trump card—a devastating surprise strike force. While human and Zerg forces engaged the enemy in attrition warfare, these elite Protoss warriors would swoop in like divine intervention, delivering a lethal blow when it mattered most.
"Hmm? The Sea Falcon Commandos are retreating?" Just as Tang Fang was pondering how best to deploy the Protoss units, a report came in from the Terran forces led by Arroz and Housen, who were attacking the Makanda defense line.
Without naval support to provide long-range firepower, even the finest commandos couldn’t hold their ground against Reapers, Marauders, Marines, and the armored vehicles of the Northern Sunaru Alliance. Retreat was their only option.
"Heh, running away? Not so fast," Tang Fang muttered coldly. Summoning eight Zealots and four Zerglings, he transmitted coordinates to them before sending them off. Meanwhile, he directed his Overseer toward the northern shore.
Long before the deep-sea sniper battle began, he’d used the Overseer’s sonar sensors to detect extensive drainage pipes beneath the southern waters near the Makanda armory. These pipelines likely connected to the factory’s water recycling system. It was through these conduits that the Sea Falcon Commandos had managed to evade radar detection from both air and land, launching a surprise assault that trapped Montgomery and his command staff within the heart of the facility.
Indeed, the Northern Sunaru Alliance was essentially a ragtag coalition of soldiers, farmers, miners, and other working-class individuals. Even under the leadership of seasoned military minds like Montgomery and Stivie, defensive oversights were bound to occur. The armory complex was a sprawling industrial hub, encompassing everything from steel smelting to assembly. With such intricate terrain, the alliance had focused their reconnaissance efforts on land, sky, and nearby seas—but completely neglected underwater surveillance. This oversight allowed the Sea Falcon Commandos to infiltrate via the drainage pipes and successfully corner Montgomery’s team.
"Heh heh, I wonder how those Sea Falcon operatives will feel when they’re ambushed inside the very pipes they used to sneak up on the Northern Sunaru Alliance," Tang Fang mused, watching the shadows of the Zealots and Zerglings disappear into the dark mouths of the drainage conduits. He dismissed the Overseer and began walking toward the beach.
---
About ten minutes later, massive waves churned violently across the sea’s surface. One by one, hulking figures emerged from the depths, water cascading off their smooth armor plating like raindrops splashing onto the ocean.
The sky had grown fully overcast, but through gaps in the clouds, stars twinkled faintly, painting a vast celestial map across the night sky.
Tang Fang lowered his visor and took a deep breath of fresh air, exhaling slowly to expel the stale air from his lungs. Behind him stood a formidable company of Marines clad in powered armor, each gripping C-14 Impaler rifles. There were a hundred of them.
As he walked from the seabed onto the sandy shore, clarity washed over him. In times of chaos, no one could remain unscathed. To survive—to truly live—one must be prepared to fight tooth and nail against people, against nature, against any obstacle that dared stand in the way.
The 408th Division? The 508th Division? If they showed up, he wouldn’t hesitate to devour them whole, leaving not even a bone behind.
Back at the interface screen, within the Terran base, SCV had already constructed ten supply depots, raising the supply cap to 162. This time, Tang Fang didn’t skimp. He mass-produced a hundred Marines in one go. Including the troops led by Arroz and Housen, he now commanded 112 Marines, 12 Marauders, and 12 Reapers. His total Supply Count surged to 149—the highest among all three factions.
An entire company of bio-soldiers stood ready. The Marines formed the primary striking force, supported by the heavy firepower of the Marauders and tactical maneuvers executed by the nimble Reapers. Against such a force, even a mechanized battalion reinforced to a thousand men would meet nothing but bitter defeat. And with 30,195 minerals still in reserve, capable of producing nearly 600 Marines equipped with advanced gear and stimpacks, wiping out a full-scale armored division of ten thousand wouldn’t pose much of a challenge.
In the distance, the towering walls of the Makanda Armory loomed into view. At several collapsed sections of the wall, a patrol of twenty-four guards moved back and forth, vigilant eyes scanning for any sign of stragglers. The battle between the Northern Sunaru Alliance and the Sea Falcon Commandos was nearing its conclusion. Sent by Stivie, these guards kept watch outside the armory to ensure no enemies slipped through unnoticed.
Tang Fang led the way, flanked by a hundred Marines whose powered suits illuminated the path ahead. Their helmet lights cast flickering shadows on the walls, creating an eerie dance of light and darkness. The twenty-four sentries stared uneasily at the approaching formation, moving with mechanical precision reminiscent of a ceremonial guard. A chill ran down their spines, and some instinctively raised their rifles.
