Driver of The Beautiful CEO Chapter 65: Zhou Ming's Warning

Liu Yanbo was arrested. It wasn’t through a warrant, nor was it for some questioning, but instead, he was actually handcuffed and taken to the police station as a crime suspect.

Was there any evidence?

Of course, there wasn’t. If all the criminal investigation experts in Haishi couldn’t find the slightest piece of evidence, how could someone like Zhou Ming, who only cared about flirting during work, be able to find any evidence?

Did having no evidence mean he couldn’t arrest someone?

For common police officers, it was certainly not allowed. But Zhou Ming was not only a Deputy head, but also had an extremely influential father and a filthy rich mother.

From ancient times to the present, how many things in this world couldn't be done through power and money?

Of course, it was impossible to bring up a groundless criminal charge without facing any consequences like they did in the ancient days, but it was still okay to bluff.

When Zhou Ming arrested Liu Yanbo, he wanted to frighten him a bit, pretending to sell lamb when he was actually selling dog meat*.

*An idiom which expresses cunningness and deceit, like a seller who pretends to sell something of value when he actually only has inferior goods.

A murder suspect, this was just an excuse Zhou Ming used to keep out outsiders.

As soon as Liu Yanbo arrived at the police station, Zhou Ming immediately drove the others out of the interrogation room.

Liu Yanbo looked at Zhou Ming in a daze.

He knew that the officer doubted him, but he was absolutely confident that the officer wouldn’t have any actual evidence to sustain his suspicions.

So Liu Yanbo really couldn’t figure out why the unfriendly police officer in front of him arrested him in public without the slightest bit of evidence on the charge of a murder suspect instead of just bringing him back for questioning.

Wasn’t he afraid of being humiliated when the time comes?

Zhou Ming was visibly unconcerned about this matter. He casually crossed his legs, and with a cigarette in his mouth, introduced himself: "My name is Zhou Ming. I’m the Xincheng District Bureau’s Deputy head.”

Liu Yanbo tried his best to show the friendliness of a ordinary citizen and politely greeted: "Hello Captain Zhou."

Zhou Ming nodded and asked: “Do you know why you’re here?”

“Didn’t you say I was suspected of murder?” Liu Yanbo puzzledly asked: "Captain Zhou, are there other reasons?"

"Our police do suspect that you are related to a murder case, but that’s not my responsibility." Zhou Ming stubbed out his cigarette, got up and walked over to Liu Yanbo's side. "Let's not beat around the bush. Be honest, what’s your relationship with our detachment commander, Pan Yuyi?"

From Zhou Ming’s point of view, Jiu Ye and his gang were all people who deserved to die anyway, so whoever killed him has nothing to do with him.

If it wasn't for Pan Yuyi, he wouldn't even be a police officer.

A murder case?

Ha ha! Zhou Ming was not the kind of a person who liked to take on such a tiring job.

Encountering such a strange policeman, Liu Yanbo didn't know whether to cry or laugh. He hastily replied: "I don’t have any relationship with Captain Pan, I just know her."

Zhou Ming patted Liu Yanbo's shoulder and raised his eyebrows: "Then explain to me... what was this about last night?”. Zhou Ming took out his phone from his pocket, swiped through some photos and then showed one to Liu Yanbo.

The photo was of Liu Yanbo leaving Tianshui Bar with a drunk Pan Yuyi on his back. It was taken from side and the pixels weren't particularly clear, but it was enough for those who knew them well to recognize them at a glance.

When Zhou Ming saw this photo in the morning, he recognized Pan Yuyi instantly and was so angry that he almost threw his phone.

Because of this, Zhou Ming didn't even bother to eat his breakfast, and immediately contacted the disguised agents who had been stalking the bar last night. After learning from them that it was Liu Yanbo, Zhou Ming immediately led a team to YunTong Taxi Company to arrest him.

Liu Yanbo didn't know all of these details, but at last he fully understood Zhou Ming's true intentions.

Women really are troublesome!

Liu Yanbo shook his head and smiled bitterly: "Captain Zhou, this is a misunderstanding. Captain Pan and I just happened to meet in front of Tianshui Bar, and because she was in a bad mood, she forced me to drink with her. Later, Captain Pan got drunk and since I didn't know where her house was, I had to help her find a hotel to stay for the night. So I took her to the BinGui hotel next to the bar."

Liu Yanbo sighed. If his hands hadn't been handcuffed to the chair, he would’ve raised his hand and made an oath. He agitatedly expalined: "Captain Zhou, I REALLY didn't do anything other than carry her into the hotel room. Another woman from Tianshui Bar came with me to help. She was the one who take care of her while I waited in the hotel lobby. If you don't believe me, you can ask the hotel receptionist."

After hearing Liu Yanbo's explanation, Zhou Ming didn’t waste time and directly contacted BinGui Hotel’s owner, asking him if he could ask the front desk attendant who was on duty last night...

After receiving a reply, Zhou Ming hung up the phone with satisfaction and smiled, "It seems you’re quite honest, you didn't lie."

"Captain Zhou praises me too much. Even if I loved lying, I wouldn't dare to lie in front of a Deputy Head!" Liu Yanbo flattered, before pitifully looking at him like a dog asking for food. "Captain Zhou, can I have a cigarette?"

"You sure know how to talk! Keep going and you’ll go places." Zhou Ming wasn't angry, and after handing Liu Yanbo a cigarette, he also undid the handcuffs.

Although Zhou Ming was an extremely irresponsible policeman, he wasn't a domineering jerk. Otherwise, with Pan Yuyi's fierce personality, she wouldn’t have  allowed him in the slightest to follow her around.

Liu Yanbo also borrowed a lighter from Zhou Ming to light the cigarette, and after smoking quite comfortably, he carefully asked: "Captain Zhou, then about me being a suspect of murder..."

Before Liu Yanbo finished speaking, Zhou Ming interrupted: "Didn't I already tell you? I'm not in charge of that case. There’s already a special team responsible for it." Zhou Ming lit a cigarette and narrowed his eyes, "I've arrested you as a warning to stay away from Yuyi in the future, or I’ll press another charge against you like I did today, and all you would be able to do is regret in prison."

Zhou Ming's words were unpleasant to hear, but Liu Yanbo knew that what he said was true.

People could not fight against officials, it was an unchanging truth.

Even without thinking too far in the future, Liu Yanbo was sure that no matter what the outcome was today, it was a certainty that YunTong Taxi Company would fire him. And there wouldn’t be anything he could do about it.

In this world, everything had a price.

With every kind of person you meet, you’ll have to bear the things that the person brings to you. With every path you choose, you’ll have to face all the twists and turns that it comes with.

Liu Yanbo wanted to be an ordinary citizen, but in order to do so, he had to accept the fate of a floating duckweed struggling to survive in the stormy era of money and power.

Fortunately, he had learned to accept this reality, so he didn't blame Zhou Ming because he had chosen this path himself.

Liu Yanbo nodded, his mind already made up. If he encountered Pan Yuyi again in the future, he would avoid her like the plague.
