TDCM Chapter 32

Chapter 32 - Life and Immortality

He entered the water, and warm liquid enveloped him. But Ye Chenyuan didn’t feel the least bit relaxed. Instead, he was even more nervous because, not far away, he could see Yuan Chu in just her undergarments...

What Venerable Li and Yuan Chu both didn’t know was that his vision had always been good. After body tempering, he had nearly awakened his bloodline. Although Yuan Chu had sealed them in time, he still experienced changes in his body. His eyesight could see through more. For example, the heavy fog in front of him, he could see right through it. Only, he had forgotten about it. And if he brought it up now, wouldn’t he be hit?

Yuan Chu swam cheerfully in the water, believing that the heavy fog covered her. Her red and pink undergarments stuck to her body. Her long, black hair and snow-white skin contrasted with each other, and a layer of mist was drizzled over her round cat eyes. There was a satisfied smile on her face. She seemed like a water spirit, alluring and dream-like with an unworldly innocence.

Ye Cheyuan’s eyes kept on wandering over to her. His heart told him a hundred and one times that he shouldn’t, but he couldn’t stop himself.

Suddenly, Yuan Chu dropped into the water and surfaced behind Ye Chenyuan, tapping him on the shoulder.

“Hey! What are you dozing off for? Cultivate!”

Cultivate? If he cultivated right now… wouldn’t he suffer from Qi deviation? Ye Chenyuan looked back at her face, thinking to himself.

Yuan Chu’s face looked even more soft and cute than usual, the steam giving her face a light blush. She laughed, waving her hand in front of Ye Chenyuan’s face. “What are you looking at? Is it possible that you can still see something?”

Alarmed, Ye Chenyuan shook his head. “No… I can’t!”

From his flustered appearance, Yuan Chu guessed that he might be able to see a bit. After all, they were so close, but… was that really that big of a deal? Her body looked like it couldn’t be more than five years old. Ye Chenyuan was eleven and turning twelve soon, but he was still a child.

And even if he could see, he probably couldn’t see under the water, right? Just treat it as two little kids swimming together!

But she didn’t want Ye Chenyuan to feel awkward, so she swam a bit farther. Swimming forwards and backwards, she swam any way she wanted. Whatever it was, it didn’t look like she had come to cultivate.

“Hey…” Venerable Li suddenly interrupted the tranquility. “Your master is only seven. It’s no surprise that she just wants to have fun. But you’re almost twelve. Why aren’t you concentrating on your cultivation? This is such a good opportunity. Why are you still wasting time and not cultivating?!”

His voice shocked Ye Chenyuan out of his thoughts. He pulled away his gaze, but the unrest in his heart still intensified. What was up with him? Why did his gaze keep wandering over to Master? Why did he, towards Master, always have a mysterious longing for her?

Before, he could hold himself back, but now, he found it harder and harder to control. He so, so wanted to hug her and kiss her.

——No! I can’t think about this!

Ye Chenyuan forcefully shook his head. He closed his eyes and compelled himself to cultivate. Master always kept him in mind, so how could he be half-hearted and disappoint her?

Thus, Ye Chenyuan’s heart finally calmed. Sure enough, talented people quickly surpassed others. The moment he entered cultivation, he descended into the ideal state. Yuan Chu sensed the dense, inseparable spiritual power on him and smiled.

“Girl, why aren’t you cultivating?” Venerable Li used voice transmission to talk to Yuan Chu. Recently, they had been secretly consulting each other. Ye Chenyuan had him refine another ten-thousand-year spirit essence, so the state of his soul was a lot better than before.

Yuan Chu was floating on her back, watching the stars.

“Such a nice night, it’d be a waste to use it to cultivate, no?”

Venerable LI didn’t quite understand. “But of us cultivators, who isn’t fighting for every second to pursue the Great Dao? And this is just a normal starry sky. What’s there to see?”

Yuan Chu smiled softly. She wasn’t as lively and mischievous as she had been during the day. Although her smile was still brilliant, there was more of something else in it now.

“Venerable Li, how long have you lived until now?”

He was silent for a long time. He had lived for three thousand years and was sealed in the Sky Pearl at death. It had already been… fifty thousand years.

“Fifty thousand years…”

Yuan Chu steadily stared at the sky. The branches of the Joyous Union Tree hung down, its leaves gently swaying above her head. The wispy fog rose towards the sky, fading into the stars.

She closed her eyes. “In those fifty thousand years, how much beautiful scenery have you kept in your mind?”

Venerable Li froze at her question. He had seen many beautiful landscapes, but what he had valued were the treasures contained within those landscapes. And now, he found that he could remember not a single bit of that scenery.

Yuan Chu laughed. “Cultivating never changes. It’s like continuously painting black ink on a sheet of white paper, simple and pure. However, I want my white paper to be filled with countless awe-inspiring colors! What you all seek is immortality and the Great Dao. And me, I’m different. I seek life, the fleeting freedom of our souls.”

Yuan Chu’s words were light, but they shook Venerable Li to his core.

It was as if an opening had been broken through his intrinsic ideals, and through that opening, he could glimpse the colorful sky beyond.

And not waiting for him to understand, rainbow-colored clouds emerged from the horizon. The rays of sunrise cast its light on Yuan Chu as she slowly fell asleep. The rays turned into vibrant dots of light and were absorbed into her body.

The scene before them was as if from a dream, but around them, all the spiritual energy within a thousand miles became sparse! Ye Chenyuan was forced awake from his cultivating and saw this beautiful phenomenon.

The long hair of the little girl was suffused with points of light. They floated in the water like wisps of fine algae. The vivid clouds above reflected in the water, and rainbow points of light radiated from her entire body. Her eyes were closed as her skin started to glow.

Is she a celestial being? She must be one!

Thus were Ye Chenyuan’s thoughts.

Venerable Li was speechless. “Enlightenment, how did she have a moment of enlightenment so easily? And such a grand revelation, such a warm auspicious sign of heaven and earth! She has already realized a Dao of her own! And how young is she? She is so young, yet she has already understood the ideal of letting things take their course. Those genii of old times, I’m only afraid that they would take their own lives out of shame if they knew!”

Venerable Li’s words fully expressed his admiration for Yuan Chu. And Ye Chenyuan, for the first time, his mood sank.

She was a Nascent Soul at seven years old. Her enlightenment might let her ascend from primary stage of Nascent Soul to middle stage.

And she was the master of Frost Sword Peak of Myriad Sword Sect, the head of the ten immortal sects. Her talent and resources were outstanding, and her perception was extremely high.

She was stunning.

For a her like this, he… he, a Qi Refining cultivator, what qualifications did he have to stand with her?
