Wasteland Employment Guide C1

Chapter 1 Earth Became wasteland again!

Many people had the habit of Foot-Tapping when they were idle.

Old Han was an expert in the Foot-Tapping world. As long as he sat down, his foot would begin to tap quickly and rhythmically, giving people a feeling that he was sending telegraph using his feet; hence he was nicknamed "Foot-Tapping Han". Together with "Bloody Duck Gao", the person who sold roast duck, they were called "Two Elderly Evil Spirits"; no one dared to mess with them on this street.

In fact, he was not old; it was just that the way he looked would make people think differently; looking like fifty-three, he was actually thirty-five years old. In a messy world like this, this would not be considered a weakness.

Old Han was a person with connections. In New City D067, whether it was buying or selling illegal drugs and weapons, or hiring killers or treasure hunters, he accepted all the businesses that require middlemen to find buyers or sellers.

It was raining lightly today, and only until the evening did he have a customer.

The visitor had a sporty figure, and a large area of his upper body gray sweater was wet by rain.

Taking off the sweater hood, a face in his early twenties and a pair of sharp eyes were revealed before him.

Even though it was the second time they met, Old Han was still frightened by these eyes.

Old Han had seen notorious gangsters and the righteous people who extraordinary strength before; the sharpness in their eyes were polished by life experience, but this young man was born like this.

His name was Wu Chan.

And he took over a waste incineration station. He had entrusted Old Han to help him find employees.

After asking Wu Chan to sit down opposite the desk, Old Han unconsciously lifted his left heel in the air and began to tap his foot: tap, tap, tap, tap...

"Old brother, according to the requirement you set, there are currently no applicants."

The "Eternal Night Poisonous Rain" more than 50 years ago destroyed thousands of years of human civilization. Humans were forced to flee the old city and build numbered new towns in the wilderness The old city was covered by a new ecological system called Miasma Sea, which was made up of corrupt fungi, and gave birth to a new type of monster - Sha. Sha was commonly called zombies by many people. It was not only the number one public enemy of mankind but also the energy source of the new city.

In every new city above Class D, there was an Energy Concentrator built deep in the center of the city, which burned a large number of zombies every day and converted thermal energy into energy to support the operation of the city. The city was surrounded by the towering Night Wall. Except for some special factories, most of the buildings beyond the wall were waste incineration stations. The significance of those stations' existence was to burn a relatively small number of zombies to help the underground energy concentrator, reducing the pressure of productivity, and to act as an outpost.

Similar to the phototaxis of insects, zombies were attracted to heat. The operation of energy concentrators and waste incineration stations would attract zombies, but waste incineration stations that lack the protection of the Night Wall must be self-reliant.

The money-rich waste incineration stations would purchase heavy weapons to create an automated defense system. The waste incineration station with little money would hire high-level super humans for defense.

And based on the recruiting salary that Wu Chan gave out, it was not difficult to see that this young boss was short of money, and he was short of a lot of money. In another word, he was very poor.

"Old Uncle Han, have you ever thought that you might have Parkinson's disease." Wu Chan said politely while looking around with his sharp eyes.

"Don't call me uncle, call me brother." Old Han was very sensitive to being called old, just like dwarfs didn't like people call them short, "Wait, what is Parkinson's disease?"

"It's paralysis agitans." Wu Chan replied.

Old Han: “? ? ?”

"A common neurodegenerative disease in middle-aged and elderly people. People who had it usually wouldn't stop shaking their hands. But brother you are always tapping your foot, I think it might have transferred to your legs." Wu Chan said.

Middle-aged and elderly...

Old Han felt like he had suffered a critical strike, and he tried very hard to restrain his emotions. "Let's focus on the business here...Um, what other benefits can Brother Wu offer?"

"Food and accommodation are provided, and there is a huge chance for promotion. Moreover, friendly co-workers and a harmonious working environment." Wu Chan replied.

"This is the same as the companies that claim to have flat management, but actually, they don't have many workers. So how many employees do you currently have?" Old Han asked.

"One." Wu Chan replied.

"Only two of you in the entire incineration station? It is too few." Old Han said.

"Brother, you have misunderstood it. There is only me at the moment. And I am both the boss and the employee." Wu Chan replied.

"..." Old Han hated that he hastily accepted the commission without finding out the details last time. Probably only weirdos would be willing to work for this kind of boss.

If Old Han directly rejected Wu Chan at this moment, it would only make him appear to be unprofessional. This was something he didn't want. After all, as a middleman, his reputation was everything.

So he changed the conversation: "Brother, do you want to reconsider my last proposal and join the Heavy Armor Bear."

It has just been a week after the Big Corpse Tide, many people died in the new city D067 and many refugees were taken in. Many facilities were waiting to be repaired and restarted. Various resources were urgently needed; especially a large amount of metal was needed to repair the severely damaged Night Wall.

The main way for the new city to obtain resources was to rely on the bold resource recovery team to go deep into the old city covered by the miasma and recover the legacy left by mankind before the disaster. Whether it was scrapped cars or glass and wood, all recyclable resources would be brought back to the new city by them in exchange for generous rewards.

The Heavy Armored Bear was a resource recovery team that had just recently emerged, and it was frantically recruiting new members. Three days ago, the boss of the Heavy Armored Bear had come to visit Old Han in person. He happened to meet Wu Chan and took an immediate liking to his cold and arrogant temperament. He wanted to recruit him to be his subordinate straightaway, but Wu Chan refused on the spot.

Hearing Old Han mentioning it again, Wu Chan did not hesitate: "Forget it."

"They are very generous. And brother, you are most likely running a waste incineration station just to collect Evil Eells." Old Han still tried to persuade him, "As we all know, the Resource Recovery Team can collect Evil Cells more efficiently."

More importantly, the intermediate fee given by the Heavy Armored Bear was several times that of Wu Chan.

"Brother, don't tell me that it is because you want me to join the Heavy Armored Bear so you, so you told me that you couldn't find anyone ." Wu Chan's eyes became a bit serious.

At that moment, Old Han felt his whole body became stiff, like a frog being stared at by a snake, and said guiltily: "Of course not"

"Brother." Wu Chan replied.

"Hmm?" Old Han asked.

"You stopped tapping your foot." Wu Chan replied.

"Probably the Parkinson's disease you mentioned was cured suddenly." Old Han laughed awkwardly, "Didn't you used to be a doctor, brother?"

"I used to be an actor." Wu Chan replied.

"..." Old Han.

"Anyway, please try your best to find someone for me." Wu Chan stood up.

"Definitely." However, Old Han still didn't give up yet and made the final attempt, "Can I find out the real reason why you don't want to join the Heavy Armored Bear?"

Wu Chan put on his sweater hood.

"Our name didn't match well with each other."

"Huh? ? ?”

……

In this new city numbered D067, any street in the city was very narrow. Rather than calling was a street, it was more an alley.

The light rain, which has been raining for a whole day, added fresh moisture to the stuffy streets. But this has never been a good thing. After the rain stopped, the stench of the stagnant water would become worse and worse as time passed.

Wu Chan wanted to hurry out of the city before the closing of the Night Wall, but just a few steps out of Old Han's house, he was blocked by four people in the dark narrow alley. With three people at the front and one person at back; the body width of the one at back was as wide as the three people in front, looking like a bear a lot.

"You are Wu Chan?" One of the three people at the front said.

Wu Chan, with a hood covering his face, said helplessly: "Yes, how can I help."

"We finally found you." The man responded grimly.

These four people were all admirers of the boss, the Heavy Armored Bear. After learning that the guy who dared to refuse the boss' recruitment would come to Old Han today, so they made a special trip here today to look for trouble.

But Wu Chan didn't joke with Old Han, he really used to an actor.

Wu Chan misunderstood these four people as other kinds of people and even felt a little moved.

"I'm sorry that you have to wait, but I stopped signing autographs long ago."

Four people: “? ? ?”

After a few seconds of mysterious silence.

"Screw your fucking autographs! I thought that the person that the boss took a like to would be a great guy, but I didn't expect he was retarded." The man in the middle of the three grinned, the electric arc flashing at his fingertips.

They were super humans.

"Are you guys Heavy Armor Bear's men?" Wu Chan asked,

"Today I will let you understand the consequences of not knowing how to show your respect." There were more and more electric arcs flashing between the men's fingers, "begging me and apologizing now can make you suffer less."

Wu Chan pulled out two white earphones from the collar and put them into his ears. Touching his pocket with his left hand, and pressed the play button of the music player, a rock song blasted in the earphones.

"So, you really didn't come to ask for my autographs?"

Wu Chan's tone revealed a sense of disappointment after recognizing a certain fact. It was like a middle-aged man coming home from work and saying to his family who had already finished dinner early that no one remembered his birthday.

This sense of disappointment was soul-shaking, making the four people suddenly feel a little bit guilty. They almost started to go through their pockets to look for a pen.

Wait a minute!

"Fuck, why am I looking for a pen!"

The super human roared angrily, made a finger gun hand gesture, and shot out an electric bullet that was condensed into the size of a fist; the shocking recoil lifted his arms high in the air.

Pa!

Wu Chan slapped the electric ball with a backhand, and a row of glass windows on the second floor of the roadside was blown up.

'What the hell? !'

The super human who shot the electric ball still had his arm high in the air, and the scary eyes exposed under the brim of the hood opposite him were like nails that have nailed him firmly in place.

"You all can fight me together, I'm in a hurry." Wu Chan turned up the volume of the player, and rock music noise burst out of poor-quality headphones like electric sparks.

After 30 seconds.

It was still raining.

Four guys who hadn't even had time to introduce their names all passed out in the narrow alley. Among them, the only "lucky person" with a pen had two characters signed on his back.
