Driver of The Beautiful CEO - Chapter 17: You Have to Give Me An Answer

Yin Hanruo and Bai Bin’s group arrived at the hospital. As soon as they got out of the car, Bai Bin's cell phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID, said something to the others, then walked alone to answer the phone.

"General."

As soon as Bai Bin opened his mouth, an old voice rang from the other end of the phone. It was dignified but a little angry. "What's wrong with you, kid?"

Bai Bin was a lieutenant colonel, and the police had to release him under the military’s pressure. However, that didn’t mean that he was okay. On the contrary, he knew better than anyone that he may face a more severe punishment.

"I did it. It has nothing to do with the rest of the team," Bai Bin did not explain and took all the responsibility.

On the other end of the phone, a table was violently banged. "You son of a b****, do you have a death wish? You, beating people up like that, can you handle the consequences?”

Liu Fei's tragic appearance after being severely beaten had been photographed and sent to the Liu family. Had it not been for Bai Bin's identity, he would have been taken away by the angry Liu family.

"I can't handle it, but I don't regret it."

Bai Bin really couldn’t handle this matter. Besides, considering the amount of power and influence the Liu family held in the capital…. Well, even if it was an ordinary family, once investigated, he would not only have to take off his military uniform but was also likely to face trial.

"Why?"

Bai Bin took a deep breath and slowly said: "He insulted my little brother."

"Your little brother..."

The voice on the other side of the phone stopped, it seemed like he was searching for something in his memory. After a while, the general suddenly opened his mouth and asked with shock: "You found the only survivor of your village?"

13 years ago, on Lunar New Year’s Eve, there was a plague outbreak in Bai Bin's hometown. There were 54 people in the village other than Bai Bin, who was 17 years old and far away because of military training. Overnight, only Liu Yanbo survived.

Bai Bin received the news half a month later. It was after the village had already been sealed off and after all the bodies had been cremated. Liu Yanbo, the only one who didn’t appear on the death list, was missing.

It was a disaster, a catastrophe.

On that festive night, bidding farewell to the current year and welcoming the New year, Bai Bin and Liu Yanbo had lost everything, except each other.

"Yes."

In the moonlight, Bai Bin stood upright against the wind, determined to protect Liu Yanbo.

"Ah..."

After a long silence, there was a soft sigh on the phone, and the originally dignified voice softened. "I will give you a one week leave of absence. When the time is up, return to the base immediately."

"First..." before he could finish, the phone had been hung up, leaving Bai Bin, who had been ready to bear any punishment, stunned.

"Son of a b****, you always give me trouble."

In an unknown base somewhere, an old general in his twilight years hung up the phone angrily. He looked at the adjutant standing by and asked, "Have you checked?"

The old general's name was Han Dingguo. He was one of the few remaining generals in the army that had been baptized by the flames of war, and was also the leader of the Unit "War Dragon".

"I found out that the cause of the event was a marriage engagement between the Liu and the Yin family, and…”

"Just get to the point," The old general waved his hand and interrupted the adjutant's careful description, looking very impatient.

The point?

The adjutant thought for a while, closed the investigation report, and seriously said, "The boy of the Liu family wants to snatch a woman of a good family."

Old general Dingguo smiled, the young man was promising and worthy of being taught.

The adjutant smiled with him and asked again: "General, how should we respond to Minister Yuan? Gently? Or aggressively?”

Han Dingguo raised his eyebrows and domineeringly said: "Is there another way? Tell him that if he dares to touch my soldiers, I’ll crush him."

"I thought the same." he smiled slyly as if he had long known what his answer would be.

Han Dingguo kicked the adjutant's butt and smiled. "You've gotten smarter and upgraded from a pawn. Hurry up and go."

The lieutenant dusted off his butt and ran out.

...

Ten minutes later, the Liu family in Beijing received an order from their backers and the Minister: ‘Liu Fei was beaten, give up and immediately terminate the engagement between Liu Fei and Yin Hanruo.’

Soon, the Yin family also received news from the Liu family. Liu and Yin officially came to an agreement, and the engagement was terminated.

The matter was resolved completely and unexpectedly. Yin and Liu each suffered damage. The Yin family lost the opportunity to unite with the Liu family, and the Liu family paid a huge price.

A few were happy, a few were sad.

The biggest beneficiary was of course Yin Hanruo. Such an ending was something she never imagined, but she didn't know it yet.

In the ward, Yin Hanruo looked at Liu Yanbo, who was neatly dressed and busy helping Mrs. Huang pack his things to be discharged. She frowned and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Leaving."

Liu Yanbo continued moving his hands and folding the dirty clothes he wore, putting them in a plastic bag.

"Little brother, your indifferent attitude is so wrong! Your wife just left the police station and hurriedly came to see you. You don't even care to ask if she’s well, or even greet her with a smile. That’s too much." Shangguan Qingmeng walked to Liu Yanbo and complained about the injustice.

Yin Hanruo was taken away by the police, Liu Yanbo knew that. Before he fell completely unconscious, he heard the police sirens.

The reason why he didn’t ask, firstly, was because he believed that nothing would happen to Yin Hanruo. After all, she wasn’t involved in the fight. Secondly, he was busy thinking about other things, so he didn’t think to ask. Since everyone looked okay and were all standing there, what was there to ask?

As for Bai Bin, Liu Yanbo was even less worried. He was a person who once made their entire village proud. If he couldn't solve the matter, he wouldn’t be worried, but disappointed.

Perhaps it was the way Shangguan Qingmeng said it, Yin Hanruo looked really unhappy. Liu Yanbo had to explain. "Just now, the nurse came to check my temperature, my fever’s gone."

"Besides, since I haven't seen young sir Bin for so many years, there are lots of things I want to say. But we can't talk while drinking in the hospital, can we? And he brought so many friends, might as well go somewhere we can talk comfortably." Liu Yanbo smiled and spoke in a relaxed tone. It was completely different from how utterly exhausted he sounded in the afternoon when he had just woken up from his coma.

If you’re suffering, just endure it alone. There’s no need for others to see, as they have no obligation to sympathize with you, nor stay by your side.

The sudden reunion with Bai Bin after so many years caused his suppressed feelings, lurking at the bottom of his heart, to rush into his head. It momentarily unbalanced Liu Yanbo's mind. How could he show how empty he felt? He was “a guy who liked smiling”, after all, he practiced for so long...

"We do have a lot to say, but instead of just catching up, you have to give me an answer." Bai Bin appeared at the door of the ward, slightly angry.
