Chapter 24 He is Staying (Part 3/3)

With the weather getting warmer, there was no longer a need to remain indoors always. As the springtime colours washed over the Capital, the victorious cry of battle resounded from the Northern Borders army. The Tamar tribe had lost and retreated, vowing to never cause trouble ever again. Hanguan City returned to its previous peace, lifting the worries off Emperor Yanxi's shoulders. He ordered the leading general to settle the defence at the city before returning with the troops.

As the news arrived, Ling Qiyang was crafting a set of medicinal herbs in the pharmacy. These were raw ingredients for preparing Anti-Parasite medicinal pills. Although his newly developed prescription had the same potency as the previous, it was crafted with the consideration for daily use. With the addition of more herbs and flowers, the pills were adapted into an anti-parasite fragrance sachet.

While the potency of the pills was not affected, the stability of the medicine was compromised. For the power to be maintained, the drugs had to be changed every 2 months.

As Ling Qiyang worked, Jun Lixuan sat on the chair and vetted through documents. He suddenly put down his records and turned over to Ling Qiyang. He seemed to have a sudden recollection, asking, "By the way, when the morning assembly ended this morning, Third Brother asked me. When will Mo Qingge's hands fully recuperate?"

Ling Qiyang shifted his focus from the prescription to his husband and said with a smile, "In fact, he has recovered. However, another 2 weeks of recovery will do him good. Just as they were about to get passionate, the shadow guard came with news. He reported that the Fifth Prince had arrived at His Royal Highness Yi's Manor to discuss mitigating and handling the annual spring floods.

Emperor Yanxi handed this task to Jun Liyuan. For the Fifth Prince to visit for a discussion regarding this matter was perplexing. If he genuinely had good ideas for the issue, it would be more logical to directly propose it to Emperor Yanxi. However, Jun Liyuan did not request for his assistance. Hence, Jun Lixuan did not act rashly and just watched the changes from the sideline.

Fifth Prince dragged the discussion all the way till dinnertime before leaving. Both on the ground and by the sidelines, everyone was befuddled.

Three days later, Jun Chengxi wrote a note to Emperor Yanxi. He reported that His Royal Highness Yi, Jun Liyuan, took in a zither performer from Tranquillity Pavillion into his manor. Ever since they met, he indulged in voluptuous music daily. He claimed that Jun Liyuan did not handle the flood issue responsibly and failed to meet the Emperor's expectations. Moreover, the excessive companionship of Mo Qingge tarnished his status as His Royal Highness and decried the imperial reputation. In light of these misdeeds, he called for the Emperor's judgement.

Emperor Yanxi looked at the document and scanned through it several times. He sighed and said to his attendant, "Let Yuan'er see me at Serene Palace tomorrow after the morning assembly."

"Yes." The attendant took the order and retreated.
