Chapter 21 Filial Piety (Part 1/3)

Although the mass grave was blazed to cinders, Ling Qiyang still rushed to produce a batch of medicines that could kill the parasites. This was to further prevent any soldier from contracting the parasite through other means. Alas, when it came to parasites, Ling Qiyang knew the theory, but never had any experience in making the medicine.

His intense focus was broken by several knocks on the door of the pharmacy. Jun Lixuan walked in, " Did you prepare the prescription?"

Ling Qiyang shook his head and said, "I'm going back to Count Wangyang Mansion."

"What?" Jun Lixuan looked at Ling Qiyang in shock. Even if he could not prepare the prescription, there was no need run away from home and return to his maternal family.

"Master left some notes with Father. There are many records about parasites on them. Parasites are rare in Ye Empire, and the southern side has always been stable. Hence, I never expected to meet parasites and did not read these notes thoroughly." When he got married, he thought about bringing it along for safekeeping. However, the notes had he had packed already filled with a box to its brim. At that time, Ling Qiyang intended to keep his medical skills a secret. Hence, it was not too convenient to bring any more notes and he left the remaining with his Father.

"Your Master is truly brilliant." Jun Lixuan nodded.

"Well, in the end, it's my incompetence as his apprentice that is at fault." In addition to knowing the pathology, a doctor also needed to practice. Some things had to be executed in practice instead of plain theoretical talk.

"You are still young! It's pretty good to have this kind of achievements at this age." Jun Lixuan did not have any further request of Ling Qiyang. As long as he stays by his side, his medical skills were just a trivial matter.

"A human must be motivated." Ling Qiyang threw a glance at him.

Jun Lixuan chuckled, "Okay. It's still early now but I don't think you should go to Count Wangyang Mansion personally. If you go over, they have to be prepared to receive you. After all, your identity is different. Why don't you let Ming Li invite your Father to come over? He can bring the books along."

Ling Qiyang was quite surprised by Jun Lixuan's proposal. While it was not prohibited to invite the Father-in-law to come over as a guest, this practice was rare even amongst the more liberal households. He asked again, reconfirming what he had just heard, "Are you sure? This doesn't sound too appropriate."

Jun Lixuan smiled and said, "There is nothing wrong with that. In His Royal Highness Ling Manor except me, only you have the final say. You agree and I agree. Then, we’re set!"

Ling Qiyang nodded. In fact, he also wanted to let his Father come over for a visit. If he took a look at his current life, maybe Father would be more at ease.

"Then I tell someone to do it. Don't think about it, take a break with a cup of ginseng tea."

"Alright."

Having received the Prince's instructions, Ming Li got it done personally at light speed. Within an hour, he brought Ling Qiyang's handwritten letter and His Royal Highness Ling Manor's entry permit to invite Ling Qiyang's Father. When they returned, the two attendants who followed were carrying a large wooden box.

"Your Highness." Ling Qiyang's Father knelt down and greeted Jun Lixuan as per rules.

"Father, you do not need to follow the rules." Jun Lixuan gave reached out his hand to help Concubine Yue up.

Hearing the movements, Ling Qiyang rushed over from the pharmacy. Seeing his Father, he walked over quickly, "Father."

Ling Qiyang's Father sized up his son and found that he was fine. Instantly, he felt relieved.

"Let's talk inside." Jun Lixuan gestured his hand and invited them in.

Ling Qiyang held Ling Qiyang's Father, "It is warm inside."

Ling Qiyang's Father pushed Ling Qiyang's hand away, and reprimanded, "What are you doing?" He understood that Ling Qiyang missed him, and he was glad that his son was much more cheerful than he was in Count Wangyang Mansion. He was even a little unscrupulous. Just who's fault was it? Ling Qiyang's Father was crystal clear. He threw a glance at Jun Lixuan and sighed.
