Chapter 6 Part 1

Translator: Rya

Chu Xiaoxiao didn't want to see Chu Xiaoyi again, so she simply took advantage of the last bit of daylight and ran to the small courtyard to get some air. Grandaunt who was taking care of grandma in the house saw the little girl in the yard through the window and reminded: "Xiao Xiao, don't go out now."

There was a small courtyard at home, with an iron door. Chu Xiaoxiao always ran out from this door to play, and never liked to use the front door.

Chu Xiaoxiao replied, "I'll be in the courtyard."

Grandaunt relaxed after hearing her promise and drew the curtains slowly. Chu Xiaoxiao got bored after bounced a few times before looking over the iron fence, killing her time with outdoor scenery.

It's the Spring Festival now, and most of the residents in the community go home for the New Year. In addition, the green area of the community is already large yet there are no people in sight. Chu Xiaoxiao could still see pedestrians walking the dog before, but now she found that the surrounding area was deserted, with only the warm yellow streetlights gradually turning on.

After a while, Chu Xiaoxiao finally saw the first passerby who walked his pet. But he was not walking a dog, instead, a cat.

A handsome little boy of six or seven years old wearing a black down jacket, wrapped with a white scarf, standing under a tree with a black cat. The black cat was led by the little owner with a tow rope. It was also wrapped in small dark clothes. The black fur that was exposed was pure bright and shiny, but the paws were snow-white as if wearing white gloves.

I imagined how the cat would be like. Of course without its clothes

Chu Xiaoxiao saw someone walking a cat for the first time, and she couldn't help but stare at the little boy. Suddenly, he turned his head, as if he could feel her gaze, and stared straight back.

The two children stared at each other for a long time through the iron fence, as if they were aimlessly dazed and cautiously testing. Neither of them saying anything.

The black cat squatted on the ground and washed its face with its paws. It was the calmest in the silence and glanced around casually.

Chu Xiaoxiao observed the little boy for a long time, and she couldn't help being quite novel when she saw the golden mood of the other person. In her cognition, warm colors represent that the other person is in a good mood and has a higher degree of friendliness towards her. But they hadn't even spoken to each other yet he was willing to release his goodwill, which surprised Chu Xiaoxiao a little.

Chu Xiaoxiao was sure that he was not a bad person, so she broke the silence first, and asked, "Why are you looking at me?"

The little boy tilted his head and replied, "Because you are looking at me."

The two of them had successfully established communication. The little boy led the black cat to the iron fence and approached Chu Xiaoxiao in the yard. The black cat was quite cooperative, it appeared to be a large adult cat with smooth body lines and a deft, light pace. It walked quite steadily beside the boy.

Little boy: "I've seen you before, you were feeding the cat with other people."

Chu Xiaoxiao suddenly realized that she and Sister Yang Yin sometimes make cats food together and ran to feed the stray cats in the community. They also built cat litters out of old fabrics and hid them in the corners to allow wild cats to spend the winter.

Chu Xiaoxiao looked at the black cat on the ground and asked curiously: "Can cats also walk?"

“Yes, but it has to be bathed and de-wormed and fitted with a leash." The little boy thought carefully and added, "Some cats are afraid to go out, so they can't be walked."

The black cat seemed to has caught the keyword "bath", it immediately made a small unpleasant sound and turned its head to the side. The language of cats is not only meowing but also purring, even sounds that humans cannot hear.

Chu Xiaoxiao stared at the black cat for a long time and said, "It doesn't seem to like wearing clothes?"

The little boy: "It doesn't matter whether it likes it or not. I also don't like wearing a down jacket, but my father had to let me wear it."

The black cat made another small sound, as if it was spitting at its young master, nothing more than "I have hair and you don't, it's just inexplicable" and so on. It was forced to wear clothes, could not even lick his body. Obviously, it had a deep resentment.

Seeing that Chu Xiaoxiao had been watching the cat, he simply moved closer to the iron fence and suggested: "You can touch it."

Chu Xiaoxiao stretched her hand over the fence, but she still couldn't touch the black cat close at hand. The black cat seemed to be aware of her current situation. It slowly walked forward two steps, lowered its head gentlemanly and let her touch it, and then retreated to the boy's feet.

Chu Xiaoxiao looked at it in amazement. She found that the black cat was quite elegant and reserved, completely different from the stray cats in the community. She used to feed the cat with Sister Yang Yin, and every time she could only hear the meaning of "eat" or "so hungry", followed by the sound of chewing.

Little boy: "It's Liszt, and my name is Liang Shuangqi."

The black cat even had a very artistic name, and it even had the same name as the romantic pianist Franz Liszt.

"My name is Chu Xiaoxiao." Before Chu Xiaoxiao could turn on her music skills, she couldn't help showing a puzzled look, and asked, "Why is it not called Liang Site, but has to be surnamed Li?"

Liang Shuangqi blinked as he covered his mouth in thought for a moment, then responded, "It makes sense."

Liang Shuangqi: "From then on, let’s call it Liang Site."

    Chu Xiaoxiao: "Hello, Liang Site."

    Black Cat:???

  1. Rather than Liang Site, it would have been nice for it to be romanized as Liangszt as a reference to its namesake. That's just me though.
