Jun
Lixuan’s eyelids twitched as consciousness gradually slipped back.
He
opened his eyes and looked around. A streak of dazzling light shone directly at
him through the windows, causing him to squint. Instinctively, he wanted to
raise his hand to shield his eyes, but a sharp pain from the wound on his
shoulder inhibited his movements.
What is going on?
From
the pain in the shoulder and the aches in his muscles, Jun Lixuan knew that
something was amiss. He was dead. How could he feel pain? While he got injured
on the day of coup and arrest, it was on his abdomen. Also, Ling Qiyang had secretly
brought him wound treatment medicine. While it did not wholly recover, the scab
had fallen off and only hurt slightly on contact.
With
his right hand, he gently patted his abdomen. Through his clothes, Jun Lixuan
could not find the wound. The only pain he felt was on his left shoulder.
The
door was gently pushed open from the outside, and Jun Lixuan’s personal
attendant Ming Li walked in with the freshly brewed medicine. Seeing Jun Lixuan
who had awoken, he exclaimed in surprise, “Your Highness, you are awake. Your
Highness has woken up!”
Immediately,
chaos ensued. Imperial Doctors were called in, messages were sent to the
Emperor and Empress. His Royal Highness Yi and the Sixth Prince were also notified.
Suddenly, the entire household was bustling with activity.
As Jun
Lixuan watched Ming Li, the pain continued throbbing in his head. When he held
the coup, Ming Li died in the hands of the guards sent by the Fourth Prince to
assassinate him. Somehow, he was standing in front of him alive, still laughing
and lively.
“Your
Highness, what’s wrong? Are you feeling a lot of discomforts? The Imperial
Doctor will be here soon.” Seeing that his Master’s grimacing expression, Ming
Li thought that Jun Lixuan’s wound was hurting too much.
“It’s
okay, you don’t need to call a doctor.” Jun Lixuan consoled Ming Li and asked, “What's
the date today?"
Ming Li
quickly replied, "Your Highness, it is already the seventh day of
November. You developed a high fever after you returned from the Capital. Most
likely, your busy schedule took a toll on your body. You have been asleep for
three days. The Emperor was anxious that you were alone in the manor, so he
brought you into the palace. The Emperor was overjoyed that you subdued the south-eastern
chaos, and would like to reward you again when you woke up."
Jun
Lixuan frowned. He fought the Southeastern War when he was twenty. But he did
not remember getting injured in battle.
"Also,
His Royal Highness Yi visited you this morning. Her Majesty and the Sixth
Prince are also exceedingly worried. Now that you woke up let me report your
condition to them immediately." Ming Li smiled and spoke. Ming Li
supported Jun Lixuan as he sat up and used another pillow to be his backrest.
"Empress
Mother?" Jun Lixuan was stunned. His Empress Mother should have passed
away this summer, how could it be...
"Your
Highness, forgive me for saying this. Although you are not close to Her
Majesty, Her Majesty really cares for you. When you returned with an injury,
she cried till her eyes were swollen." Ming Li handed the warm medicine to
Jun Lixuan with both hands respectfully.
After
taking medicine, Jun Lixuan was completely awake. His rebirth had finally
dawned upon him. He had reincarnated back to the age of twenty. Although things
were a little different from the previous life, this was a chance to make up
for his regrets. Compared to the current
soberness, his previous tragic life seemed like a fleeting dream. He betrayed
his Emperor Father and misjudged his brothers. He distanced himself from his
Empress Mother and even let down Ling Qiyang. Yet, till the end, they never
gave up on him ...
Every
of Ling Qiyang's last moments, right down to his movements and expressions,
were deeply engraved in his memory. Ling Qiyang's tears were the eternal
regrets burned on his heart. He could never forget and did not want to forget
them...Those were not dreams. He experienced the tragedy, and they were part of
his life. Now, the Heavens gave him a chance to come back. He had no reason to
repeat the same mistakes.
