 Chapter 26 - A Very Strange Illness

He held his breath, not daring to disturb her. But the closer he got, the more he could hear his heart accelerate. It was like he was taking advantage of her sleep to steal something. Infatuated, he stared at the girl in front of him. Thinking of every little thing between them, his mouth curved into a little smile.

In the next second, he very, very lightly kissed her on the lips...

This kiss was much lighter than Yuan Chu’s kiss from before. It was as fine and graceful as morning dew sliding into the heart of a lotus, or a butterfly coming to a rest on a flower.

Ye Chenyuan had never smelled her fragrance so deeply before. Besides that milky fragrance, there was a sweet smell pulling him in. He couldn't hear anything other than the deafening sound of his own heartbeat.

"What are you doing?!"

The sudden noise startled Ye Chenyuan, and he sprang up! He instinctively glanced at Yuan Chu. Once he saw that she was still asleep, he let out a breath.

Immediately, he realized it was Venerable Li who had cried out. Afraid he would tell Yuan Chu, he ran out of the cave, his heart skipping violently.

The way he said it so self-confidently made Venerable Li doubt himself. Does this brat truly not know, or is he faking? How could two kiss so easily?

Ye Chenyuan added, “When I was younger, Mother would kiss me like that too. It made me feel treasured. Master’s kindness towards me is like a mountain. I also really treasure her.”

If so, then why did he always long to kiss her?!

For a moment, Ye Chenyuan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. But before he could say anything, suddenly, something knocked into the spiritual tool they were sitting on. Yuan Chu lost her balance and crashed into Ye Chenyuan, landing in his embrace! Her sweet fragrance enveloped him...

Yuan Chu truly hadn't changed much in the last year. Yet, hugging her, Ye Chenyuan felt his hands and feet go numb, and his entire body tensed, his heart beating so quickly it didn't seem like his own.

It was like he had caught some strange illness. The illness was normally harmless, but when he touched her, it would react fiercely. But once he left her, he would feel entirely unwell. Even cultivating couldn't gather his mind.

What… was wrong with him?

Colliding into Ye Chenyuan's stiff chest, Yuan Chu was furious.

"Which unsightly person dares to obstruct my spiritual tool? See if I don't beat you up!"

She finished speaking and disappeared. Outside the spiritual tool, she realized they hadn’t been deliberately intercepted; amidst the fighting, a spirit talisman had flown out and accidentally hit them.
