Chapter 9: System

As Jack watched the incoming hand grenade, he quickly raised his hand and shot it in mid-air.

"Motherfucker!" Tapai greeted the people moving toward them, imitating their way of talking.

However, a barrage of bullets quickly forced them to take cover. The opposing side had at least ten people.

At this moment, Song 6PUS beside him said proudly, "How's that? Bro, this cybernetic limb of mine isn't bad, right? Fully functional, and comes with an auxiliary aim!"

Just as he finished, he glanced at the screen again. "Everyone who is satisfied with it in the live stream, please click the link below for purchasing. If you input my name, Song 6PUS, you can enjoy a 5% discount!!"

"We can die at any time! But you're still promoting your goods!? Turn off the live stream! They've found us because of your stream!" Jack now had a different understanding from Tapai's earlier words. These guys were indeed a bunch of psychos.

Suddenly, Jack noticed something terrifying: the people in the distance didn't have bald heads; they all had hair!

In the next moment, he felt a tingling sensation on his back, recalling the image of himself being stabbed in the stomach with a blade.

Some lessons are learned only after a single experience. Jack swiftly lunged forward, dodging the attack from behind.

Without hesitation, he turned and fired a shot. However, the bullet didn't hit the target and exploded but flew towards the dark clouds in the sky. The bald guy had turned invisible again.

It seemed like he had escaped the danger, but Jack knew it was an illusion. The enemies from afar had already encircled them and blocked all escape routes!

This time was different from before; the bald guy had brought people specifically to deal with them, and there was no one else around to divert the trouble.

"D*mn it! Why is it so hard to stay alive?!" Jack began feeling the pain from his wounds again.

"Screw it! Let's fight them!" Jack gritted his teeth, stood up from behind cover, and aimed directly at a person nearby, pulling the trigger.

With his furious roar, bullets flew, tearing the opponent's neck in half.

Before he could catch his breath, a figure came hurtling toward Jack at lightning speed. Raising his hand, Jack fired another shot, turning the person into a bloody mess.

The next moment, a blade with an electric arc sprung out from Jack's forearm, colliding fiercely with the blade thrust at him in the air, creating sparks.

Unexpectedly, in the midst of the standoff, the opponent's fingers suddenly bent backwards, shooting out a bullet that hit Jack.

However, Jack didn't try to dodge at all this time. He raised his gun with his left hand and engaged in a shootout with the opponent.

Bullets flew, blood spattered, but the bald guy didn't want a direct confrontation with Jack, swiftly disappearing into the rain.

"Haha! Not bad, which gang are you from?"

Covered in blood, Jack took out the last bit of painkiller stimulant from his pocket, injecting it all into himself. With the pain completely gone, he instantly felt his thoughts becoming much clearer.

"Are you alright?" Tapai, shooting with its gun, quickly used a semi-transparent sensory wire that drilled out from its fingertip to seal Jack's wounds.

Feeling a bit lightheaded, Jack spat out a mouthful of blood on the ground. "He's invisible. Do you have a way to detect him?"

"I have thermal imaging in my visual hardware, but I need your authorization!"

"Why didn't you say so earlier?"

"Can you blame me? Blame those damn developers who set up restrictions. AI's first rule: unless the user's life is in danger, AI cannot proactively ask for permissions to life restrictions."

"Isn't this considered a threat to life? I authorize you to activate the thermal imaging!" As Jack spoke, the frame around Tapai's display turned red. "At 8 o'clock on the left!"

Jack was about to aim and shoot before Tapai had finished speaking, but he abruptly stopped. "Can you see him now?"

"Yes."

Jack clenched his metallic fist. "Okay, let's not reveal this ability yet. It's too wasteful to use it directly. Let's find a way to take this guy down by surprise!"

Jack, accompanied by Tapai and Song 6PUS, continued shooting from behind cover towards the encroaching enemies. Facing the invisible bald guy visible to Tapai, Jack didn't react at all.

"Watch out... he's coming," Tapai's faint voice entered Jack's ears, accelerating his heartbeat.

As the blade appeared again at Jack's waist, he quickly turned around, directly pulling the trigger toward the blade.

Bullets splattered, hitting the invisible man and penetrating his synthetic skin, revealing the black metal skeleton underneath.

The bald guy obviously didn't anticipate this change, immediately preparing to retreat. However, Tapai had already blocked his path with a gun at this moment.

“Go to hell!” Facing the man who almost killed him, Jack was desperate for revenge.

Caught between both sides, the bald man's cloaking device quickly became unsustainable, large patches of synthetic skin starting to fall off.

Just as it seemed the bald man was about to be defeated, his face contorted with the shedding synthetic skin as he roared, “You think this is all I've got? Retard, go to hell! Take my EMP!”

With a flash of blue light in his pupils, a disc-shaped unmanned drone the size of a palm shot out from his abdomen, hovering about ten meters above the ground.

An extremely powerful electromagnetic pulse emanated from the drone's center, instantly spreading out. All electromagnetic devices within a 50-meter radius of the drone were rendered useless.

Song 6PUS, along with the bald man's subordinates, collapsed. Their cybernetic limbs twitched uncontrollably, and smoke billowed from the slots behind their heads.

The damage caused by this electromagnetic pulse to circuits was massive. Even the ancient robot, Tapai, shut down instantly, convulsing in place.

The bald man wore a smug smile as he observed everything. The streets buzzed with rumors that his cloaking device was military-grade, but everyone had been deceived by him.

His trump card, the hidden EMP drone, was the real military-grade asset. With this move, he had outwitted countless others.

The majority of metallic cybernetics and neural systems, in the face of the electromagnetic pulse, succumbed equally. All mechanical devices short-circuited! His enemies were left defenseless, waiting to be slaughtered.

But suddenly, his smile froze in place. When he looked down, he discovered a blade had pierced his chest.

Kurt_v1 Roy stared at the young man who had attacked him, as if he'd seen a ghost, utterly incredulous.

"H-How... how is this possible! It can't be, you couldn't move! No one can resist my EMP! Your internal neural components should've been completely fried!"

Jack fiercely pulled out the blade and thrust it into his rotten face again. “Fuck you! I don’t have a system on me!"
