WAO Glossary - Massive Spoilers. Do not click unless you've read to the latest chapter (updated regularly)

Due to popular demand (not really), I've compiled a glossary that contains terminologies as well as the list of characters up to date. This will serve as a way for people who are confused regarding any terminologies or if they forget who a character is to refresh their memories.

This list will be updated overtime as the series goes on to include more characters and terminologies. Feel free to comment below if I missed any characters or terminologies that you feel is important and I will add them as I see fit.

Once again, due to the nature of this glossary, it contains a lot of spoilers for the novel, read on at the risk of your own enjoyment. I recommend only reading if you've reached the latest chapter.

List of (possibly) confusing terminologies
+Divinity: Effectively gods, powerful beings that transcend humans and are capable of unimaginable feats
+Demi: Offsprings and descendants of Divinity, despite the name, they aren’t demi-gods born from a Divinity and a human, but includes the offsprings of 2 Divinities as well
+Demons: An multi-world force of destruction that seeks to take over worlds for reasons unknown
+Daemons: previously translated as “demonic gods”, they have the characteristics of Divinity that they are unable to be harmed by mortals, but with varying levels of strength.
+Wraiths: previously translated as “Demons” – not to be confused with “demons” which aren’t capitalized. Beings that come from the Hungry Ghost realm of the Samsara, referred to as Wraiths due to their cruel nature
+Demon Beasts: beasts that come from the human realm that can cultivate and has transcended their beastly forms, works for the multi-world Demons
+Beast King: beasts that come from the Animal realm or Beast King realm, they might be able to cultivate, but might or might not shed their beastly forms, prefers to be called “Beast Kings” instead of animals and do not work for the multi-world Demons by default.
+Devils: beings from hell that isn’t part of the Samsara, the only example so far of Asmodeus.
+Combatant: Refers to those with a lot of personal strength before anything else, as opposed to those with only authority and wisdom but no strength and has to depend on others for protection.
The original word is “强者” - meaning “strong person”, after a lot of thinking I decided to translate this word as Combatant (with capital C) because it fits very well, the standard for being called “strong person” changes from world to world, so someone like GQS is a Combatant in his world, but is only a small fry in the Suspended world.

+True Demons: The true masterminds behind the invasion of the 900 million World Layers, also known as Daemons, but commonly called True Demons to differentiate. Powerful creatures capable of creating Demon Lords

Concept Terminologies
+The Samsara: Also called the 6 Paths of Reincarnation or the Wheel of Samsara. A system of 6 interconnected worlds/realms which includes:
      -Human realm
      -Heaven realm
      -Asura realm
      -Hungry Ghost/Wraith realm
      -Animal/Beast King realm
      -Huang Quan
All beings of the 5 other worlds that die automatically goes to Huang Quan to reincarnate to another world as decided by their Merits. If their Merit is below 0, they are instead sent to one of 18 hells to suffer and repent, only reincarnating after resetting their Merit to 0.
+The 6 arts of cultivation: The basis of the cultivation civilization, basically the technology that cultivators use. Includes:
      -Divination
      -Formation
      -Pill making
      -Talisman
      -Smithing
      -Cooking
+The Grand Tie Wei Mountain: Huang Quan and hell itself is built on this indestructible mountain. The Divine Mountain protects Huang Quan as well as the 6 worlds of the Samsara from the “winds of chaotic tribulation” capable of destroying all life – including souls.
+World Origin: The energy by which a world grows and flourishes, the source of all life in the world. When a cultivator advances to their next level of cultivation, they draw upon the power of the Origin, essentially “registering” themselves to the world, after which the Origin will present them with part of its power as feedback. If a world merges with another world, the merged worlds’ Origin will fuse, becoming stronger and capable of supporting more powerful cultivators
+Thought Sea: the manifestation of the mind and the source of inner sight, one of the three characteristics of cultivators.
+Soul Vessel: the soul, unlike normal souls that can't leave their body, a cultivator's soul is called a soul vessel, having been trained, it can leave the body under specific circumstances, one of the three characteristics of cultivators.
+Spirit Energy: the most basic form of energy manifested by the Origin, cultivators absorbs them from their environment to become stronger.
+Dantian: a cultivator's main source of power and where they store spirit energy, an imaginary organ that supposedly rests below the stomach, one of the three characteristics of cultivators.
+(Various) Essences: the essences are what’s written on the tin, they are less basic forms of energy manifested by the Origin, but carries an extra attribute which can be more easily used by the people who knows how to.
+World Layers: sometimes called Layers for short, the collection of over a billion or trillion worlds within a certain sector of the space vortex. Layers are distinct from each other through a sort of membrane that can be felt as they are passed through, which is easier said than done.
+Phase Interface: The boundary between two worlds or state of matter. Usually doesn't exist and must be artificially created. Imagine the overlapping part of a Venn diagram.
+Lord-class Combatants: A classification of Combatants who earned and owns a Super Dimensional world by their own strength.
+“X-type” worlds: A civilization fully focused on a single ability type are referred to as “X-type worlds”, with X being the ability type that that civilization focuses on. For example, Hazeden’s Sky Haze Kingdom is a God’s Chosen-type world, the cultivation world and Suspended worlds were Cultivation-type worlds. Please keep this in mind in order to not be confused when they are discussed in the future.

Characters:

*Reality/World tomb: 
+Gu Qing Shan: Our main character, a military Supreme Commander in his past life, he sacrificed himself in the war against the Demons but instead found himself travelled back 10+ years in time instead of dying, re-doing his life again.
+Su Xue Er: GQS’s highschool crush, an aristocratic young lady of one of 9 most powerful families in the Confederate. A good girl who cares a lot about GQS but is bogged down by her responsibilities and status as an aristocrat.
+Anna Medici: GQS’s life saviour in the past life, princess of the Holy Empire and is known as one of the strongest combatants in Reality. Shows interest in him for various reasons
+Impartial Goddess: The Confederate’s central managing AI system, she is capable of many things but is limited by her protocols
+The 9 Lords: The 9 most powerful and influential aristocratic families in the Confederate, one of which is Su Xue Er’s family - the Su family.
+Zhang Ying Hao: Member of one of the 9 Lords – the Zhang family – ran away from home and formed a large underground organization who later became known as the King of Assassins. The first of GQS’s allies.
+Ye Fei Li: The only sentient Man Killer Fiend that can suppress his own impulse to kill, an invaluable member of GQS’s team. Had a girlfriend and mother who he cares for a lot
+Liao Xing: The greatest scientist in Reality. 30 years ago, he faked his own death and escaped to live in space but was now called back to Earth to help GQS with his project. An expert in warp technology, a habitual womanizer.
+Confederate President: The President of the Freedom Confederate, on-paper, GQS’s adoptive father. A firm man who believes in peace but doesn’t hesitate to call for war when it’s necessary.
+Martial Saint – Zhang Yong Yang: Strongest Professionist in the Freedom Confederate, a member of the Zhang family but serves the country rather than his clan. A righteous general.
+The Holy Church’s Pope: Head of the Holy Church, a mysterious person who doesn’t fight a lot but is known as one of the strongest in the world.
+The Seven Holy Apostles: The Pope’s 7 subordinates. They are the strongest members of the Church below the Pope, devout believers of their faith but cruel in their methods.
+The Fuxi Emperor: Head of the Fuxi Empire – one of the three biggest countries in the world. A powerful Professionist who is definitely the strongest man in Fuxi – he was rumored to have fought the Pope and had to take an entire year to heal, no one knew who the winner was. An ambitious, practical and pragmatic man.
+Empress Varona: the Fuxi Emperor’s wife and Anna’s aunt. A visionary who wishes for peace and up keeping the status quo.

*Cultivation world:
+Ning Yue Xi: A legendary character who was supposed to die 1 year before the game Worlds’ Apocalypse Online launched but was saved by GQS’s interference in history. A supreme genius cultivator and Bladeswoman.
+Gong Sun Zhi: A legendary character who was supposed to die 1 year before the game Worlds’ Apocalypse Online launched but was saved by GQS’s interference in history. The world’s top formation master.
+Leng Tian Xing: Heir of Yao Guang sect - one of the biggest sects in the cultivation world. Became his close friend and ally after being saved by GQS.
+Bai Hua Fairy – Xie Tao Ling: One of the three Saints, leader of Bai Hua sect and GQS’s Shifu. Rumored to be a beauty but her face was always hidden behind a silk veil. A moody person who will do things at her own pace and as she likes. Secretly took her white goose incarnation as her 1st disciple.
+Great Monk of Sorrow: One of the three Saints, leader of Spirit Leaf Temple.
+Xuanyuan Tianzun: One of the three Saints, leader of Blue Clouds Pass.
+Xiuxiu: A member of Bai Hua sect, their youngest member at 4th rank. Taken into the sect at the same time as GQS.
+Qin Xiao Lou: A member of Bai Hua sect, the 2nd ranked member. A famous spoiled young master who likes partying more than he does cultivating, but is secretly an actual genius. A master of all 6 arts of cultivation, cares a lot about his fellow sect members and isn’t afraid to show it.

*Suspended world:
+Zishan young master – Qi Yan: One of Guang Yang sect’s 3 Hallmasters, invader of Shen Wu world. Brought to and trapped in the world of Tianma through the combined effort of GQS and the Tianma Empress. Presumed dead.
+Qing Rou: One of Qi Yan’s maids, a mature and caring girl. A stunning beauty.
+Wan Er: One of Qi Yan’s maids, a childish and slightly playful girl. A stunning beauty.
+Qi Ruo Ya: Qi Yan’s father, head of Guang Yang sect.
+Wu San: Qi Yan's close aide, stayed behind during Qi Yan's invasion of Shen Wu world
+Wang Hong Dao: Grand Elder of Guang Yang sect, wounded in a battle with the realm demon and has to use daily pills from Rakshasa Peak to sustain his life.
+Zhao Wu Chui: Wang Hong Dao’s disciple and one of Guang Yang sect’s 3 Hallmasters. A straight-forward Martial cultivator who hates Qi Yan due to his personality as well as other reasons. Manages the sect’s treasury and expenditures
+Ye Ying Mei: Wang Hong Dao’s disciple and one of Guang Yang sect’s 3 Hallmasters. A woman who usually acts as the mediator between Zhao Wu Chui and Qi Yan. An expert in the art of talisman, manages the sect disciple’s study and cultivation.
+Rakshasa’s Daughter: The head of Rakshasa Peak, the only remaining big sect in the world as well as the strongest.

*Outer Plane: also commonly known as the 900 million World Layers.
+Barry and Kitty: A pair of brother and sister who owns the Justice Iron Fist Club Super Dimensional world. Powerful, but in a lot of debt.
+Lord Bloodcloak: Su Xue Er's teacher, a Lord-class Combatant. A God's Chosen who uses the Blood Sea card deck to fight.
+Aboul: A famous vacation resort hotel with various miraculous attractions. The location that hosts Triste's call of the Bramble Birds
+Bramble Birds: A race of aristocratic creatures from the Mystic Zones. Since they have a hobby of collecting and accumulating treasures, they are known as the richest and one of the most powerful race in the 900 million World Layers.
+Triste: The Light of Dawn, renown across the 900 million World Layers as  especially generous and kind among the Bramble Birds, host of the current call of the Bramble Birds
+Laura: Princess of the Bramble Bird race, having just turned 12, her coming of age celebration was to be hosted at the Aboul Hotel for 3 consecutive days and night.
+Ilya: Frost of the Cold Night, general of the Bramble Bird Kingdom's army, known to be one of the two most powerful members of the Bramble Bird race, the other being Triste.

*The Strife Zones: 
+The figure of light: Allegedly a contingency plan that the seven Gods arranged in the case that they died. Its awakening marked the start of the Era of Pilgrimage and the Path to Godhood.
+Greyhan: Owner of Greyhan Blackmarket, a Cardinal of the Holy Church of Death. A powerful Combatant that seems to hold Dusk captive for the sake of the Church.
+Little Dusk: An ancient weapon created by the Divinities to fight the enemies that they could not. A sentient card, the owner as well as part of the Condemnation Deck. Sealed away by the Divinities after exhausting her power in one mission in fear of her gaining emotions.
+The sinful creature - the dark figure of light: The creature Dusk exhausted her powers in order to seal away. As Dusk escaped her seal, the creature's seal had weakened as well.

*The Primordial Heaven realm:
+The Spirit Tortoise: The only guardian spirit beast of Barren Cloud Heavenly Palace that is still alive to this day, an old turtle with a young heart.
+Xie Gu Hong: Sect master of the ancient Barren Cloud Heavenly Palace, Xie Dao Ling's father, strongest sword cultivator from the Age of Old who was able to win against a Divinity by half an exchange during sparring.
+Luo Bing Li: Previously the peak master of Fine Sound Peak from the Barren Cloud Heavenly Palace. Currently, the only human cultivator who was still at her peak state that is hiding in the phantom images.
+The Golden Flame Divinity: A Divinity who came from the future to trap Gu Qing Shan in the Age of Old so that he doesn't become the [God Slayer] that slaughters Divinities in the future.

+The figure of light: The collective consciousness of the Age of Old Divinities, its goal is to make sure humanity's preparations doesn't achieve their goal and overturn the rule of Divinities.

+Eternal True God: Soul Shrieker: A monster from the Eternal Abyss, thanks to its Eternal characteristic, it cannot be killed permanently even by the Bygone Era humans. It is revealed to be the true mastermind behind the enslavement of humanity by the Divinity and the long years of war between humanity and the Desolate race.

+The Demon Dragon: An ancient weapon of the Bygone Era humans, tasked with guarding the corpse of the Abyssal Fate Weaver and the final open entrance into the Eternal Abyss.

+The Abyssal Fate Weaver: A monster from the Eternal Abyss, a half-woman, half-spider creature that cannot truly be killed. With its Causality Skill [Existence], it once infiltrated the Bygone Era humans and had 10 paths that led into the Eternal Abyss made.

+The Earth Creator: The Lord of the Earth world, one of the four Saint Pillars of Reality, a friendly entity to humans that fight against the Apocalypse alongside them.

*The Mystic Zones:
+Boss: The Abyssal King, the Exiled Apostle, the Peerless Fallen One, Greatest Above the Star Crown, Great Lord of Infinite Origin. A great and powerful figure that, due to many circumstances, became heavily wounded and lost most of his powers. Currently travelling with Gu Qing Shan and friends as his 'mutual saviour' through a link made with an Occultism artifact.

*Gu Qing Shan’s abilities:

Thaumaturgies:

[Stunned] [Rigid] [Severance] [Dreamjolt]: Using the power of Lightning of Life, forcefully separate a being’s consciousness from their body for 5 seconds.

[Shadow Shift]: By selecting a target within inner sight range, forcibly switch places with them, can bypass any barriers

Divine Skills:

[Ground Shrink]: By selecting a location or target within inner sight range, instantly move to the target’s location bypassing the limits of time and space with a special movement technique.
[Sealed Body Yin Shift]: Force the body to enter a state of natural death that can be dispelled by the soul.
[Soul Comes Soul Goes]: Forcefully eject your soul from your body while still maintaining a connection with it, allowing travel to and from Huang Quan realm.

[Mystery of All Beings Equal]: Through studying a creature’s composition, gains the ability to transform into it in both appearance and essence while retaining normal consciousness. Costs Soul Points to activate.
[Unbreakable Mountain Range]: A martial arts technique that increases in power depending on the user's martial arts expertise and understanding.

Sword Secret Arts:

[Water Flow Severance]: Create and send out a large number of sword phantoms that explodes.

[Cresecent Slash]: Turn into a large bright crescent moon-shaped sword phantom that flies straight forward.

[Seven Stars Flowing Dragon]: A series of Secret Arts, after hitting the first 7 strikes in a row, the final strike unleashes a dragon with immense destructive power.
[Drawn Shadow]: Black sword images erupt from the center of the sword, blooming like a black flower drawn with ink that cuts everything around it.

[Torrent]: Create and send out a large number of sword phantoms that decimate everything in their path like a torrent.
[Tong Gui]: Sacrifice everything that you and any willing allies have including your life in exchange for one final attack, the heavier the price, the more powerful the strike. 

[Swallow Returns]: An assassination type Secret Art that creates a copy of an attack with the same power that strikes from the opposite direction.
[Sword Manipulation]: The entry requirement for becoming a Sword Saint. Using inner sight and spirit energy, control your sword or swords as flying swords that can act independently of you and each other like they would if you were holding them in your hand.
[Silver Star]: A Sword Saint-only Secret Art. Using Sword Manipulation to manifest sword phantoms as stars that can attack from above with highly destructive power.
Sword Array - [Taiyi]: Sword Arrays are the most powerful techniques available to a Sword Saint, by manipulating multiple flying swords, create a unique formation out of sword phantoms that are intangible until activated, but decimates everything within its range once it does.
[Life Seeker]: A Secret Art that can be used together with other Secret Arts. Allows any sword attacks by the user to hit targets that are within a range of 10 feet, essentially extending their melee attack range.
[Soul Sword]/[Iris Sword]: A skill that GQS created from being killed over and over by a glance of ancient spirit beasts. It eventually evolved into his own Thaumaturgy. An attack that converges huge amounts of sword qi into the eyes and releasing them all at once, directly damages the enemy's soul vessel and psyche.

Title skills:

[Sword 15] – [Sound Shock]: Also deals minor damage to the soul vessel with every attack.

[Xiao Qi Chaplain] [You Ji General] – [Quick Attack]: Attack speed is increased by 15%

[Assassin] [Ace Assassin] – [Harvest]: Instantly killing an enemy in one attack will fully refund the spirit energy used for that attack.

[Talented General] – [Rampaging Sword Qi]: Passively gains a fine layer of sword qi around the blade of the sword that will form a duplicate attack

[Starflame War God] – [Conquer]: Causality skill, any target(s) selected will be forced to attack the skill owner once, justifying their own reasoning for the attack.
[Sword Demon] - [True Soul Cleaving Eyes]: A product of linkage between [War God Quest] and [War God Title]. An upgrade from his Iris Sword/Soul Sword ability, as it is an upgrade of the ability that he created, he could use the Skill without equipping the Title. Briefly forces his target into a temporary world within his eye, then gather all of the sword qi within his eye into a single sword strike as strong as his most powerful attack. Everything happens within the blink of an eye, so it is almost impossible to dodge.

Swords:

Earth sword: Ancient ceremonial sword, capable of ‘contacting’ Gods through use of Soul Points. After its awakening, the Earth sword's powers have changed.

-[I am heavy]: The sword itself weighs 86,370,000 tons. Someone recognized by the sword will only feel that it perfectly fits their hand, but others will feel the full weight.

-[Earth's Choice]: Through using Soul Points, the user can completely slay and extinguish an entity/object, making it so that it can't be retrieved even through reversing time. Costs more Soul Points the stronger the entity/object is.

-[Sanctuary]: The Earth's sword weight is indistinct and can change from 2-fold to 1001-fold compared to the target's weight at the user's will. The weight of the Earth sword would feel the same no matter what in the user's hand.

-[Earth's Twin]: The user can supply the Earth sword with Soul Points to fix the Heaven sword.

Chao Yin sword: Ancient sword forged by the Gods.

-[All Crossing Sea of Bitterness]: Capable of controlling any body of water or God-related barriers at will, costs Soul Points to use. Previously translated as [Even a sea of suffering shall pass], changed for obvious reasons.

Six Paths Great Mountain sword: The manifestation of the Samsara Grand Tie Wei Mountain, houses a sentient spirit called Shannu, all of the sword’s powers are supplied by the Grand Tie Wei Mountain itself.

-[Invincible]: The sword cannot break or be damaged by anything.

-[Law Breaker]: The sword is unaffected by any Law.

-[Living’s Wisdom]: The sword spirit is able to gain the user’s experience and skills with their permission.

-[Protector]: At a moment of Huang Quan’s creation, destruction or great change, the sword can be used to control and mold the Grand Tie Wei Mountain at will.

Heaven Sword: The twin of the Earth sword, hidden away at the final moment of the Age of Old, a period completely detached from the normal timeline.

-[Heaven's Choice]: The user can repeat the same attack 3,6, or 9 times in a row at a single moment. Needs Soul Points to use.

-[Chaotic Flow]: The user can turn time backwards or forward for any entity/object that they hit with the sword. The stronger the entity/object, the more Soul Points is required to trigger this ability. Can only be used once per 10 days.

-[Heaven's Twin]: The user can supply the Heaven sword with Soul Points to fix the Earth sword.

Other tools and weapons:

Devil King Warden Rod: The symbol of the Huang Quan Devil King, he who holds the rod controls all 18 layers of hell.

-[Samsara Conquer]: Use the power of Karma to allow hell to separate from Huang Quan and move to other worlds.

-[Breaking Cells]: The user opens all 18 layers of hell to release the dead.

-[Dead Essence]: The user can travel as they please through the layers of hell, communicate from far distances with the dead, and instantly awaken the dead who fall into slumber.

-[Soul Dispersion]: The user can permanently kill any disobedient dead. Once killed through this way, the dead will no longer be able to revive and instead become sustenance for the rod.

Jade gourd pendant - Adorable: A relic from the Bygone Era that was apparently created by nature, it took a liking to Gu Qing Shan when he was choosing treasures in the Bygone Era cultivator vault. Since it's sentient, it can store Soul Points until it's ready to use without needing Gu Qing Shan to pour Soul Points into it every time, although it likes to periodically ask for Soul Points like a puppy. 

-[Borrowing Wonder]: Adorable can take any item that isn't being held by anyone, considering that item to "not be owned". - "The world is full of wonders, and I am awesome at borrowing them"

-[Hundred Lanterns]: Adorable can take any single ability it chooses from any target or targets, then either cast it itself to give to Gu Qing Shan to use a single time. - "Thou art is marvellous, I shall carry it forward for thou"

-[Spotless Jade]: All of Adorable's actions are imperceivable by anyone that it doesn't want to, which is usually everyone but Gu Qing Shan. This includes Adorable's existence itself, although anyone sharp enough can notice the aftermath of its actions.

-[Seed Form]: After using either [Borrowing Wonder] or [Hundred Lanterns] three consecutive times in a short time period, Adorable will be collectively restrained and killed by the Laws of Reality, turning into a seed. The seed can be infused with Soul Points to revive Adorable.

Miscellaneous skills and attributes:

Cooking: MAX level.

Acting: MAX level.

Smithing: Intermediate level for cultivation world (pre-fusion)

Formation: Best in the Suspended world.
[Spirit Telepathy]: He can interpret and understand a weapon spirit's intention through forming a connection with them even without them speaking.
[Soul Reading]: Infiltrate an enemy's soul vessel and read their memories, the results vary depending on the caster, a crude soul reading can cause a person to completely become vegetative after it.
[Kiss of the Love Saint]: Literally the most unforgettable kiss.
Unlocked soul: With his soul unlocked by the Old Gods, he has the ability to learn any and every Skill without restrictions or detriment to his existing abilities.
Sentient card: Having been turned into a card by Dusk, he gains the same characteristics that she does, including but not limited to the ability to consume other cards of the same attribute or leftover heritage of the Old Gods to become stronger.

Mystic-type abilities:

Demon Dragon's Bloodline: Having killed the Demon Dragon, Gu Qing Shan has now taken on the powers and curse of the Demon Dragon.

-Assimilation: The Demon Dragon Bloodline is constantly trying to assimilate and eat him from inside, turning him into the form of the Demon Dragon weapon once again. The process is incredibly painful and undesirable.

-Invasive: The presence of the Demon Dragon constantly exude from Gu Qing Shan's body, corrupting any and every creature within its range into a Demon Dragon bloodkin. Demon Dragon bloodkins are empowered by this corruption, gaining the ability to become infinitely stronger through the consumption of others. In exchange, every Demon Dragon bloodkin would be consumed by the Demon Dragon once every few ten thousand years, essentially becoming its food.

Living Beings Sacrificial Dance: A dance taught to Gu Qing Shan by the strongest human Combatant of the Bygone Era. The supposedly strongest Occultism ability known to man, its main function was to suppress and help Gu Qing Shan assimilate the Demon Dragon's power as his own without losing his identity as a human, but is capable of so much more.

[See you once again]: An ability obtained after Gu Qing Shan performed the Living Being Sacrificial Dance. Through the medium of a bowl of noodles, he's able to unknowingly cause the one who ate it to tell the truth about any question he asked.
